  1. Sorry I had slipped up on my facts, I got caught up on how much of an absolute Cluster-____ the entire game was. Once again 1000 apologies. "OaklandPatriots", you are just everywhere at once aren't you?
  2. Yes RHS won, and if nothing else this means that they start off district action on the right foot. But besides that it was a dis-concerning game for Raptor purests. The new Ravenwood looked sloppy and undisciplined. I have to echo what "thespoon" said, the seem to not be focusing on the little things that win games. Ravenwood does not have the skill players and speed that will allow them to win games despite a plethora of penalties. RHS is going to have clean it up if they want to make a run at the postseason.
  3. Once again I am in agreement with "HillsboroBurros123", Nothing HHS has done thus far this season really matters. They have faced to strong opponents, they have faced adversity. But know it is time for some meaningful district action, these are the games that matter in the long run. RHS will be a great opener to district action. I would love to see HHS make a statement and open up district action on the right foot.
  4. Once again "longhorns" you have mis-interperated my argument. You think that I am initiating a full-on assault on the passing-game (and every player associated with that aspect of the game). As where you have expressed that Franklin is trying to not a be a one-dimensional team, and develop a passing game to some degree. In an effort to be more "balanced" (as you put it). I would counter your side of the argument that Franklin is not trying to "develop" a passing game. They are trying to "force" a passing game. And maybe, just maybe, Franklin does not have the tools & weapons to effectively develop an extremely effective passing game. But the people behind the scenes at Franklin seem heck-bent on forcing and imagining this into existence. Now let me please address the concerns at the QB position. I understand that this is a young kid. I understand that he is a Sophomore. And I think that he may have an unlimited level of potential (every kid has unlimited potential with enough hard work). He has shown that he can throw a decent ball. But please understand that being a QB is more than simply throwing a tight spiral. There are many aspects to this game and QB is no different. But I pity this poor kid, because it is in these technical aspects that he is lacking. His discrepincies fall under the following categories (and I am going to be as descriptive as possible to avoid miss-communication); He does not have any type of "drive step" to get out from under center, He has poor over-all foot-work when dropping back to pass, He has slow feet when rolling out of the pocket, he does not step into any of his throws, His elbows are incredibly low when he releases the ball. Basically I am saying that the talent & potential may be there but the fine-tuning & technique is not. And these are the areas that I have not seen improvement in from the first scrimmage until now. And I do not fault the kid, in fact I feel quite sorry for him. Because he apparently does not have the proper coaching in order to affect these areas of concern. I feel bad because the kid has not been put in an atmosphere where he can strive and improve as a QB. I will give you a minute to digest this... You are the type of person who looks at TD/ INT ratios (you do understand ratios right?...) and completion percentages. That is probably how you quantify success and improvement. I would challenge you to expand your horizons and observe the other minute influences behind the game of football next time you sit down to watch a game. Basically I am challenging for you to expand you football intellect... you never know you might learn something.
  5. Listen "Longhornshookem" if you want to personally take on every comment, and turn them into your own personal argument. Go ahead and be my guest. But do this with the understanding that some of us will continue coming back asking the new question, and posing the new challenge. Now do you see the fallacy in your very own argument. Maybe you do not, sometimes you can be to close to the heart of the argument to be able to reason properly. On one side, you defend a young growing QB, whose struggles have been pointed out and questioned. People have asked why this kid (and I do mean kid in the purest sense) is being asked to throw the ball so much. Now maybe people are asking the question to vaguely. Maybe it should be proposed in a different light, maybe people should ask it as follows; "why doesn't he throw out of Play Action more often?" "why doesn't Franklin set the run up in order to open the passing game up?" "why doesn't Franklin set-up in double TEs in order for maximum protection?" But they don't ask these questions, they simply ask "why is he throwing the ball so much?" And you respond with the defensive claim of, he is getting his chance to work out the kinks now against non-district teams before the schedule thickens up with important play-off implicating games (but you do not phrase it like that either). You talk about a growth process. Now people ask you why they do not see more #4, #5, and #2 running with the ball out of the backfield. And you argue against these claims by saying that the Offensive line is not ready. The Offensive line is not able to give these running backs the chance to run across, through, and over the opposition. You claim the inability of the offensive line, in fact you claim the same inability that people impose on your QB (and yes, I do say your QB because you have taken it upon yourself to defend him in every action). But yet you do not think that the offensive line should get the same chance to "work the kinks out". You simply say they are in-able. Why don't the 5 offensive linemen get the same chance to stumble around before the pace quickens? I am not the enemy, I am just trying to clarify a repetitive argument that is frankly getting ignorantly annoying.
