  1. Coach pulled the QB's helmet off by grabbing the facemask and said some choice words to Michael that was not aloud on the radio. We had already left the game, and did not get to see what actually happened. If someone was there could you share with us what actually happened!
  2. From watching the effort of the boys on Friday I see this game close until halftime. Then Green Wave pulls away with a score of 42 - 14 with Springfield scoring in the 4th Quarter. Just see this being a tough year for the Jackets. Hope 102.5 does not mention our coach again on the radio show in a negative manner. Congrats to Greenbrier, and these next 4 games will be big losses in my opinion. After the midway turn the Jackets may win 2 games. Sorry guys, but we are in rebuilding process!
  3. Good luck to our Jackets this year, but feel this may be a tough season for the Jacket faithful. With Henry County, Northeast, Dickson County, Clarksville High, and Kenwood all bringing back tough teams we may have a subpar year. Watched our first scrimmage and not too positive, but a scrimmage is a scrimmage. The boys seem to have no fire, and with Greenbrier in the near future we may be scratching our heads after many games wondering what ifs. We just need to be patient with Coach Wilson and hope he is the answer, but this year will not be as memorable as we thought it would be after last season. I see us beating Northwest and possible West Creek, but sure losses are Henry County, Northeast, Dickson County, Gallatin, and Clarksville High. Don't feel confident about Greenbrier, Rossview, or Kenwood. A good season this year may be 3 - 7 or 4 - 6 if we are lucky. This does not reflect our new coaching staff, but it will reflect the positive direction on discipline this team has lacked in the last decade. I just don't see a good year!
  4. Personally we do not care if they line up in double tight smoke stack or power I. We just hope the boys are disciplined and ready to produce on the field. The wing t can be fun to watch if ran correctly. How is practice looking? No one is saying much, but sure hope that Coach Wilson and his staff are molding a good team. Saw that Darden the Basketball Coach is leaving too. So maybe it is the Administrations way of cleaning house and rebuilding tradition at Springfield. I say give coach a chance to prove himself in a very tough region.
  5. What will coach's coaching staff look like? As I understand coaches Southerland, Myers, Fite, Carneal, and maybe Clemons are all attending other schools. How will this affect our program? All these coaches were very good with our young men, and we wish them all the best. Just do not know how Coach Wilson will create a staff this late in school year that will motivate these young men. Word is that there is a lot of issues with the team and coaches in charge. Is it true that Brandon Farmer may be headed to White House and that Terrence Summers may be headed to a private school? Just rumors but wondering if any truth in these rumors! What offense will Coach Wilson run, Defense will he bring to our program, and what emphasis will he focus on the special teams? Good luck, from what I see in the news paper Coach Wilson may not have a life outside of school and football. Good luck and you have our support coach!
  6. How can Dustin Wilson be the next head coach with no teaching experience at the high school level? The paper said Dr. Grimes wants a teacher, and someone that will put in extra time coaching and teaching. Someone to keep discipline and try to rebuild the program. I think we fired that guy a month ago! This region will be tough on any new coach this up coming season. With home games against Gallatin, Northeast, and Henry Co. will be tough. Then the new man travels to Greenbrier, Dickson Co., Kenwood, and Clarksville High. This season could be a tough one for our Jackets! When will we know about the new head coach?
  7. Talking to some of the boys at the fundraiser on Saturday, and heard some interesting news. Word is that Coaches Southerland and former Jackets Coach Inman have applied and will interview this week. Does anyone know who all is interviewing, and if Southerland is going to interview? When I talked to Coach he said he is moving back home. We would sure love to have him if the rumor is true. Are there any other coaches that will be interviewing this week?
  8. Coach told me today that he is considering, and don't know if he has applied. If he does we will be excited to have him!
  9. Good news for the Yellow Jacket Nation! Dropped off the grandson today at Westside, and had a talk with Coach Southerland about the Coaching position. He has considered applying for the job, but worries this has all happened before at another school and does not want to get his hopes up. Well I am one to say, "I support you Coach!" You should apply to just see if you have an opportunity. This community will be happy to have you as our head coach. I will stop by and see how things are going with Coach Southerland on Monday to see how things are progressing. Good luck, and I do wish Coach Myers the best in his future. He is a good man, and he will be greatly missed!
