Harpeth Honorable Mention: White House Too bad these teams will never have a shot at a state championship thanks to the private school monopoly in the A-AA state tournament. How is it fair again for a school with a 50-mile radius to compete against a school with a 15-mile radius, scholarship or not??? How's this for a stat? If you take every current girls soccer team in A-AA, ONLY ONE SINGLE SCHOOL has ever won a game in the state tournament that wasn't a private school or a magnet school. Does that bring it home for you? Chuckey-Doak did it on October 26, 2005 when they faced another public school (unranked McNairy Central) in the state quarterfinals, thus a public school had to advance to the semifinals from that matchup. Then Chuckey-Doak was promptly stomped by FRA 5-0.
  2. As the 24th annual TSSAA girls soccer playoffs begin, it would seem that 7 of 8 spots in the state tournament are a lock for Class A-AA. But who do you think will be the 8th team? Locks: East Tennessee: #1 CAK and #4 Greeneville Chattanooga: #3 Notre Dame and #5 CCS Middle Tennessee: #2 CPA and ??? West Tennessee: #9 Madison Magnet and unranked Dyersburg So which team qualifies from Middle Tennessee other than CPA? There are a number of very good teams in contention for that final spot in Chattanooga. I predict a fierce battle as at least 8 schools with very talented teams battle it out, 7 of those going home and 1 going to the big dance. The candidates are as follows: #6 Page #7 David Lipscomb #8 Goodpasture #11 Giles County Harpeth Fairview Spring Hill Columbia Academy Who are you picking?
  3. CAK has a very challenging schedule, and has DEFINITELY proven themselves! My comment regarding their schedule is sarcasm and pertains to how petty some of these posts can be. If one wants to pick out random scores between Page and their weak district opponents that they are mandated to play, why don't we question why CAK didn't schedule Notre Dame, CCS, or CPA to prove themselves in A-AA? The answer is simple. Both are ludicrous. Let these teams prove themselves in Regionals, Sectionals, and State. Don't whine about the regular season and various comparisons.
  4. In checking Eurosport this morning, I see the following: #1 CAK didn't schedule a single ranked team in A-AA (the only Top 11 team guilty of this). Page scheduled 2 ranked teams (although Hume-Fogg and Giles have mysteriously disappeared from the Top 11, a decision with which I disagree). #3 CPA scheduled non-district pansies Friendship Christian, Whites Creek, Nashville Christian, and LaVergne and slaughtered all 4 teams. Why schedule them? #5 Greeneville defeated Cumberland Gap 18-0, To-Be-Announced 12-0, Cosby 11-0, and Cordova and Chuckey-Doak 10-0. 18-0? Now THAT'S running up the score!!! I guess someone better start negative threads against all three of those teams! CHAMPDDS, would you like to do the honors with all that free time you have? Note: Page only loses 1 starter after this season. Watch out in 2010!
