  1. Not to mention the SP kids hanging out at the bathroom that wouldn't let some of our fans go inside it! They also had to go get the cop. Yeah, really classy, but we are the trash.
  2. This really kills me to see our Gordonsville fans jumping on here and apologizing like we are the trash of the earth at Gordonsville. We have played SP many times and there have always been late hits and dirtiness on both sides. Don't act like it has never happened before now. There is some rivalry between these schools and when you have rivalry there is some hatred. As for #51. I don't agree with what he did. I don't ever like to see that stuff, and if he was my son I would have jerked a knot in him. But I am not one of his parents. Your SP fans were bumping our boys when they came out onto the field over by the gate before the game. You grown MEN were talking trash to them and yelling out things that no one should EVER say to a child. This is all fun for you guys. I have read your posts where you brag about your railbirds getting in the player's heads every single game. Then you come on here and whine when your sons get hit because of YOUR words. Your #12 taunted our sideline early in the game. No flag. Your #6 headbutted one of our players. No flag. You get a player ejected, but no it is all about us being classless. Your fans come over to our side and walk through our cheerleaders in the middle of their cheers . This was done more than once. Yet, we are the ones who are classless? No, I will not apologize for what #51 did. Croz gets on here and tells our staff to do this and that, but he LEAVES the game himself? Our supposed best fan?? A true fan NEVER walks out on their team no matter how bad it gets. It is obvious that he has issues with Coach Clemons. He makes digs at him every post. I think Croz should come and compare football knowledge with Coach Marshall some day. I think I know who has more. pasttiger, were you even AT the game? The main thing that happened to us was Cody. Our team was ready to accept he wasn't playing when he got the double pneumonia and had to go in the hospital. They knew they had to step up and play without him. He got released to play and everyone figured he would save the day for us. Well, he came in and played his heart out but it was too much and too soon. He got sick again and had to go out. That took away some of our heart. It is just like seeing one of your teammates go down in a game with a season-ending injury. I think had we had played w/o Cody, we maybe could have made a better showing. Who knows? It is over. Let's face the facts that SP was bigger and faster than we were. They will win state with no problem. Everyone knew what the outcome of this one was going to be before it started. Now as for #51. There was a situation early in the season. #51 addressed the team. The team made the decision for #51 to stay a Tiger. Did you read that? The TEAM decided. The coaches respected the TEAM to make their decision. I have seen #51 play football for many yrs. He made so much progress this year. He knew what would happen if he messed up again. It was made very clear in that meeting. I am proud that he made it that long before blowing. We have played some dirty teams this season and he handled his temper well. My son is a soph. He has played 2 years under this staff and Coach marshall. He has learned so much about football and life. he knows his coaches love him and he loves them back. Isn't that what it is supposed to be like on a TEAM? We will only get better and better at Gordonsville. Players will be developed at the pace they need to be. If only we could keep a few parent's mouths shut and some old-timers who THINK they know what goes on but don't. I am pleased and my son's friend's parents are pleased. I say if you don't like how things are run at Gville, then transfer to CARTHAGE!
  3. All I know is that I am excited to get to go to the pit again, and so is my son. What a good environment for players to play in. I know we will give it all that we 've got on Friday night. It won't be the first or the last time that we will be the underdogs this season. Everyone knows what a great program that South Pitt has. Knowing that last year we were 3-7 with basically the same players tells me what a good job these boys have done in the off-season and what a fine job our coaches have done to get them to buy into their system. What a difference a year makes.
  4. Coming into this one, I felt like we were the underdogs. I didn't understand how the Cougars were being picked over us when you compared the records of wins/losses and who we had played. I saw why. Cougars came ready to play, and we seemed to be looking toward SP and about got ourselves burned. Mtcs has a good program with a good kicker. His kicks kept us penned in and kept our playcalling conservative to keep from turning the ball over or causing a safety. I thought Chaz had a lot of poise. Woodmore proved a lot of things last night to a lot of people. That one run with 4 players riding on his back showed how hard he has worked in the weightroom in the offseason. I heard our seniors did some butt chewing at the half and we came back out ready to get in the ballgame. That is what leadership can do, and I am proud of those srs for stepping up. If we do that next week, it will be a long ride home. I was glad to see Bennett grab those two INTs. He has been so close the last 2 games. You also have to give respect to Webster for playing last night after his injury at practice. Good season to the Cougars and good luck next year. We hope to see you again at our place. You will like our visitors bleachers better than yours. They were an accident waiting to happen. Enjoy the win today, Tigers. Tomorrow begins a new week full of challenges. Go to church tomorrow and count your blessings.
