  1. I am excited to see who comes out on top, Oliver Springs or Wartburg. I do agree that things happen during games that look dirty, but truthfully I dont think Oliver Sprigs is a dirty team. BUT I do think if I was a player it would be very hard for me to play at Oliver Springs just because the atmosphere is want every team wants at their own place. I also think that Wartburg might be another harder place to play at in the district because like Oliver Springs the fans are so close and usually the student section is large. Just because its loud, theres a big student section, and/or the fans are so close at Oliver Springs or even wartburg doesnt mean that it is unfair, it just means the game is better and more exciting. For example, who would want to play a big district game at somewhere like Harriman? Its so big in there for so little amount of people who usually attend. If I had to pick where I wanted to play a big game, it would be at Wartburg or Oliver Springs, and anyone who likes an exciting game would agree.
  2. The East TN girls’ basketball teams are always and will continue to be the toughest and most competitive region or area in TN. Of course, I think that NG and Cloudland are great teams with qualities within that are unmentionable, but that does not mean that they are unbeatable or even untouchable. We all know that last year Oakdale had their cards laid just right for them and they SHOULD have won because they got every chance in the world but that is the very example that shows that with any team coming into a game ready to play the possibilities are in the air. Another examples from Christopher and Hall’s senior year of Oakdale almost beating them, and they weren’t good then. Or even OS beating Webb a few years ago when they had two future lady vols. It happens to every team and there are examples in every sport and team. There are many times in the past that the results came out completely opposite of what they should have been or were. Just because a team is rebuilding this year doesn’t mean they won’t make some noise during the tournament time. That’s what regular season and summer is for... getting ready for tournament time! I am definitely not downing in team because we all love the completion level in this area and we would never want this district to become a weak one.
  3. As always this district is the most exciting and always a close race to see who comes out on top. In my opinion this is how I see the teams this year. In no special order... Sunbright finally is getting who and what they need for the program. Although I did not see them this summer they should start to hold their own especially within the next few years depending on talent they get. Widick and the Williams twins, if they are playing, should keep the team afloat if they can keep the team together. Wartburg, like always, has a good coaching staff and the team always seems to have plenty of chemistry which takes teams farther then what most people think. Kidd, Davidson, and Lowe are the only few that pop into my head at the time but I do know this team has great potential this year. Also Laughter has some potential this year to take over a game. I seen them only a few times in the summer and seem to be doing fairly fine and if I am correct have a good working freshmen class but, since they are freshmen, will they be ready come district play? Jellico had one or two talented kids last year but didn't know what to do with them. Are they still there? Oliver Springs seemed to be doing fine in the summer when I did see them. Although they lost 5 seniors last year they will do just fine. Last year they went without Harvey most of the time and the big post player that graduated will not affect the team in my eyes. They have Martin and Christopher to replace and I think they are very very well capable of picking up the slack. Then, you have Ball and Carter for guards. I think they have big potential also this year if they can keep in together. They also have a good freshmen class including twins that have GREAT potential but like Wartburg will they be able to carry their own in district play. How good will Christopher Ball and even Carter be this year now that all the pressure is on them? Coalfield only has one player, Hamby. They lost way too much last year, to be the same type of team they have been the last few years, this year. They usually are in the top 3 teams of the district but I will be surprised to see how well the Coach does with them this year. The Coach is good so I am excited to see what she does with them this year. How will Hamby pull the team this year considering she has quite large shoes to fill? Oakdale has good players and coaches like the past years but I have heard they are struggling to stay a team now that McGill and Snow have left. Of course Kilby, Redman, and Thompson are great players but in the summer they seemed to be struggling to put their talents together. Oneidea will struggle some in my opinion because of the lost of Bond Love and the point guard. I do think that Yaden will come alive this year but am not sure about the others. What are your opinions?
  4. I agree, but what else would they want to talk about?
  5. To say the least, District 4a has some of the best coaches around as said well eairler before. Also said before, I believe we bash them too much! They all know what they need to win, and by george they will give all they have for their team also! I'm sure CMC is not the only coach refuses to talk to parents. The question to ask yourself is "Would you talk to fussy parents that just want to complain and argue because their kid is not play?" NO! This district will be a competition of who wants it more. They all have want it takes to get to the top. It will just depend on who is playing well that night. Coalfield will be a good team agian this year as they always are because of Jordan and now sophomore Hamby. Oakdale did not lose anyone and will give everyone a run for their money! Sunbright has lost their 2 best players to ACL, nad that will hurt them very much who will step up for them? Wartburg lost Lowe to ACL also and they will still be close to top. OZ lost 3 key players but will still pull their own weight with Murry, Christopher, Harvey, and Carter.. They lost 7 seniors 2 years ago and manage to win District??
  6. This was said very well. Many parents try to have a good spirit about these kinds of things, but in the end they are just rude and make fools of themselves. Believe it or not the coaches know what is what and how to do it that's why they are the coaches! I think most teams have a problem with the parents stiring things up. It does not only have an effect on the coach but your child has to listen to it, and the team struggles as a whole when they should be coming to together.
  7. Sunbright-I'm not all that sure about them but hopefully they'll do good. Coalfield-Didn't lose all that much, but if rumors are true and losing Jordan and Scarborough then they don't have much hope because both of them are big players to that team. Also, they seem to have a tough time getting along well. Maybe they will change that this year, and do well. Oneida-Good coach, but that's about it. They lost a few so maybe the remaining kids can do good. OZ-Also lost ALOT mainly 2 important players, but maybe Harper and Raby can hold up the fort. Young team from what i've heard, but good work ethic? Oakdale-They have a few older ones, but depending alot on young Redmon. Any good freshman? Wartburg-Lost main scorer, Armes, and just a few more. That's about all the lost, but they will still be a good rounded team with Founatin. This year should be a very intersting one to watch.
