  1. Tough match up for the Bobcats. Brainerd will be faster. Playing in the Brickyard will make it a closer game. If our offensive and defensive line can control the line of scrimmage (you listening Big Joe?), we should pull out a close one.
  2. Here is my preseason forcast for the Bobcats: They only lost two players from last year's state tournament team: Lavar and Darius. Lavar was very good and will be missed. Darius was a spot player and his role will be easily filled. Returners that started or played significantly: 1. Kadijohn (sp?) Townsend (Sr.) - Three year starter. Very athletic. Can jump out of the gym. Plays with passion. TEAM player. Only weakness is that he doesn't look to score enough IMO. 2. Lake Jones (Sr.) - Three year starter/contributer. Looks like a point guard but shoots like a shooting guard. A LOT quicker and athletic than he looks. Smart player. Clutch moments are not too big for him. Only weakness is that he is a little weak in man to man defense against good players (see Spring Hill last year). 3. Chris Bledsoe (Sr.) - Three year starter/contributer. Very smart. Good floor leader. Team player. Looks to distrubute the ball. Weaknesses: not a great athlete. Can't create his own shot. Can't defend athletic players man to man. 4. Austin (can't think of his last name) - Two year starter (just a junior). Good height. Good ball skills. Good shooter. Smooth player. Plays on elite AAU teams. Weakness: doesn't look to score enough IMO. 5. Tori Hartison (Sr.) - Two year starter (only moved back last year). Good height. Long arms. Great leaper. Gets lots of rebounds offensivley and defensivley. Scrapy player. Weakness: doesn't always play within the offense. 6. Al Cobb (Jr.) - Two year starter/contributer. Good height. Great hussle. Looks to score. Weakness: plays out of control at times. Still in football season. 7. Orlando Holt (Sr.) - Little playing time thus far. Good height. Great athlete. Weakness: hasn't shown he can be counted on. NEW TO TEAM 1. Blake Jimenez (Sr.) - Just moved back this year. Great athlete. Will help on offense and defense. Weakness: inexperience. 2. Cameron Ford (Sr.) - Recovering from knee injury last football season. Good athlete. Competes for rebounds. Weakness: inexperience. PREDICTION That is almost 10 deep. Even with foul trouble should dominate region competition. Spring Hill will be only test (did their coach leave?). Should go at least deep in region play probably to STATE again. Team weakness would be lack of true post player, but strength in numbers should overcome that.
  3. giles county won the district lifting competition on tuesday. they smaller guys are pretty strong but the bigger guys are not. lewis county had the strongest big guys. they had two guys that were really strong.
  4. giles did get a big win. lburg's 21-11 loss to columbia is not too bad. columbia always has superior talent. they put it on us just a few years ago. lburg might have more speed and athletism than giles this year! they have a real good player whos name i cant remember right now.. trent garland maybe. he picked off wallace twice last year. he is a great all around athlete as he stars at football and basketball too. there are also a couple players that have gone to gchs before: montrell prince and dj mason. they are both talented athletes. i say lburg will not be out athleted this year and if their line is as big as in the past... the wildcats could get the cowbell back. be interesting to see how a young giles team responds after a win and how they play on the road.
  5. its a different team this year. i dont think anyone should be talking state championship but a win over cookeville is a nice accomplishment. i thought al cobb looked good at qb considering the circumstances. to account for 3 tds in your 1st start is impressive. he scrambled better than i knew he could. of course he cant keep throwing the ball to the other team. i also thought myles looks like a player. they need to keep giving him the ball. defensively they look similar to last year. they play good at times and not at others. i thought cookeville showed a lot of heart in the second half. i dont know if i have ever seen a field goal returned for a td... heads up play. #21 was a good back. he probably should have had more carries.
  6. Bo signed with Arkansas State. Most would agree that Arkansas State got a steal. Josh Brewer, Joey Dienye, and Brad Strickland are NAIA eligible and signed with Bethel. Terrell Boykins and Tobias Houston are not yet NAIA eligible but have signed with Bethel. They both have work to do to be eligible. Tobias has to get his ACT up two more points. Terrell has a little more work to do to be eligible. Zach Bailey was offered by Bethel, but will likely play baseball somewhere else. Josh Smith has been offered by Cumberland. He is still deciding what to do. Josh Norwood took a visit with Brad to Lambuth. Not sure on his status.
  7. what is the name of that sasquatch-monster olineman from cheatam co.... surely he made it
  8. what i hear on liberty is lots of speed. athletes at every postion on offense on defense. several backs on offense that get their hands on it and take it to the house. a swarming defense that is too fast to break one on. can my people from liberty or played liberty confirm, deny, or elaborate on this please?
  9. #4 for lexington, jones?, was a very good player. big, strong looking player. good on defense. good runner on offense. didn't see him pass enough to know about that. is he getting recruited? i think our qb is better, but i am biased and he throws a lot more and has to play less defense.
  10. apparently lexingtion has an abundance of big backs to throw at the bobcats. the coaches are saying lexington is the most physical running team they have seen this year.
  11. i agree with others that page has the better defense and spring hill has the better offense. i think the match up between the page offense and the spring hill defense will actually determine the winner. page is well coached and will be prepared but spring hill has good athletes that run to the ball on defense. kicking game could prove to be the difference too. i really think they are evenly matched teams. the one that comes out on top in the turnover margin will likely win. my gut says go with spring hill because of homefield and the abundance of seniors.
  12. to mike (the bo hater), you are most likely correct when saying that bo is not going to end up at an sec school next year (rude in how you say, but it correct). however, to say that he should not win mr. football in class 4a proves that you are just a hater and not someone giving an unbiased opinion. he is a three starter, going to have ~30 wins as a starter, going to have taken them to the playoffs every year, put impressive numbers, and looks the part at ~6'4 195. not saying he should win, but to say that he shouldn't be one of the candidates is foolish.
  13. if you really want to know about giles offense i was just saying on the hickman thread how the giles pass game has been potent this year. of course wallace can throw it but i think the major difference is the receivers this year. when wallace was a soph. he had good passing numbers because of the big play ability of rico brown, andre mcelory, and josh perez. last year the passing numbers went down because all the explosive players were gone. hunter newton and tyler watson were good possesion receivers but not very dangerous. this year zach bailey has brought the big play ability back to the pass offense. also, using josh smith and tobias houston more in the passing game has made defense defend the entire field. those two guys can score wherever they catch the ball on the field. now, watson cannot be double covered leaving him to make more big plays like he did against page.
  14. creekwood is due a good year. they are okay every year but have not been dominant. they were real tough about 4 years ago. it looks they have hit another cycle of good players in dickson county
