  1. Notre Dame should move game to Finley. Big gate and fast track would be an advantage.
  2. Sm secondary will only get better. They started Two sophomores and senior with his first start. The defense only gave up two scores to a good team.
  3. SM played ok with the exception of losing 4 fumbles. The one Eh returned for TD was a killer. Both teams should be better next week. Eh played hard they just got tired. They better both be ready to play next Friday or they will both lose. It was a sloppy but entertaining. Not sure they be able to play anymore with the new district alignment. sm took the firtst three games Eh won the next two and now Sm goes up 4-2 in overall series. I hope it continues.
  4. Signal is much better this year. I can't tell if EH is better or not by watching a Jamboree game. I still think it will be a good game. It will come down to which QB plays better. The SM QB is a senior and should have the edge.
  5. I like the kid as well and I hope he does well in wrestling and life.
  6. If the kid wants to wrestle that's great, but I guarantee you Gatewood would have the exact same approach if a player chose to miss a week of fall football camp. As for CPB, his approach has worked for him for over 30 years. My college coaches were more passive and I never experienced a winning season in 4 years. My high school coach was just like CBP and we won over 90% of our games. It was tough, but I enjoyed the winning and the team commitment worked.
  7. Coach Price encourages track and baseball. Most of his skill players played spring sports which includes track. He did not kick anyone off for participating and any event. One good player made a personal choice to attend a wresting camp which was not a school related in the middle of fall camp. He chose that over football which is fine. Gatewood or any other coach would not allow a player to miss a week of camp either. Life is about making choices. Football is a team sport and individuals cannot miss practice to be on a successful team.
  8. Big rosters and depth don't mean much as someone pointed out earlier. If your Sm you can show up with 20 kids and still be favored. By the way. I disagree with that and know you do as well. Signal will dress mid forties and several kids will play both ways. Fatigue and injuries will be a factor for them.
  9. I'm glad he chose SM for his sake. He made some really good friends and graduated. That's the most important thing.
  10. You do have a problem. It's amazing how you speak as if you know the facts surrounding SM and EH kids. Both the Hogans and the Morgan kid attended Sm for over a year before they ever played in a varsity football game. Hogans was a good little athlete but but played sparingly at SM. Morgan was a foster child that wasn't even out for football until he was asked by a SM parent to consider playing. Again they were at the school a year before they ever played or had the opportunity to beat EH. The Franklin kid was a NCLB kid who attended SM. He did not play the first three years in the SM blowouts. again, he attended Sm for an entire year before he was allowed to participate in a varsity football game. The Garner kid did live on the mountain and I personally ate dinner at their home multiple times. He also played basketball at Sm the previous year before he ever played football. The Sm basketball team does not get much notice in the media or coach T, so you probably missed that. Tim's issue is well documented on these threads so I will not go into that, but I will say it was unfortunate how that played out. My son was a senior that year and missed the play-offs but is still friends with Tim and keeps up with him. There was no animosity, only disappointment in folks like you who spew non factual statements. Anyway. I expect it to be a good game. Coach Gatewood is a good coach and friend of mine for many years and he knows the challenges SM has with having a competitive football. The head coach must be in the classroom 6 periods each day, with only having two FT staff members. They have to mow and upkeep all of their fields that you share with the middle school with no extra money for coaches for their time. They only get what the county pays them. No person would ever do it for the money and sure not the fame. Coach Price and Coach Gatewood do it because they love the kids. The stress from idiots like us make it not worth it.
  11. This is the 6th meeting. Both schools started playing varsity football the same year.SM won the first three in blowouts. EH won the 4th in blowout. Last year it went to the wire.EH should dominate every year based on school size and number of players. I still think it will be a close game.
  12. Should be a good game. Signal will have more balance this year. It will come down to special teams and turnovers just like last year.
  13. Very stupid comment. 28-0 half. Jv backs scored last 21 points on long runs. Not one pass was thrown in second half. I guess the coach is suppose to tell the young backs to lay down and not run hard. That wouldn't be fair to those kids who want success. By the way, how bad did ND beat CCS ? If their coach classless for scoring 50 on a really bad team?
  14. I did not see it but I heard SM won 14-0 against their varsity the day before the Jamboree. Ridgeland is not as good as last year, but they are sold.
  15. On paper EH should win. They have twice the students and twice the prospects. They are bigger and have an experienced QB. It will be an upset if SM wins. That all being said, SM has been tested in the preseason playing three 6A teams, two DII schools and solid Ridgeland team. They played well in each scrimmage. They will not be in awe of EH. It should be interesting!
  16. Too early to tell. Should know more after preseason scrimmages. EH should be loaded. SM should be better. They have lots of young talent.
  17. I must say that South Pitt was very impressive offensively against Signal Mt. That night their offense was equally potent to East Hamilton. And SM couldn’t stop either team. I’d say South Pitt was actually more impressive offensively than Blackmon, which is a solid 6A school. But, you can't go by scores. South Pitt normally only plays their starters against most 1A foes a haIf and they normally score around 50. It's all about match-ups. I will say SM defense was improved the last 4 games and their offense has found some rhythm. People forget that SM lost 9 starters on offense and 8 off the defense from last year's team. If Page is better than SP it will be a tough night for SM, but I have no doubt SM will be ready to play come Friday.
  18. Grundy should win this game by 3 touchdowns. As for next week, ND is solid but Grundy will be ready to play as always. Should be a good game. Who has the home game next week?
  19. EH is the real deal. They should not lose again this year to any local teams. They have the best team in Chattanooga and could win it all.
  20. Last year SM got word from the TSSAA the day of the game. I think they were short three staters on both sides of the ball and had very little to play for after vacating 6 wins. I was told that in last years game the SM punter could not punt. He was hurt early in the game leaving Price no choice but to go for it. But why not go for it...they had nothing to lose that the TSSAA had not already taken. This year Polk should be the favorite. They have a good team and solid coach. SM has the potential to win as well. The teams are more similar this year. This should be a good game to watch.
  21. Since private schools technically have no zones and all of their students are technically recruited to attend the institution whether the students play athletics or not, should not be able to participate in the public state play-offs. If they want to give financial assistance...who cares if they play in their own league. The current system even with a multiplier is not fair, especially if any athlete is receiving financial assistance, which would include a reduction in tuition if a family member works for the school. How many private schools have made it to the finals the last 5 years in all classes? It is bizarre when ND gets kids and coaches coming and going from North Georgia and no-one ever sits out in either direction. That alone should get the TSSAA to look into their program.
