  1. Last season, Dresden played Westwood at Crump Stadium. Not sure where they will play this one at.
  2. Heck I hope West TN brings home 5 gold footballs. Dresden's Head Coach is a Whitehaven Alumni. No one is trying to exclude Memphis teams. USJ is also playing, but the comment was meant as a compliment to rural West TN.
  3. Last time I traveled to Adamsville, left with a sour taste after watching us lose a sub-state basketball game. Hope we can come out winners this time! Should be an excellent game. To those in the know, how is the parking around the stadium? GO Lions!!!
  4. 36 hours til game time. Hope the Lions are ready. Stay HUNGRY!!!
  5. The Stadium is located at Memphis Central. Easiest way to get there is take I40 all the way into downtown until it ends. Turn left (Sam Cooper Blvd i think)then go a couple of blocks to Union. Turn right on Union and go until you see Methodist University Hospital on the left. Crump Stadium is directly behind the Hospital. There is a large lot for Hospital Parking, but you might be able to park there and walk across the street into the stadium. Lots of police presence due to a police station being up the street a few blocks on Union. Interesting history on Crump stadium. Original Memphis State Stadium before the Liberty Bowl Stadium was built. Had a major facelift a few years ago. I think it might even have turf. Not sure about that though. Good Luck Lions and safe Travel!
  6. Dresden has a few barber shops. Maybe a haircut is what Samson needs.
  7. Dresden is starting to play more than half a game finally. Came out and played pretty good football for the most part. Final 39 to 7. Still got some banged up, but who doesn't have some walking wounded? O line playing better. Keep it up Lions!
  8. The winner of this game will be the one who wins the turnovers and field position battle. Both Defenses will work to limit the number of touches the opponent has. I see a low scoring game. Wouldn't be suprised if the total points is less than 20. If Dresden wins, is it an upset?
  9. Just wondering how much rain have you been getting in Decatur Co? I remember the last game, Dresden's sideline was standing in water in the middle of a long dry spell. Wondering if Riverside will wet the field again, or wait on mother nature this time? Seems like trying to slow down the spread with the wet field might have made the ball slick!
  10. Lots of sportsmanship from both sides after the game. One thing that does stick out. Dresden sideline was standing in water. Field was torn up in several places after the game from the amount of water put on the field. Is this payback for the rain soaked slop from last year, or was that a way of trying to slow down the spread? I am pretty sure the field was not a result of all the rain that West TN has been getting!
  11. The game can be summed up in three words. Ugly, ugly, ugly. Neither team played well in the first half. 6 turnovers by the Lions will not help win many games. McKenzie played in spurts but neither team really looked too sharp. Score could have been closer, but also score could have been worse. I thought three plays sealed the fate of the Lions. The first was not scoring when they missed the field goal. To be in the red zone and come away with nothing was painful. The second was when Dresden's db tried for the pick. Can't fault the db for being aggressive, but giving up a 63 yard screen pass for a TD was huge! And the third was when Dresden moves the ball down the field on a big pass only to turn it over deep in Rebel territory. Too many mistakes against a team as good as McKenzie will get you beat on most nights. Hats off to the Rebels, though they did not come out playing good ball, they played better ball than the Lions. Good luck next week against the Tide.
  12. Great game to watch! First half Dresden played keep away controlling the tempo and time of possession. 13-0 Dresden at half. Trenton made some great adjustments and took the ball down the field to start the third. 13-7 after 3 qtrs. Dresden's D stopped Trenton on two possessions inside the ten in the fourth to hold on for the victory. Great effort by both clubs!
  13. If Dresden would have taken care of business against Halls this would not even be a discussion! As for the game, Gleason will come ready to play. Looking at similar opponents, it will be a close one! West Carroll (Gleason loses 24-22; Dresden wins 14-10) Halls (Gleason wins 28-6, Dresden loses 17-18) McKenzie (Gl loses 0-41, Dr loses 26-53) South Fulton (Gl wins 34-21, Dr plays SF in Jamboree pre-Avent and wins big) Bruceton (Gl w 41-6; Dr w 35-0) Greenfield (Gl w 14-12; Dr w 34-12) Huntingdon (Gl l 0-55; Dr l 14-41) The weatherman is calling for rain. Who does this help/hurt? Shouldn't it slow the faster team down, or does it affect the passing team more?
  14. Not sure about TSSAA. WCMT radio, Weakley County Press and Dresden Enterprise all had media reps there. How much more local can you get?
  15. Final 14 to 10 Dresden over West Carroll. Played 10/15/09 (Thursday night). If you need evidence, drive by Rotary Field, can't tell the hog lot from the football field after two weeks of rainy night football. http://www.wcmt.com/sports.htm
  16. Remind me, what region has Trenton been in the last several years? Milan, Westview, USJ, JCS, etc... Throw in county rivals Humboldt and GCHS(always plays Trenton close), and their schedule was a nightmare. I am sure you can recall games that Peabody should have won, but maybe being beat up with injuries might have hurt their chances. Not making excuses, but hind sight is 20/20. We all have things that we would like to go back and change. Unfortunately, the region Peabody had to play in was one of (if not the) toughest regions in the state.
  17. Re: Mckenzie vs. Dresden by GCPioneer » Fri Sep 04, 2009 4:17 pm "HAHAHA, YOU'RE RIDICULOUS! Ya'll got past the 50 yard line maybe twice in that scrimmage, lol. First, you said ya'll only had 1 player out. Now, you say 3 players out. You should just stick to complaining about schools being bigger than you instead of acting like beating GC in a scrimmage was winning the superbowl, lol. If Dresden would beat us this year, why'd we pitch a shutout on 'em last year and beat 'em 48-0? We only graduated like 3-4 key players. 2 were Off. Linemen and 1 was a DE. We have all the skilled players back this year. Dresden IS NOT 48 points better than last year, sorry!"
  18. 3 or 4 interceptions, and a couple fumbles in the 1st half for Dresden. But still in the game at the half, down 14 to 6. Second half, Dresden stops 1st McKenzie drive, and starts to move the ball. Stripped pass returned for TD was huge for McKenzie. Dresden lost a little wind out of their sails on that one. Add a blocked punt for TD and the game was basically over. Dresden did not quit. They continued to play ball. The score was not as close as the game. Fatigue really did not beat the Lions, turn overs and penalties did. Dresden is much improved from last year. McKenzie played solid ball. #44 for Dresden and #27 for McKenzie can start in my backfield any day! They are hard runners and carry the ball well. Good Luck to both teams next week.
