  1. I have been out of pocket since Friday night and not had a chance to respond. First of all congratulations to Gordonsville on the win. Good luck this Friday night against South Pitt. I would like to address the issues raised by FNL in this post. Concerning the late hits both teams participated in them and both got away with them, so that is a wash. The referees who administered this game done their job poorly and never established control. They let a lot of "chipiness" go on from both sides. I witnessed some verbal warnings given, however what good are they if you are not going to follow up with flags? The game was officiated poorly. It did not have any bearing on the outcome. One would expect better officiating in a quarter final playoff game. I was sitting not far from the fan who was escorted out by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department. I only saw one, not two that was mentioned. He deserved it and should have been escorted out earlier in the evening. He has been yelling at refs, players, and fans all year. He was warned by the cops and also told by several Eagleville fans to be quiet. I have been sitting in that area of the bleachers for the past several years. The only time I have ever heard any abusive language directed at the staff or fans of an opposing team was a few years ago against Jo Byrns when they executed an on side kick ahead by thirty with less than two minutes left in the game. The opposing teams coaching staff walks up that side to enter the pressbox. I did not see or hear anyone directing abusive language at anyone affiliated with the Gordonsville coaching staff Friday night. I did witness two young ladies from Gordonsville ask a fan from Eagleville to move from a location he has been standing/sitting all year long in order for them to film the game from the deck that enters the pressbox. Apparently he was unwilling to move and the next thing I knew an officer is up there standing on the deck with the young ladies. A couple of things come to mind at this point. If one wants to film the game either go in the pressbox with the Gordonsville staff and film till your heart is content. Climb on top of the pressbox, as some from Gordonsville did the other night, and film from that vantage point. Another option would have been to stay on the visitors side and film for there. I think it is a bit much to come to the home side of the stadium and ask people to move, expect them to move, and then get upset when they do not comply with your demands. Just my opinion. This issue could have handled in a more constructive manner from both sides. Again congrats to Gordonsville and good luck the rest of the year. Congrats to Eagleville on a great season. I do not know if many people from home would have believed an 11-1 season and a third round playoff appearance were possible this year. Way to go Eagles!!!!!!!
  2. Thanks for your prediction Ambassador. I have been amused by some of your predictions this year. How many games have you seen Eagleville play? Gordonsville may mercy rule Eagleville and they may not, who knows. Do you give stock tips?
  3. Wolverine. Gordonsville will not be coming to Eagleville as underdogs. I have lived in this area my whole life, 45+ years, and can never remember Gordonsville having a bad team. You all have established the type of tradition I hope Eagleville is in the process of developing. Good luck to both teams. I am looking forward to seeing some good football next Friday. Be safe and God Bless!!!
  4. If Eagleville doesn't protect the ball any better next Friday than they did tonight it will be a three score, and possibly more, difference. The first half was very shaky, however they played much better in the second half. The folks down here can be very hospitable. Have a safe trip!!!!!!!
  5. The regal sense of entitlement and cockiness that you speak of regarding Gordonsville football makes me sick. Ever hear of humility? I will give you Gordonsville has a lot of tradition and a storied past, however I am sure they are proud to have you as one of their spokesmen. You mentioned Eagleville's schedule. Bad teams do not go 10 - 0. Looking after the first three weeks of Gordonsville's schedule they have not exactly lined up against the cream of the crop either. You mentioned Gordonsville would mercy rule the whole quad. Put your money where mouth is Slim. I will take Eagleville and the 35. You agree to donate 10 bucks a point, the difference between the 35 and the actual margin of victory, to my favorite mission or charity if GHS does not cover the 35. We got a bet/
  6. This response coming from a guy who has watched practically every game Eagleville has played since the inception of the football program a few years ago. I appreciate skj48 and his enthusiasm, however one must look at this team from a realistic and practical standpoint. This is the best football team EHS has fielded, probably not the most talented, butt the best team. They are well coached, they play extremely hard, and the ball has bounced their way all season. The injury bug has not been a factor, at least to any major contributors. The teams EHS played in the non district portion of the schedule are down this year compared to past years. The other teams and district 9 are down this year, with the exception of Community, just my opinion. It has been fun to watch this team grow, watch them play with an enthusiasm no prior Eagleville team has demonstrated, and its confidence grow from week to week. The observation that will appear below is in no way meant to detract from the team or its performance this season. The schedule presents two more tough challenges. An undefeated season and an outright district championship would be fantastic. A deep run into the playoffs would really be enjoyable to watch. However, we will probably be in the same quad with South Pitt and Gordonsville. Two tradition rich programs that each have been playing football seemingly since the dawn of time. Both playoff tested and both playing stronger schedules than the Eagles this year. Coach Carson has been a part of two state championship teams at Smyrna and knows the level the program has to get in order to compete for state championships. This season will serve as a building block to get to that level and playing teams like a South Pitt or Gordonsville in the playoffs will show the underclassmen the level of play required to compete for state championships. Who knows what will happen the rest of the year. Keep up the good work Eagles and good luck the rest of the year.