  10. Redwarrior I see a 7-3 or an 8-2 year. Round 2 or 3 in the playoffs. However, as I watched the 5A state title, 3 big plays can make the difference between State Champs or Runner Ups! The plays I think were key to the game were electing to not kick the first field goal, Powell's hold on Mobley's TD that was negated, and the biggest play of the game to kick for the win. When you have athletes you can surpise anyone. I wish Coach Southerland the best. My grandson thinks the world of this man. Any man that can teach elementary school, know all the students names, and always greats everyone is a great man. Plus he is a heck of a coach that is going to be missed here at Springfield. I confirmed what I feared, after talking to coach he let me know that it is time to move back to Clarksville. He is looking to interview at Clarksville Academy and an elementary school in Clarksville. I did not know that we will also miss Coaches Porter, Carneal, and maybe 1 more! Who are we looking to replace these great young men, and how is the team looking?
  11. Was talking to a few buddies and discovered that Coach Carnell, Coach Porter, and Coach Southerland are not coming back next season with our Yellow Jackets. Will drop by tomorrow to talk to Coach Southerland, but heard he interviewed at West Creek a week ago and Clarksville Academy. Word is that he is going to try to teach and coach at one of these schools in Clarksville. Coach Porter from what I have understood is moving to Clarksville, and Coach Carnell is focusing on his teaching position and coaching wrestling. These are three good coaches that are leaving, so how will the Yellow Jackets look in the fall. Also heard Coach Fite is possibly going to transfer to Hillsboro, and if anyone knows please fill us in. Last is Coach Campbell! Word around the school is that he is going into administration. So what coaches are coming in to fill these gentlemen's spots on our staff. I believe we are loaded with seniors, but how will the team take the absence of these great individuals on our staff? Good luck to Porter and Southerland, and if coach reads this we will stop by tomorrow and drop off the grandson to talk with you.
  12. From what I understand, Coach Southerland plans to remain a Yellow Jacket. This is good news to our community, but do not understand why Clarksville does not want a good teacher who can coach to work in their system. I personally want to say thank you to the administration that did not call this young man back to let him know they would not interview him. From what Coach said to me and my daughter today, the team will do all the talking on the field, and if he was not worthy enough to get a message that he would not interview then he would use this to coach even harder preparing the 2012 Yellow Jackets for a special season. Once again I am thankful to Montgomery County for not offering our coach an opportunity and it is our gain. While others are trying to find coaches to fill a roster, the Jackets can rest tonight knowing we will retain a good one. Good seeing coach laugh again today!
  13. We in Springfield are happy to see that Montgomery County has no interest in their home town boys Myers and Southerland. Talked to Coach today, and he told us that he has not even been called back for any of the positions. The Larry's crew are glad they have not called back, because we keep a good coach that travels from Clarksville daily. In the words of Coach Southerland, "Just fuel to prove they are wrong!" We are glad to keep him in Springfield not only as a coach, but my grandson thinks the world of him as a teacher.
  14. From talking to him today he is still coaching here in Springfield, and has yet to receive a call from the Clarksville schools. Their loss and our gain! Springfield is very excited that Montgomery County has no interest in our Coach, and we hope this will continue for years to come.
  15. Kevin38, sorry to hear that. From what I have observed, Montgomery County should open their arms for good coaches. However, they seem to let them go and hire people that stay 2 years and leave the county looking again. Something does not seem right with the way that county hires a head coach!
  16. Congrats to Kenwood and their new hire! Maybe we will be keeping Southerland in town. Not sure if he has applied for the other schools, but we are sure glad he is with us for now. May have to stop in and talk to coach to see what his intentions are on the up coming season. What classification is Montgomery Central in, and what is the deal with West Creek? From my understanding this is their third head coach in 4 years. Why does Montgomery County keep turning over head coaches?
