  1. Just heard from a reliable source this morning that Ta Rice did indeed make the moves (along with another soph) to transfer to Goodpasture. However, he decided against it and is coming back to Gallatin. I do not know about the status of the other kid.
  2. I haven't heard of anyone leaving the team. This week is the second week of dead period, so I wouldnt think anyone would have quit this week or even be able to tell the coaches since there is no contact between the two parties. It would surprise me to see a few drop off throughout the summer, there are quite a few on the team right now, just weeding out so to speak.
  3. I'm not sure how many buses are going, but if you have a Facebook account you can search Cheer Gallatin and message them. I know there was an informational meeting last Thursday.
  4. Gallatin vs Beech should be a great one.
  5. I beg to differ. Perry gained almost half his yards after contact. He didn't have to juke your little pretty boy Sites when he ran right into him and kept going to the outside. Perry couldn't be contained in either game this year so stop trying to use your win as a means for Haymer being better than Perry. Their both great backs, matter of fact both offenses were not going to be stopped. Hoever, two Gallatin turnovers led to 14 points for Beech and that was the difference in the game this late in the postseason. By the way, be thanking your lucky stars Coach Lassiter didn't run any more sweeps or option runs than he did. (Which was two times, one for a touchdown and the other for 40+ yards down to the 1 yard line.) Don't try to put Gallatin down after a hard fought game that could have easily gone either. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, be grateful for the things that you and the rest of our district has done.
  6. Here's what the news has so far. http://www.wsmv.com/news/21473533/detail.html
  7. I just received some sad news that Coach Lassiter's brother was shot and killed last night. Please keep the Gallatin community in your prayers as they go through a toughtime, especially the Lassiter family.
  8. It's amazing how folks get on here and trash Gallatin's stadium. For one, the field is not in terrible shape, the only muddy part of it is the far corner of the south end zone on the away side. In fact I bet the individual who made that statement hasn't even seen the field. If you would like to see a terrible playing surface go look at Beech's right now. I'm not saying their field generally bad, but they have had the misfortune of five home games in the last six weeks in an unusually wet fall. As for the the overall shape of Gallatin's stadium, yes it is old and yes there are improvements to be made, but that is what makes it such a great atmosphere; the closeness to the field and all the memories of past teams all the way back to the 1930's. What would be nice is if such a high and mighty school as Hville with all their deep-pocketed individuals could provide adequet seating for the fans that a team like Gallatin brings to the game. Come on guys, Hartsville's visitor side is bigger than yours.
  9. Just thought I would throw some numbers out there to clarify the "best defense in the district" statements about Beech: Beech avg/gm-15.7 Gallatin avg/gm-9.5 (Half of those points coming against MJ)
  10. Uh "tandem", or whoever you are, no one from Gallatin even brought up tradition until it was basically thrown in the garbage can by some people on here. I realize its a good way to stir a bee's nest so to speak, but as far as your numbers, they can be deceiving. SC has the same number of wins as Gallatin, but half of theirs came last year. (Not to mention Gallatin would surely have more playoff wins coming in 2003-had to forfeit 5 games because of a player that was later declared eligible, and in 2006 when the team when undefeated in the regular season, lost their starting qb in the 2nd to last game, and drew Ravenwood the state runner up that year in the first round.) With all that said I know how excuses can sound so I'll stop. One final thought, I don't think you can say "the neighbors" have passed Gallatin in anything until they have a state championship. White House is probably the only one even with Gallatin at the present time.
  11. graider1976, what on God's green earth are you talking about?! Gallatin is a family atmosphere like most schools in this area. Yeah everybody has their unruly fans and oddballs, but come on that is pathetic. Your comments make you sound like one of the unruly fans I have to put up with at a game. And to all those who say Gallatin will quit and they have no tradition, your class is appalling. For one, I think any logical person knows that Gallatin teams don't just quit; no matter the coacht, the team, or the year. And secondly, it is because of the success that Gallatin has had that makes it possible for all you naysayers to have something to talk about. Gallatin may not have won a gold ball since '92 and the playoff records in past 5 years or so may be down, but when your expectations are as high as they are here (much like Trousdale Co., Maryville, Oak Ridge, Melrose, etc.) then anything other than a state championship is considered a failure.
  12. Wow and I guess Beech's tradition and state championships is much better than Gallatin. Uh NOT!!! Maybe Gallatin hasn't won a state championship since 1992, but we've done it 3 times and are considered a tradition rich program by many in the state. Maybe if you escape from your caccoon and ask around you'll find out. Not trying to talk trash or anything, but seriously thats more than just a little disrespectful. And would someone please explain to me where the notion of Gallatin giving up and folding in the 4th quarter came from !?!?!? Honestly? Thats one of the silliest things I've heard.