  5. get ready, Cougars. We are bringing the JUNGLE to your place Friday night!
  6. I am so proud of the Tigers and how they played last night. Such fire and such energy. Lookout Valley was big and they were so fast. After that first drive, I was afraid for us. I should have had better faith in our players and our coaches. Adjustments made at the half made all the difference in this one. The boys swarmed to the ball and made a statement. To all the doubters, this team is for real. They will go as far as their hearts take them. Congrats to the teama dn to all of the coaches. Fans, you were the 12th man. Let's load it up and make a good showing at Murfreesboro on Friday. These boys have earned it. To Lookout Valley, I am sorry for you to have to end your season. I hated it for all your seniors. Best of luck to you in your offseason workouts and prep. You have plenty of talent and desire and we hope to see you again next year. good luck.
  7. Grunt, I think you are one smart fellow. I think Croz is passionate for sure, and sometimes when you are emotional like that, you don't really think through what you are saying. To us, it may sound innocent enough, but to teen-aged boys, it sounds critical. It also sounds very judgmental and critical to mommas too. It is fine that you follow the big blue and go to all their games, but let's try to remember that some of these starters are freshmen and there is a big difference in playing in junior high and high school. These boys are not as seasoned as the others. They may be more talented, but lack the actual game experience. So, your expectations may be a little too high right now for their play. As for the young man from Oakland who may be a little rough around the edges, your respect and feelings for our head coach make me smile. Your passion for him is admirable, but I don't think you need to get a posse after us here in Gordonsville. We have been spoiled with winning traditions year after year, so it is hard for some of these fellows to accept that you are young and may lose a game or so trying to get better. I realize that we have come a really long way since last year. Why do you think Coach Dillard gave it up? He knew the dry spell that was coming, and what fans would say when we didn't live up the what is expected in Gordonsville. They expect immediate success. Everything is going to be alright. Everything is when you win.It is going to come and it is going to be awfully sweet when it gets here.
  8. The game has been moved to Thursday night, still at Gordonsville. Not Tennessee tech ~snicker, snicker~ I know our boys are going to come out firing off that line and smacking the slobblerknocker out of Clay County. They will give it their all on every snap, and not quit until that final horn. I am hoping that we have a huge crowd that will rock the jungle and be this team's 12th man. Let's make our house an intimidating place to be where CC can't even hear their own snap count . Let's encourage these boys and get 100 % behind this staff and players, whether they are srs, jrs, sophs or freshmen! Go TIGERS!
  9. I am behind this Tiger team 1000%. That includes every single player on the team and every single coach in this program. I think that some of you forget that we are still (by TSSAA standards) a 1A school who has only played 2 1A teams this season. We have played and beaten one 3A school and almost took down another one in 3A. We beat a 2A school also. I think we can play with just about anyone, but there was no shame in losing to Trousdale or Friendship. We weren't the first schools that happened to this season or the last. Those of us who are realistic knew we were going to have to rebuild and play some players that normally would be on the sidelines. Instead of them being slowly weaned in, they have to start. Because of circumstances, some of them had to grow up fast and contribute right away. Some have been able to swim and some have sunk. That is called life. I for you don't want to see a child of 14 have to go up against an 18 or 19 yr old if they don't have to. They could have a career-ending injury or end up quitting the sport. Letting them watch gets them hungry. You people act like our season is over, when a week or so ago you declared us state champs. I bet you think you could solve all the problems with the Titans or Vols too from the safety of your Lazyboy. I get sick of reading what you say, and my CoachT is blocked on my son's computer so he doesn't have to read your constant criticism. FYI, Our season is NOT over. We have 2 games left against schools in our classification. We have a very good shot of making playoffs. What we have done in the past is irrelevant right now. Let's live in today. There are few players these days on any teams that have the same heart and love for the game as their forefathers did. I know this and you know this. Parents do a lot of interfering these days. In the past, they let the coach have free reign. I think all of you agree that Mr. Medley was a great hard-nosed coach in the past. If you look at some of the things he has done as a high school administrator, you admit he has mellowed alot. He would have shown parents the door that dared to question him and now he doesn't. I still admire him and if he hired Coach Marshall, then the must have thought Coach could turn this ship around. I think so too IF you people would let the man do his job without keeping things stirred up when we LOSE. Go TIGERS!! Let's go out and BEAT CLAY COUNTY! We owe them from last year . Let's put it to them from the first snap to the last one. Let's make them hurt every play by smacking them in the mouth so they don't want to get back up. Let's show them what TIGER FOOTBALL is all about!
