  1. Whomever is at the helm will have a good bunch of players to still contend for a gold ball. The tradition is back and as hungry as ever to win, with that being said unfortunately Coach Ricker is in no condition to coach and our prayers are with him in his fight to survive. He is a strong man and a winner and I don't think the cancer knew who it was dealing with when in chose to pick on him. Coach Ricker will fight and beat it. On another note I hear rumors going around that Rechelle Dye will be at Carson Newman and not Belmont next year. If so congrats I won't have to drive as far to watch her play.
  2. Quite simple. The COY goes to the coach who has done the best job with what they have-MWHS is so good that anyone could coach them -just stay out of their way-this is NOT to take anything from Galyon b/c he is a good coach-but Coach Cloniger't East squad was supposed to stink , they have been bad and were picked near the bottom of the league. She HAS gotten the most out of a team with very little. She has given those kids new life and a newfound love for the game when most of them could have cared less due to the last knucklehead in there who totally demoralized these kids and it is for this reason she deserve to be COY
  3. Yes its true SCHS outplayed and outworked and quite frankly outcoached CCHS. The lady red looked as if they didn't want to be there or that all they had to do was show up. Congrats to the bearettes and good luck vs JCHS. Congrats to Coach Cloniger and the East squad-1st trip to regionals in 9yrs-as mentioned in previous post Tracy should be IMAC coach of the year for how far she has brought this bunch
  4. You are correct with your comments about Galyon-he is a good coach BUT I think anyone could and should win with that talent- The two teams who have gotten the most out of what they have are East and Seymour with east a slight edge-Tracy would be my vote for COY
  5. There are coaches out there like this and I call them" supplement" coaches that is they are doing it for the extra pay only and the problem with this is that the administration also knows and allows this therefore any complaining will fall on deaf ears-these coaches are usually "yesmen" to the administration and as long as there is no abuse involved administration will always have their back and kid, parents, and fans alike will suffer
  6. These are really the only 2 candidates-Butler is good but Fussell is the best in AA
  7. Beth Hawn is THE TOP PLAYER this YEAR-this has nothing to do with career numbers or what someone has done in the past-in other words Laken is good BUT the political train stops there Beth has had the BEST season-Molly from what I know is out for the year-hope I am wrong
  8. Taylor Hall- best all around player in the state on one of the best teams in the state-there are alot of good individual candidates though-Jasmine Newsome is very good-Jordyn is good but not Taylor good
  9. This is an excellent thread and want to bring it back to the front-It's kind of amazing that all those parents who whine and cry are not on this-is it because there is alot of truth to what is being posted?
  10. Guess they been teasted now-lost to Obion-now they can work on what was exposed and get ready to try to make a run at another gold ball-nobody's invincible
  11. Regardless of who wins district Baggett should be MVP-it goes to the best player and she is clearly the best among some good players in the district
  12. No doubt one of the classiest posts on this site but it also sums up in a nutshell the type of people shannon and her family are. It is splitting hairs between Taylor and Shannon, both are great players and great kids-Taylor gets a bad rap at times because she is so quiet and ignorant people in the past on this site want to say she's this and that but reality is she is a team player, wants to win, a good student, and a great kid- The same can be said for Shannon in that she is the ultimate team player and quite honestly TOO UNSELFISH-she is a tremendous student, and a super kid-The IMAC is very lucky to have these two and Goins in the league-three great players and kids.
  13. I'm sure Coach Walsh would love to be 17-0 but they lost this past weekend so now they are 16-1-but you are correct in that his program has taken off-watched them a couple of times and they are GOOD! Shannon Depew will be a great fit because of her versatility. I don't have a stake in this matter so as unbiased opinion I think its close between Hall and Depew as best all around player-Shannon's more physical inside and shoots three better-Hall handles it better and they both pass very well. Depew I heard had several DI looks and offers but wants to be close to home and loved the style and coaching staff at CN. As another poster said Sevier County couldn't pressure pants in a laundrymat therefore its not fair to say how good the CCHS guard play is until they see constant pressure. Hope Buda and Goins make it back so the IMAC can represent in the state
  14. I think if every coach does this and shares it with his/her administration then there would be less headaches and firmer ground to stand on when these"meetings"take place. I did have it happen once I misspoke before and when we were in the A.D.'s office he said asked the parent if they signed the rules sheet and saw the sheet they said yes and the A.D said well then there is nothing to discuss unless there has been mistreatment of your child in which the parent said no there wasn't except to the fact he tried to say "well I've seen every game and my child can do the same things" "he is just playing favorites" The A.D dismissed me and I never had an issue again except to not see that parent at many more of the games
  15. Playing time and game strategy IS NOT the parents concern. That is the coach's job. I just want to ensure that my children are treated fairly and in a descent manner. In my view coaches are like the CEO's of the team. If they chose to run it in the ground then it's THEIR job, livelihood, reputation and ultimately their legacy. If they destroy it they won't last long. I always looked at a coach as a mentor to his/her team. Not only should they have the knowledge and wisdom to win athletic contest, they should be an example to their team members and peers. I believe being a coach or mentor is the highest calling one can answer. Imagine the lives you influence and change for the better teaching life lessons through athletics! Being a former HS coach we use to implement a contract with the players that had to be signed by the player and their parents before they could play-The contract was nothing more than our rules of the team and how we were to act as a student-athlete-our last rule was that as a coach I will talk openly with the parents about anything BUT playing time-if the parent wanted to bring this up or continue to discuss it in its many ways and forms then their child would be suspended from the team until mom/dad could grow up and let me do my job-if their was a second offense by same parent(s) then the student was dismissed Iwill have you know that I NEVER had an issue with this and I believe it was because on the front end the parents saw me as approachable and would talk to them but also knew not to disscuss what I do as a coach just like they would not want me to operate or tell them how to operate if they were a doctor. On the other hand if there is DOCUMENTED PROOF (key words) of abuse then the parents have every right to confront the coach with an administrator and documented proof of abuse
