  1. It's unfortunate but the game atmosphere has become toxic over the last few years. It has affected the entire school system. its time to let it cool off. Look at the posts of the MCHS fans to get a small taste of what it is like. The events at this year's game were beyond the pale. Jealousy is a terrible thing. I honestly hope Coach Hodge can rebuild McNairy's program but until the he and the fans stop worrying about A'ville and focus on their own, it's a hard row to hoe. Dropping the series might help them get their priorities in order.
  2. Defense looks really good with only 4 starters (41, 22, 64, 13) graduating. If 32 continues to develop and gains 20-30 lbs--we could have another Josh Carroll on our hands.
  3. Thanks Red. I have no doubt the majority of your folks know what it's all about. The class your guys showed on the field comes from the people in the stands. Today was my son's last football game. It didn't turn out the way I'd hoped but to go out with a silver ball that his team earned is good enough for me.
  4. Congratulations to the FCS Commanders. I think your offense played as flawless a game as I've seen. That running back was fast and slippery. I really want to give a shout out to your defense. They played superbly. They bent but the only broke on one play. Stopping us on 4th and short so many times was the difference in the game. That turned what could have been a competitive game into a rout. That's the way to win a championship. Your team deserved it. To those of you who can't resist rubbing our noses in it, enjoy your day. We can be gracious losers. It's a shame that grown people who support a Christian school cannot be gracious winners.
  5. 69 pages of this stuff? Do none of you people have jobs? I hope both teams leave it all on the field Saturday so that the best team wins--not the one who makes the fewest mistakes or gets the lucky bounces or is saved by a bad call by the officials.
  6. "Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall." I seem to recall that being written in a book with which many of these FCS posters might not be familiar.
  7. Great season Dresden. You played hard all the way tonight. 12-1 on 12-1 Cardinals. Let's get it done.
  8. I'll be surprised if this is a high scoring game. If the two defenses play their usual game I'd say it will be 17-14 type of game. A field goal could be the difference and Adamsville has one of the best high school kickers I've ever seen. Hopefully, the Cardinals can pull it off.
  9. Good game Loretto. A good clean, hard hitting game. Very classy at the end when both teams came together at the center of the field. That's what its all about.
  10. Adamsville's depth is just a huge advantage. Their only experienced linebacker (#22) has missed almost the entire season with a shoulder injury, the younger guys stepped up and play ferociously. #13 (preseason all-state safety) injured a knee, several guys stepped up and more than filled his shoes. When #7 (another preseason all-stater) went down, two or three underclassmen came in and the running game never missed a beat. There is a constant stream of receivers, linemen, and DBs shuffling in and out on every play. Adamsville is by far the deepest HS team I've seen. I don't like to predict scores but I'll say this--if the Cardinals continue to play to their potential, avoid stupid penalties and turnovers, it will take a strong team to beat them.
  11. Congratulations to the Cardinals. McKenzie fought hard but Adamsville's depth wore them down in the end. McKenzie's stadium is great, the football atmosphere was great, fans were great, but the guy with the trumpet almost drove me nuts. If he is part of the game plan to drive the other side to distraction it's pretty effective!
  12. Good to see Adamsville remains in 2A again. I knew they would be close to the cut-off point. Edited after I saw TSSAA's page.
  13. If the Cardinals are firing on all cylinders it could be a long night for McKenzie. On the other hand, I'd say McKenzie is capable of pulling off the upset if we take a win for granted. Still, the depth of the Cardinals at virtually every position guarantees fresh legs will just keep going in and should make the difference.
  14. It definitely puts things in perspective when you see a kid lying facedown and not moving. A concussion is serious but much better than what it could have been. We were afraid it was a neck injury and were relieved to see the thumbs-up as they rolled him off the field. He was the third outstanding qb in a row we've faced. While anything is possible, I think it would take a miracle out of scripture for Middleton to pull off an upset here. I just hope for an injury-free game for both teams.
  15. Great game from two great teams. Hopefully, Hardin's qb is okay. Perhaps I'm overreacting but I felt Hardin county's coaching staff showed a decided lack of class before the game when they had their kicker and punter booting balls into the middle of the Cardinals as they warmed up. Maybe they meant it as intimidation but I think it served more as motivation.
  16. No argument there. Based on what I saw last Friday night Akin has a good arm, good legs, and a great brain. He looked at the whole field and threw to the open man, he avoided the rush, and he made good runs when he had to. At this point, I don't think he is as good as Jabriel but give him two years---look out.
  17. Cardinals win 52 to 28. The Cardinal offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage and the running backs put together some good runs. The defense had their hands full but stopped the Lions often enough to prevent a really close game. I don't know if he will be as good as Jabriel was, but TCA's quarterback Akin is gonna be a hoss. I don't look forward to facing him two more times. Good luck to TCA with the rest of the season.
  18. I'm not making any brash predictions about how many points we will score and and how few TCA will get. If TCA wins the game, I will be one of the first to congratulate them and have a helping of crow. But TCA needs to understand they ain't facing Middleton this week. If the Cardinal defense plays up to their standard, it shouldn't be close.
  19. You have to understand that our East Tennessee brethern don't think anything west of Trousdale should be included in the polls. And once you cross into West Tennessee, everything is strictly Pop Warner. That being said, I tend to agree with the idea that that polls aren't the most reliable way of determining who is best. That will be settled in a couple of months.
  20. That's a shame about #18. Maybe he'll make it back by the playoffs.
  21. If the Cardinal offense avoids catastrophic mistakes and the defense keeps swarming and gang tackling, TCA will have to have an exceptional effort to win. Still, they have proven they are capable of putting up big numbers. Should be a great game.
  22. Good job Cardinals. Collinwood's qb was easily the best we've seen this year but a few dropped passes and a fierce Cardinal defense kept him under control. Hated to see Collinwood's number 18 go out with an injury early in the 1st quarter. Hope it turns out to be something minor.
  23. Good job representing the west Dresden and Adamsville. Although I expect our East Tennessean brethren will have something to say about that number two ranking.
  24. Hopefully our field will dry out by Friday. It should be a great game. Hopefully, all the injured Cardinals will be healthy and able to play this week. Woodman, how could there be mud at Collinwood? That field reminds me of the roof of the Superbowl. But the "stadium" is great. Of all the places I've been over the years, I think Collinwood has everyone beat when it comes to the facility.