  10. pasttiger, you truly have the eye of the tiger. You were on the 84 team? What an honor. I wish I could have seen you play. I have heard some great stories about those days. Thank you for your post. I hope my son and his team can experience what you have done. As long as they keep listening learning and focusing on what the coaches teach them, they can do great things. I would love my son to go down in Tiger history just like you have.
  11. Dear Croz, I want you to know that the first words out of my son's mouth last night after the game was- I wonder what Croz will put on Coacht to put us down this weeK? I try to keep him off this website because of it. That is how much what you say on here effects the players. I heard somewhere that you were a coach yourself? I would not want my son to ever play for you. If you can come onn a public website and say some of the negative things that you do, no telling what you say to your players in private. Words can be read over and over. Yes, they do things wrong. Yes, they do make mistakes. Yes, they do miss a tackle or two along the way. They are children. They are learning. But they have come a long way. Maybe this is your way to try to fire them up? I don't know, but when a child expects to hear negative instead of celebrating a big win something is wrong. Just think about it. There were good things that happened last night. We didn't have a single turnover which is easy to do as sloshed as that field was. Bennett and Webster got INT's. Woodmore recovered a fumble. When we had some awful calls, we didn't give up. Our defense got tired, but Bennett made the big playwhen it counted. Our players could have turned on each other and pointed fingers, but they didn't. Did you see the look on their faces when they knew they won? We had boys playing that have been out sick. They were not 100% recovered but they didn't want to let heir team or coaches down, so they played. Did you see their faces when they iced Coach Marshall after the game? This is a TEAM, my friend. Good job, Tigers. Keep on rolling. We can beat Watertown. Was I wrong, didn't we get a safety?Oh, and thank you pasttiger for your post. It sounds like you have played in the rain before and know what a saturated field can do to a ball and to player's footing.
  12. Tigers, you can do anything that you set your minds to.
  13. Maybe you should watch the DTC replay or borrow a copy of your coach's game film. JC had the ball the last 2 minutes of the game, so how were we passing? ou were driving it pretty good on us til Webster intercepted your QB and ran it til time expired. We couldn't sub anyone because of your Hurry Up offense. We did have some younger players in the game. At one time we had 4 freshmen on the field, and one of our linemen is a freshman. Freshmen have to take their lumps. It is a passage of rights.Your players took forever to get to a knee when Gillespie got hurt. You don't hear us on here whining about that, do you? Sometimes it takes a second or two to see that someone is down. The people that realize it first are always the parents of the player injured, and they are the ones who get the most upset. I don't blame them, because I have been in their shoes before. I assume you are his parent. I am sorry that your player was hurt on the play, and hope that he is OK. Fans were celebrating the hit and the fact that no bogus flag was called for once against us. As soon as they realized he wasn't getting up, we took the knee. Look at the film if you don't believe me. By the way, your kicker probably deserved an Oscar for his performance. Good luck to your team. As for your remark about our head coach, I think we will KEEP him. He has been an excellent role model for my son and his friends. We will keep improving week by week. Probably the best thing to happen Friday night were the bad calls. They rallied the fans and the players to a support that I haven't seen since week one. We have to keep encouraging and supporting this young team.
  14. I agree with you Blubellz. The last couple of weeks we found ourselves in the eye of a monstrous storm. Our house may show some damage, but is still standing. The work crews are on the job as we speak, and our house will be like brand new as we face Monterey. I believe in this team and in this staff and know they can get the job done. We all have to pull together and set a good example for our sons. How can they believe in themselves if we don't show them that we believe in their TEAM? My Daddy always told me that you should never question anyone else in their performance unless you have proven you have done their job and done it better yourself. I know I haven't, so I keep my mouth shut. We have some fans that probably need to take a lesson from my daddy. Remember that a team effort requires the whole kit and kaboodle to support.
  15. I have more than one son who has played football for the big blue at Gordonsville. I see strength, pride, confidence, and work ethic on this 09 team that I haven't seen in a long time. They worked hard all winter and summer long. They are excited coming out wearing their new uniforms against Smith County. They are pleased about many of the changes that have been made. My son reads CoachT and gets upset when he sees the comments that you have made recently on here. All teams have problems, even your junior pro team. We taught our sons that what goes on at home stays at home and what goes on in the locker room stays in the locker room. It would be nice if you practiced that too and just supported the team. Go Tigers! Beat Smith County!
