  1. Should be a good one Friday. Riverside is pretty good, they've got size and they shoot it well. They're a scary team.
  2. District seems to be young and not as competitive as it was 2-3 years ago. I feel like TCA is the clear favorite to win this district at this point in the season. I was concerned about their slip up against a mediocre USJ team but they've apparently figured it out and have some good wins. Middleton is very young, but well coached and is getting better every game. You can't count them out because of their history. I don't know a lot about Riverside, I knew they were young last season and had a good first half. Adamsville is still going through some growing pains, they've got to learn to bring it every night. They're not a typical scrappy, good shooting Adamsville team. Instead they'll rely on their size. If they can learn to play together and bring the intensity they brought against McNairy every night, I firmly believe they will sneak up on some people. If not, could be another long season for the Cardinals. The bottom of the district appears to be very weak.
  3. Maturity will be the biggest key. Hopefully the two games between Adamsville-TCA will be good ones! Has anyone watched Middleton? Are they down or is their record just a product of a pretty good early season schedule?
  4. Middleton-Bolivar, Middleton-Adamsville, Adamsville-McNairy are a couple good ones in rural West TN.
  5. Class A- Lake County, Union City, Humboldt, TCA, Middleton Class AA- South Side, Liberty, Bolivar, Covington Class AAA- Dyer County Of course this is just rural West TN. I don't know enough about the teams in the Memphis area to fairly speak for them. I would say a Memphis team will more than likely win AAA and probably make a strong push in A though. If I can pick one team that I'm looking for to bounce back, it is Adamsville in Class A. Too good of a program and too good of a coaching staff to stay down. They're coming off the worst season in program history, but a year earlier had Westwood on the ropes in the Region Quarterfinal game late in the 4th. Those kids and coaching staff haven't forgot how to win and have a bitter taste in their mouth from last season. Without football players, which resulted in a lack of depth they are 3-1. This team is young but has a lot of size. They get the football players back this week so hopefully the transition from the football field to the gym goes smoothly. If this group matures quickly, they may surprise a lot of people in 15-A.
  6. I don't know a lot about the teams in Middle or East TN. But in West TN, I look for BTW, Westwood, Middleton, Union City, Humboldt, and Lake County all to be very good. TCA is another very good team and I am anxious to see if they build on last season's success. Adamsville is another very good, traditional West TN program that I expect to bounce back from last season's struggles and possibly be a sleeper in 15-A. They have a very good group of young players. If they mature quickly, they will be dangerous.
  7. Adamsville will be one of the tallest teams in A basketball this year. They'll have 3 starters at 6'5, 6'3, and 6'2.. A freshman who may work his way into the starting lineup is 6'2.
  8. I'm saying Adamsville in this one. The QB looks much more comfortable than he did in Week 2. I would like to see the Cardinals take a few more shots on offense in this game. I look for the Cardinals to strike early in this one and never look back. Adamsville- 21 Riverside-7
  9. I thought the call was questionable as well. I saw the play pretty well myself and I have to say I thought the receiver did have his hands on the defender. But I did not see a whole lot of contact. If I was the official I would not have made the call.. The receiver is 6'5" though. Why would he need to get a push off of anyone at this level?
  10. It was a very sloppy win. I think Bolivar just ran out of gas at the end. Can't afford to have the silly mistakes next week with Riverside.
  11. Man, what a game Friday night. Congrats to Chester County on a tough win and good luck the rest of the way. As for Adamsville, like everyone said we have to get better. Penalties, taking care of the football, and lack of execution got us beat Friday night. As I said though, the lack of experience in the backfield on offense showed Friday night. Everyone I've talked to is a little quick to forget that the two kids getting time at QB haven't really played the position in a varsity game other than in mop-up duty. A few positives, the defense looked pretty good. I thought they made plays all night to keep us in it. I also saw someone step up at running back, Neary looked good. This group will mature every week, they'll get better... Gotta put this one behind us and take out some frustration on Bolivar next week.
  12. This is going to be a good one. Chester County has their season opener at home, alot of excitement around that program with Coach Hodum coming in. There should be a lot of people out for this one. Adamsville fans always do a good job supporting their team. I'm anxious to see this game, Chester County showed quite a bit of speed last week at the jamboree. The Cardinals are big up front on that d-line. This one is going to be fun... It's hard to make a prediction. This game could easily turn into a shootout, but something tells me that both offenses may start a little slow. First game under the lights for those Cardinal QBs, so it will interesting to see how they react in a big time atmosphere. Hopefully we'll see a clear RB emerge as well for the Cardinals. I think the Cardinals inexperience at skill positions on the offensive side of the ball will hurt them tommorow. I'm looking for the Cardinals to mature weekly, but based on what I've seen so far I have to go with Chester County in this one. Those guys are riding alot of momentum and energy into this one and I believe they'll win a close one tommorow night.
