I have been around for a while, and I have only seen maybe one or two games where a call made by an official has changed the outcome. While you can argue that calls are too tight or too loose, you can always find a place or many places during the course of a game where your team could have found a way to improve their play. Sometimes one team is simply better than another, but it is easier for our egos to place blame somewhere...either on a bad officiating crew or a coach or sometimes even a particular player. This is almost always unfair. Trust me, if these officials were the best of the best, they would not be officiating high school basketball here.
Having said all that, I do agree that technical fouls are very inconsistent. What offends one referee, another one can overlook. Did anyone see the Upperman game against Macon Friday night? Upperman's coach got ejected early in the 1st quarter. It seemed like, from my view anyway, that he had said his peace, and sat in his chair where he was supposed to and shut up. And then out of no where, he was given a second technical and then ejected. Maybe I missed something. Any thoughts....