  13. Then again you would be wrong. I'm not being cocky and just trying to defend Gallatin, but there is just no quit in that program. If you don't want to play, then there's somebody's eager and waiting to replace you. Quitting is not an option plain and simple.
  14. This is the biggest game for Gallatin since the Mount Juliet game. I think the offense has been sputtering a little; part execution, part playcalling, but with the players we have at skill positions I think its about time we got clicking again. Beech is a very solid team. Watched them beat a good White House ball club. Zinchinni and I think #5 are playmakers. Their offense and special teams are their strength. ( Not saying the defense is bad.) As far as strength of schedule, Gallatin has got to have the edge already playing Mt Juliet and a Brentwood. Should be a great game with a big crowd. And as far as Golddust's comment about the Gallatin's conditioning in the 4th quarter, that's nonsense. Gallatin is one of the best conditioned teams in the state. They will not get beat in the end because of fatigue.
  15. I specifically remember a clause on the TSSAA website that prohibits fireworks. With that said, I have seen it two years in a row but its always been towards the end of the season close to playoff time. I am just speculating now, but it may be that the fireworks are only prohibited during the postseason. Either way I'm sure this adds to the already electric atmosphere at most high school games.
  16. I would compare Portland to an up and coming Texas Tech if you watch college football. They run the Tony Franklin system (now the OC at MTSU) which is a 4 and 5 wide spread offense and just hope they can outscore the opponent. I think it can work in due time if the players commit to it, but as for this year its just too much to ask of high school players to put in the time needed to learn the ins ands outs of this offense. As far as the actual game, I am slighty worried about our defensive backfield. We have been improving leaps and bounds every week, but we still have 4 soph starting back there. Let's hope for a good week of practice and get ready for the purple people eaters.
  17. It amazes how the Bison fans can be so qiuet and then try to sneak their bold predictions in at the last minute. Haha I will say that atmosphere throughtout town is incredible. You can just tell people are ready for this one. We'll see if the dog's bite can live up to their barks tonight!! Go Green Wave!!!
  18. Ok good. I thought I was the only one that noticed. I figured with this being the first meeting between these two teams that we would have all sorts of people on here. I know, in town atleast, that ever since the schedule game out with this game there has been plenty of talking (for lack of a better word).
  19. Its next year. We play Massillion in Ohio for the Kirk Herbstreet classic.
  20. I've been waiting for this one and its finally here. Ever since Station Camp has opened there was an immediate rivalry between the two schools. I know alot of former players from the past years have been riding the current team's backs about this one. I'll second the suggestion of getting to the game early. One of the smallest visitor stands that I've seen in 5-A. I hope Gallatin can stay focused and not get wrapped up in the emotions that are sure to be very evident at this game. Go Green Wave and let's show em what football in Gallatin is all about! P.S. I would like to hear from some people on here. The Gallatin boards have been pretty dead the last few weeks.
  21. Wc07, have you ever thought that maybe he's tried every other option possible to motivate these kids and get them focused? Personally I think its the players who are missing practice that are at fault. If they really wanted to play football then they would be committed. You are either all in or not in at all when it comes to the idea of a team. I know it may seem quite brash for the coach to say something like that, but maybe its his last hope at motivating these young kids.
  22. Well that makes one or two people that predicted a blowout. I was just making a point that one or two posts does not mean the overall feeling of the Gallatin fan base is that this will be a blowout.
  23. I'll be the first to say that Hville may be the best team in the district. (We'll find out Friday.) But saying that last Friday's loss to LaVergne wasn't a choke is suger-coating it. LaVergne may have had a slight mental edge with it being homecoming, but Hville is a physical team that should have been able to establish the run. And don't let the new classifications fool you, remember last year Hville won the region in 5A. As for this week's game, I think it will be hard for Hville to pull this one out without their starting quarterback. This will be a typical Sumner County matchup with great defense and lots of running plays, but I think to key to this game is the passing game. I'll give the slight edge to MJ, however I don't know the status of Hville's qb. Should be a great game and watch the WR #4 for Hville he's a playmaker.
  24. OaklandPatriots, my apologies. I looked at the wrongg username. To clear that up, the two people that predicted a blowout are MJ and Hville fans. Again sorry for the confusion.
  25. Dubc05, you might want to check your facts. It was an Oakland fan that said that Gallatin would mercy rule WC. Gallatin knows full well that they can't just show up and expect to win. With that said, having negative 60 something yards of offense against a less than top tier team was not exactly impressive. Gallatin will try to pound the rock as usual with Perry, Matthews, and Box. I think the key to the game will be the execution and effectiveness of Gallatin O and D lines. If they can play up to their potential then we should take this game. And before you get all tore up, I'm not saying its gonna be a blowout. Just a side note, Gallatin gets Slayton will be back this week as the starting center and should get some snaps on defense. Can't wait for the game Friday. Good to be playing in the Pit again.