  13. It was hard to accurately get a good read on either team last night. Both teams appeared not to be showing much. I only recall one time that JCS threw in Bowles direction and he was overthrown. I'm not drinking any of the Adamsville kool-aid yet. Although they did show some signs of a good team last night, I can't take any stock in a jamboree. Chester County is going to be a real test for the Cardinals right out of the gate. Of all the teams that played last night, they were the most impressive.
  14. Drae Bowles is the player you speak of. Rivals has him rated as the number 2 overall prospect in the state. He is committed to Tennessee. Should be a test for the Cardinal secondary.
  15. Someone called this year's Adamsville team, the best to come through in 20 years. I'm not sure if this team stacks up with the 2009 team because of the very experienced defense that team returned. But, the missing piece of that team was at the quarterback position. In my opinion, the biggest question mark on this group is at quarterback. Who will emerge to lead the offense? Can they handle the pressure?.. Both kids are talented no doubt, one is a great athlete and the other seems to be a solid QB and a good decision maker. Neither has had a lot of big game experience under center and it will be interesting to watch them progress as this season goes along. The good news is they'll be in good hands with a big, experienced line in front of them and good recievers to throw to... My second question is who will emerge at running back? I was close to making this the biggest question, but I hear the Cardinals will be throwing the football more this season. Not a whole lot of experience at this postion and I wonder who will fill the shoes at this position... Could be a really good season for this team if someone emerges at these positions. I say the Cardinals start off slowly but start to click at the end of the season, when it really matters.
  16. Adamsville 10 Middleton 0
  17. Adamsville swept South Gibson last week. Adamsville 14, Middleton 1 (Today) Any word on where the tournament should be and how seeding should look?
  18. Cold: Adamsville, coming off a state tournament run has came out cold to open up the season. This team is struggling to put up runs and just hasn't caught any breaks early on. It will be interesting to see how they respond to the slow start. Hot: McNairy Central has had a good start to their season. They may be a team to watch in 2A.
  19. From Tuesday. Adamsville 9 TCA 7
  20. Sounds like Riverside is the top dog in 15-A again. How did Adamsville look? I know they are coming off of a state tournament run last year.
  21. Adamsville had a tough lost last week. It'll be interesting to see how they bounce back. If Adamsville wants a shot they need the offense to move the ball this week and eat some clock away. The defense has been on the field entirely too long in the last 2 games.. Its early and its not time to hit the panic buttons yet, but with a loss to Riverside, that game with Trinity becomes huge.. I'm not looking for much offense actually. Just good smashmouth football. I've never picked against Adamsville on this board and its hard to. But I have seen Riverside this year and they are much better than Kossuth and much improved since last year. Unless the offense makes great strides this week I'll go... Riverside 21 Adamsville 14
  22. Adamsville loses 3 seniors. They lose the DH, who was the starting catcher at the beginning of the year and started since he was in 8th grade, the CF/Leadoff hitter, and a corner infielder who played 3rd base most of the State Tournament. They will need to replace their leadership the most. The pitching staff will be much better next year as all their pitchers got another year of experience. The talent is in place and the kids are hungry. If they can come together next year like the end of this season it is scary to think of what they can do.
  23. All the people I was around on the Adamsville side all waited for the change after the back to back walks. I was not knocking the pitcher who came in relief, I'm not even going to say whether or not he could have changed the fate of that game. I was just very curious about that decision. Congrats to Greenfield on a great season, from all I hear we may meet again next year in a similar situation.
  24. Congrats to Adamsville. They've earned this trip to Murfreesboro. They were overlooked coming into the sub-state game. They've got a great chance to make a run for a ring if the bats stay hot. As for the game, I didn't quite understand the Greenfield coaching staff's decision to leave the pitcher in as long as they did. Did they not have anymore pitching or is the kid supposed to be Superman and supposed to have been able to gotten through the 7th?
  25. I'm going to guess and say this is not a kid from Adamsville. They have nothing but respect for Riverside and Stephen Gant. On the subject I'd say that his stuff is in the 87-91 range.