  17. Sitting at Larry's eating yesterday us old folk were discussing the coaching in Clarksville. First question we could not answer was: Why do they lose so many coaches every year? Another question we could not answer: How could they let go of coaches like Myers and Southerland? You would think that a county of that size would retain good coaches, but from what a few of us have discovered is they lose good men that find success in other counties. Plus we heard that Coach John Offutt is considering moving on. How crazy is it that Montgomery County has 3 current openings, and may have 1 more in the near future. Seems to me that Montgomery County is a quick stop for many coaches, or that County does not like good men to run their programs. We also discovered that Coach Southerland has shown interest in the Kenwood position. All the guys at Larry support you Coach Southerland, and if you receive the position understand that we will cheer for you all but one game a year. The one that Springfield wins! If you read this post Me and Robertson plan to stop by and chat with you soon. If Coach is interested and Montgomery County passes him up it is their loss. From what I have seen these past 3 years is a nice man that loves the community and seems to always give 100% to the program without a negative word even when we face a tough loss. Coach Southerland seems to always find a positive in every situation. If he leaves he will be greatly missed, but the Larry's crew will be happy to see him find his opportunity to build a tradition at Kenwood.
  18. How about Coach Fite and Coach Southerland from Springfield? Fite is an outstanding young man that seems to enjoy and know what he is doing. I just think Southerland is a good man that cares for his players, and watching him coach on Friday nights is a treat. Can you say ADHD with that Dr. Pepper in his hands at all times on the sidelines. First time I saw him with one I laughed, but it is something he drinks on the sidelines every game. Plus talking to these men they know what they are talking about! I see both of these men becoming head coaches in the near future if someone will give them a chance to prove they are worthy coaches.
  19. I totally agree that Coach Southerland would be a good addition to any staff, and I do wish him the best. I have stopped by his elementary school several times in the past few years to talk football, and each time he takes time out of his day to enjoy conversation. Plus he makes it a point to stop and talk to me and my family after every home game. Don't really understand why he has never been a head coach before, but if Clarksville does not want him we will surly be happy to keep him on our staff. From what I have seen he is good with the athletes, coaches, fans, and seems to always be working on the sidelines on game night. Good luck Coach Southerland if you choose to apply for any of these positions.
  20. I know Coach Myers and Coach Southerland here at Springfield live in the Clarksville community. Why have these men not been given an opportunity to coach in that county seeing what they have done here at Springfield? I hope that we don't loose either of these men, but does anyone think one or both will interview for one of these positions? I hope not, because we look to have a special year with all our players returning next year. However, living in that community you would think they would be looked at for these schools.
  21. Clarksville will go in as the 6 seed due to the tie breaker with Springfield making my Jackets the 5 seed. Visiting team vs Home team Station Camp plays Antioch Glencliff plays Gallatin Clarksville plays Hendersonville Springfield plays Beech
  22. Last time a cougar team came to Springfield was Homecoming 2 years ago, and they spoiled the fun. I hope this week the boys are listening and play more football than back yard ball. Last week was not a good evening to be a Jacket fan due to the way our team played. If we can show up and play sound football we can play with any team on our schedule. Not sure what Dickson is bringing to town, but if I remember right it will be alot of pounding the football. This scares me due to the fact we are not tackling well this year. I look for a close game with the Jackets winning on a big play! Big question is who is going to be the QB this week?
  23. A coach should never throw in the towel, and the onsides kick was a great call. Good practice for both teams for the future. Plus why was Springfield not allowed to do the Dallas Shift like we have done for years?
  24. Hands down the best Henry County football team I have ever seen. Plus I was impressed with the Patriot fans. Very respectful and you can see their coach has a great grip on that team. See special things in the near future from Henry County. We got an old fashion tail kicking tonight!
  25. Good luck tonight to both teams! I hope the Jackets prove themselves tonight a worthy opponent. Reading on here by many Patriot post we should not even show up to the game. However, last I checked the game is played for 48 minutes before you can say a score. Granted this is a much improved Patriot team, but from what I saw from Beech last night on TV, I still believe that the Jackets have played higher quality teams up to this point. May be the difference in the outcome of tonights contest!
