I did not realize AAU was already having tryouts, and my son is interested in playing some AAU ball this spring. age 10, played 2 years in the Fountain City rec league, wants to step it up.. PM me if you have available room, or know of a coach who may. thanks

Yes to Lester Wilson at Carter (and yes he is going to ETSU). Phillip Stanford Knoxville West Rico White and Ty Greene both of Knoxville Bearden Morrease Barber of Gatlinburg-Pittman. Those are some off the top of my head that I have covered in the past year. I know there are some too in Upper East Tennessee. Cleveland High School has some awesome players, their PG (#11) is pretty darn good. They stacked up very good against Knoxville West. If Girls interests you, Marjorie Butler of Webb School of Knoxville is a Junior who has already committed to UGA. I've not seen her play since last year, but hear she's a monster.

I'm tempted to go check it out. I'm covering Marshall County Hoopfest w/ one other person...depending on when I get up to Benton I may come back and shoot all three games. Looks very tasty and 2 of the 3 games are listed on unapproved website as games of the week. Oak Hill and Melrose will both be at Marshall County on saturday too...but watching them play each other would be a REAL treat. Almost as good as when Oak hill comes to Knoxville to play Bearden..

stupid question, is kick-off still at 7pm or has the holiday allowed the game to be moved up to an earlier timeslot? Thanks

It's not just your part of the state, they've slid of late on the East side too. I saw some questionable stuff tonight (although it would not have affected the outcome), but then I saw some stuff in the FUlton v Carter boys district game the other day that well, the 5 point margin of victory came from two questionable Technicals, well one was legit, not sure where the 2nd T came from. That though DID impact the outcome of that particular game. But i've been noticing it the past few weeks and it seems to have started in late Jan.

Well, I will commend the players (both sides) in that consolation game. #32 for GP did everything he could to keep things going, ( I was one of the photographers on the sideline last night). I'd also like to commend the boys from AE for holding back (and yes they held back alot). They could have very easy steamrolled GP out of that gym by 60 or 70 points, but they let a lot of uncontested shots go by, and was very light on the defense last night, very classy in a bad situation (IMHO).

nah, all but two of the starters at GP were busted doing something they should not have been doing; they were under suspension.

Braylen Bennett from Carter (Knoxville), that said Carter is only losing 1 senior, I look to them to be pretty tough next year.
