  1. Parking is going to be tough! If I were the Patriot fans I would ride buses to the field. Finally the city will see that we need our own stadium at the school. If I were the Patriot fans I would get to the game early.
  2. How will the rain affect each team tonight? The last time I watched these two play in the rain the Jackets won 9 - 7 in a mud bath. How bad has it rained in Clarksville last night and today, because it has been going all morning. If it is muddy, will the Jackets be able to move the ball against a good Wildcat defense? I also read that it is Clarksville Home Coming Game tonight. What time will the game actually start? 7 or 7:30! Good Luck Jackets, and a win tonight will pack the house next week!
  3. The jackets gave this old man a scare friday night. We were ready to call the mob from the fair to escort those gentlemen calling the game. However, we finished on top in the end wining the game. Heard we have a few injuried players, and that Clarksville seems to have some out also. Any truth to these runors? Getting excited, and what will be the best way for me and the old lady to get to the school, and with homecoming what time will game begin?
  4. Good Luck tonight Jackets! Better get to the field early for good parking!
  5. Good point, but barely winning and winning big still equal a win on the schedule. Plus that was last year, and this is a new year. I see a great game, but a win is a win! Heck, I will take a one point win any day even though a 20 point victory feels better, but a win is a win!!!!
  6. Week 0 showed that this is a different Springfield team! Both sides of the ball were greatly improved, and the special teams made a huge difference in the game against Greenbrier. From what I hear, Northeast is very big and fast! I read in the tennessean that the Eagles beat up Sycamore, but there was no information on the Pearl Cohn game. Word is that Northeast has 6 or 7 D-1 athletes. This will be a great test to see how the boys have baught into Coach Myers and his coaching staff. Good luck Jackets, and I like our new website at leaguelineup.com/gojackets. A buddy of mine showed me it today, and it is good to see Coach Myers has not only changed the way we play, but gives the fans something to look at to check up on the team. Jackets win 34 - Northeast 26!!!
  7. Springfield played last night vs Mcgavock and won 28 - 14. How did the other teams in our region fair tonight?
  8. Springfield 3 scores to FRA 0 FRA ran the option well, and played hard all evening. Springfield scored on two big plays and intercepted the ball and took to the 1 foot line. The CPA scrimmage helped the jackets prepare for this one. FRA has two good looking LBs and a stud at nose guard. Springfield 21 to CPA 17 Not sure if CPA is D-II A, but they are pretty good passing that ball. Was impressed with their defense and offensive passing game.
  9. What time will the scrimmage begin? I hope the boys play better than the other night. Seemed that there were early mistakes, but when the boys settled down it turned out to be a very good scrimmage with big hits. I cannot remember when Springfield scrimmaged two private schools, and this will only benefit our program in the season. I just hope the stadium is filled as it was Friday night. Good luck Jackets! See you tonight.
  10. Read in paper that Northwest tied Stewart County 2 - 2 and also scrimmaged Greenbrier and Bobcats 3 to Northwest 3-2. Great to hear about Dickson, they must be tough. Kenwood scrimmaged Hillwood, has anyone heard how they did? Henry County Tied Mylan I think 2-2 or 3-3.
  11. JPII scored 3 on the varsity to 2 on the varsity by Springfield. JPII scored 2 on the JV to 0 on the JV of Springfield. From what I saw, JPII was a very sound team. The QB's were very good, running back was fast, and the line was tough. JPII scored on a 40 yard run, 70 yard touchdown pass, 45 yard run on their varsity. Springfield scored on a 12 yard pass and a 40 yard pass. The JPII JV ran a 23 yard run and a 30 yard pass I think. All in all it was a good scrimmage with great hits on both sides. You would think it was the most important game of the year to both teams. There was not a play that you could not hear the tackle from the top row of the bleachers. Good luck to JPII, and thank you for your sportsmanship and nice crowd.
  12. How did everyones first scrimmage go? JPII beat Springfield 5 scores to 3 scores. What about all of you!
  13. What time is the scrimmage tomorrow?
  14. It is great to see our season about to begin Friday! What time will the scrimmage start? How does the team look at this point in camp?
  15. Go Jackets! What time is our scrimmage Friday? Does the team have anymore 3XL pride shirts for sale?
  16. This is not just a scrimmage, but a chance to see how our Yellow Jackets compare to last year. After looking at the preseason schedule, scrimmage or not, bragging rights will be nice to have a scrimmage victory over a private school that has had great names such as Golden and Wesley Tate. The coaches went and got a good team, and beating a private school, like JPII, in a scrimmage could mean alot in November. We are excited that JPII is coming to our house controlled scrimmage or not. This is a great opportunity to evaluate our program after a long off season! Go Jackets! What time does this scrimmage begin?
  17. I met Coach Southerland at my grandson's Field Day yesterday. It is impressive that a man his age works so well with the elementary students. He had 2 former players there helping him, Sharkley and Ford, and both are headed to college in July. Congratulations boys, and represent our program well! Coach Southerland gave me a Facebook page that was created for the team Springfield-Football Yellow-Jackets. Coach Myers updates the team's events and happenings on this website. Check it out! As for the team, Coach Southerland told me about a Strenght Challenge in June, and 7 on 7's in July, and our first scrimmage vs John Paul II July 30th at Boyce Smith Field. The one thing that was surprising to me was Coach Southerland told me we are light years from being good. He said that we are not their as of yet, but if the boys continue to buy in to Coach Myers we may just compete for the region. When I asked about State, all he said was we are worried about the Region and the rest will fall into place. Two new coaches on staff are Coach Fite and a gentleman named Coach Young. From what I am hearing the staff has a great work and play relationship. Good to see good men working with our boys. I am getting excited for some Jacket Football!
  18. I could not make the scrimmage tonight. How did it go, and how did the team look?
  19. I talked to a school board member today, and these are the names he gave me: Coach Clemons - former Springfield standout who played at Cumberland then coached at Lebonon (DB's), Coach Bigsbee - former Springfield standout who played at Lane College (WR's), Coach Campbell - a former head coach (QB's, Offense), Coach Porter - SRO (RB's/DL), Coach Fish - coached at Hillsboro (Kickers), and word is two more gentlemen may join staff in June. From what I am hearing they all get along, and Alvin Fite, Southerland, and Clemons are playfull, however, seem to bring a new attitude to the defense. I just hope we will stop the run this year! Can anyone shed some light on the progression of the offense this spring?
  20. I really like what I see, and many of the guys at Larry's are excited about the team. We will be there on Friday. Go Jackets!
  21. I finally watched some of the team practice today, and was very impressed. Alot of hard hits, and this group looks fast. When is the spring game, and who are the Jackets playing? I did not talk to the team, but who are the two coaches that seem fired up from beginning to end of practice? I did not see one of them last year, and saw a few new faces on the team!
  22. Will this event be open for the public to come watch coach?
  23. From what I saw at games vs them boys, that team is a gold mine. Big community support, good feeder program, and lots to work with. However, I just hope my Yellow Jacket compete with them this year for the region, or just make it a closer game than the last one played in the playoffs. Plus the Patriots and fans come to Boyce Field this year. I hope we can rain on the new head coaches parade. Good luck on hiring the new man to run that gold mine of a program.