  6. Let me explain you the two sides of this argument "longhornshookem". While you are claiming "balance", others are screaming "adapt". Now I will not insult your intelligence and give you the Webster's definition, but I will assume that you know what the term "adapt" means. You do don't you? Just to prove my case, I will give you a handful of examples. The Smryna Bulldogs team of 07 was incredibly balanced, and believe me when I say that they had the means to be. They had talent & ability at every position, and this alone allowed them to be balanced. But lets take the Oakland Patriots of 08, were they a balanced team? The answer to this question is "NO", they adapted & adjusted and became a one-sided ground-pound-game type of team. They did what they could do and did it quite well might I add. I can give you examples of successful teams adapting all day long, but I will spare you. And I am one forever in favor of "adapt".
  7. Balance? Balance? Balance? Are we seriously talking about Balance? Do you want my personal opinion on Balance? Ask Oakland fans what an attempt at balance gets you. Ask Oakland how "Balance" feels when you balance out your run-game with a throw down on the goal line to win the game in overtime. The idea of "balance" lost them the ball game. That is what I think about balance, especially when you have a great ground-game. I know you all are making the argument for little ole #11 to get his reps in now (or should we say get his INTs in now). But how about letting a new Offensive line find its rhythm, how about letting a few RBs get their timing down and re-tune their cuts & vision.
  8. The coaches are more than capable and I agree with "HillsboroBurros123" to the fullest. But if kids are going to start quitting and leaving their team-mates after two games... then they aren't the type of championship athlete that deserve to be mentioned alongside HHS's past players.
  9. But this game has serious play-off implications. especially how HHS & RHS are performing right now. This district could very well be decided in three games. 1) Brentwood vs Independence 2) Independence vs Franklin 3) Franklin vs Brentwood This weekend could end up being the district championship game, with the inconsistensy FHS has been showing
  10. I wouldn't say Oakland was on the receiving end of a beating at all against Ensworth. It was an overtime game, what type of overtime game is ever considered a "beating"? And Oakland was running through Ensworth, and controlling both sides of the line of scrimmage. They lost on a play when they decided to get cute and put the ball up in the air. In fact, Oakland struggled against IHS when they decided to put the ball in the air. It is beyond my understanding why a team like Oakland put the ball up in the air more than 5 times a game. But I am getting away from the point... Oakland is a dominating team between the tackles (on both sides), and is one of the most well-conditioned teams in the state. They can last 4 quarters against anyone, the 4th quarter is their world.
  11. If that is true, that needs to change. If Moreno is doing this "I'll run the defense and let ya'll run the offense" thing, he should essentially be the head coach/DC of the defense and Komisar should be associate head coach/OC of the offense. That is just my opinion though. From what I understand, the kids aren't buying in to the coaches and it seems to me it is mostly because the coaches haven't provided the same structured environment of high expectations that they are used to. I just wanted to make a comment on the last paragraph. If I may ask a question... How many of the coaching staff are currently teachers inside of HHS? If I am correct, it is a surprisingly small number. Coach Moreno may be having a hard time setting expectations high and controlling his athletes, but that could be attributed to him (and his coaching staff) not having the overall presence in the school. Being a High School football coach is more than Xs & Os on Friday night, it is about taking an active role in kid's lives and pushing them past their limits on towards bigger & better things. And I don't think the administration at HHS is allowing the coaching staff to take this next step within the kid's lives. Do your home-work, HHS's principle does not have the greatest reputation for dealing with athletic departments and their needs. Coach A. saw this coming, and got out of time when the getting was good.
  12. Hillsboro has the talent (although it may be young), and Coach Moreno is a quality defensive coach. It may take time to get his feet underneath him, and it may take time to mature & grow some talent, but Coach Moreno must be allowed to surround him with a capable coaching staff, that can wrangle a metro program at HHS. It doesn't take an insider to realize that Coach Moreno has been "hand-cuffed" at HHS, he has not been allowed to harvest coaches. In fact look at this Burro fans, he does not even have a single offensive coach alongside him. Do you really think somebody who was a perennial play-off contender at Hunter's Lane has "chose" to place himself in this predicament? Burro faithful, circle the wagons, and support your football team (in every aspect). District action is just around the corner, this season is just about to start.
  13. At a certain point in this "rivalry" (even as one-sided as it has been) fans will start to ask "when?", and until that fateful day every year will continue to be a new-chance to be the first. Let me remind everybody out there, "there is a first time for everything." And once again until that "first time" happens we will sit here and ponder the chances and possibilities of this being the year. And I could see his being the possible/ potential first in a long line of almosts and failures. For the simple fact that people can not see 09' being the year that Centennial finally beats Franklin. And myself (like many others) believe that Franklin may be the bigger & better team fully capable of continuing the streak. But I think that many are already giving the "win" to the Rebels from Franklin. I think that many are already looking forward to facing the Ootlewah Owls in two weeks. I can almost hear the whispers of the Anderson versus Smith match-up in the trenches, I can almost hear the whispers of Franklin's trio running up against Ootlewah's defense. And it is these whispers that could make the Centennial Cougars of 09' legendary. And if I am a fan, player, and/ or coach wearing maroon this week I am walking around looking at my feet searching for the possible trap along the ground. This is the first district game for the Franklin Rebels (as well as the Centennial Cougars), this is the first bullet out of the chamber. But I feel that Franklin is starting to look down their schedule and are starting to chalk up "W"s. Franklin is itching to play a Hillsboro team that is looking anemic, Franklin is watching the inability to stop the run down the road at Independence, Franklin is heeding the rumors of a faltering Ravenwood dynasty, Franklin is already looking forward to a grand match-up in week 10 against the Brentwood Bruins. People are already calling that game the "distict championship", Franklin is watching their season run parallel along with Brentwood before the season has even gotten underway. It is because of this that I can see the possibility of Centennial shocking the mid-state on Friday night. And it would not be the first time that Franklin was left speechless at Howard Gamble Stadium.
  14. You INDY fans make my day. After a victory in week 0 every single one of you thought you were a solid bet against Oakland (and everything that they bring to the table). Now after a humbling lose against an Oakland team (who could be the best in the state), you INDY fans have tucked your tail between your legs and are already giving the game to Brentwood's running game. What an absolute group of fair weather fans (a far cry from the resolute INDY faithful of 07). I really wonder what shape the morale of INDY will be after the Brentwood & MBA games?!?! How will INDY react after they are 1-3?!?!
  15. INDY goes off and beats a Seigal team (which no one know what to expect from), and all of a sudden they are State Champion material, who is going to give one of the toughest most dominating teams in the state of Tennessee are good run for its money. What are ya'll on down there in INDY nation. You did not beat anybody worth bragging about last year, and now you are "state champs". Please INDY, please shut up, and bow down in the presence of greatness Friday. Because you are about to have your world turned upside down.
  16. The word "Change" might be a massive understatement of what Franklin needs...Miracle might be more appropriate. You can tell a lot from 1 game, especially when it was against a team that they should have strangled and beat by 3-4 touchdowns. You can not tell me that Franklin was only 4 points better than a sophmore BGA team. You can tell that Franklin can not depend on its seniors to get the Job done. #4 can not be asked to play both ways. #28 can not be asked to make a "gimme" interception. #30 can not be asked to control the middle. In short Franklin can not be asked to get the job done.
  17. REAL athletes can play both ways. and if they were REAL athletes they would be ready and in shape ready to make a difference on both sides of the ball. So now besides being over-rated they are LAZY... wow
  18. Apparently nobody told LaVerne that they were supposed to "roll-over" and play dead for the Bruins. LHS is one of those teams that can come out and give any team trouble, but the question is always, "will they show up?" Brentwood is a different type of BHS team, they actually have an offensive backfield this year that can help a young-no-name defense find its game legs. The defensive struggles & progression will be the thing to watch from Brentwood all year long.
  19. These next few games will test what type of heart good ole' IHS has. Can they survive the physical beating of teams like Oakland, MBA, and then Brentwood? Isn't Heckman already falling apart??? From what I saw Saturday night, Oakland can run through anybody, but if IHS thinks they have a chance it will be time to see if that Drew Kelly kid is the world-beater that he is made out to be. Centennial vs Antioch... is a toss-up, both teams have talent, and both teams do not know what to do with it. It truly depends on what team decides to show up and play 4 quarters.
  20. I have heard about this "3-back-combo" all off-season. And Frankly these running backs are not as good as the Rebel faithful believe. The great #4 is running like he is starting to read his own press clippings, in fact #2 & #5 carried the ball as if they all were buying into their own bull-&^%*. As of right now only one word can describe the Rebel backfield... "over-rated" let me say that again. Alex Ford is over-rated Kilo Lee is over-rated Sean Die is over-rated Its 09' Franklin, and 08' is no longer relevant.