  7. Nice shot Cascade10. I remember a few years ago Cascade made marked improvement in their football team due to an influx of transfers from Shelbyville. You all were jokingly known around the region as the "Golden Champions". I don't begrudge any school the use of transfers as long as TSSAA guidelines and procedures are followed correctly and the student athletes eligibility is not compromised. Cascade has reaped the benefits of a few transfers as EHS is now doing so in baseball. I respectfully ask you to quit taking shots at programs. Having competed against people from Cascade and having various associations with people from Cascade I have the utmost respect for the school, athletic programs, and the community. I have known Coach Parker for years and he is a great guy. Same thing for Coach Bassham. I certainly hope the rest of the Cascade supporters do not share your same view regarding the use of transfers. Good luck to both teams in the sectional. It would be cool to see both of them represent District 9A in the spring fling. Y'all Be Blessed
  8. Okay Roy, I'll bite. I don't know if either staff has supplied the coach at South Pitt with game film. However, I am sure since you guys have this week off the South Pitt staff will make the drive to Lynchburg to check out the game. Do you really think it matters Roy if South Pitt has film by now or not? EHS or MCHS either one is going to have a heck of a time trying to beat you guys, especially at South Pitt. Good luck Eagles!!!!!!!!
  9. I will speak to this game from an Eagleville perspective. I have not seen MTCS play this year, so it hard for me to objectively analyze this game. I could not garner much from comparing scores and schedules. Tossing out Signal Mountain and Community, EHS's other seven games have all been close. I suspect we will see more of the same tomorrow night. Eagleville has played fairly good defense this year and will need to continue that trend to pull off a win. The offense is steadily improving week to week and will need to finish drives, not leaving points on the field. I will have to pick with heart and predict EHS 14 MTCS 13.
  10. Mercury. Eagleville has played good defense thus far this season. They are not very big, however have decent quickness and do a good job of swarming to the ball. Offensively, they are getting better. They are usually pretty conservative and play it close to the vest. Just a guess, having not seen Heritage play this year, a touchdown or field goal either way probably wins this game.
  11. I think it was suppost to be played at White House Heritage but the gym was too small ( must hold what, 1500) so it was moved to East Robertson High School in Cross Plains . This wont be the case in the future years, Starting next year White House Heritage will be in the NEW HIGH SCHOOL. . It will be one of the best gyms in Tennessee. Forrest went 11-18 during the reg season ? is that right. I'm figuring that WHHeritage might have gotten the better seed playing Forrest in the first round, as opposed to Eagleville or Cascade?? I know that WHH was the 4th place team coming out of the District tourney. But by all means dont let that fool you. They are tuff and they are a team that I would not want to face in the first round of regions.... you might just be one and done. Ha, yeah focus on Forrest's regular season record. I am sure they will appreciate that. Playing at Forrest, with the way their team is playing down the stretch, you have very very little chance of getting a win in the first round. Good luck though! I would not put any stock in Forrest's regular season record. They are a very good basketball team that is well coached and seem to be peaking at the right time time of the year. They played a very difficult schedule that seems to have prepared them well for the tournament run. Beating them in their gym will not be an easy task. Congrats to Coach McClaren and the Rocket's on the district championship. Good luck to all 9A teams in the region.
  12. Picking with my heart on this one. Eagleville and Cascade in the finals. It will be tough to beat Forrest in their gym, especially in a tournament. Coach McClaren will have them well prepared, as usual. Good luck Eagles!!!!!!
  13. I have not had the opportunity to attend as many games as I normally do this season so my knowledge of the district is limited as compared to past years. What I have seen and read leads me to believe the district is balanced and anyone can take the tournament this year. I can attest to the fact the Eagleville is not playing well right now. They did not look good against Cascade last Friday night, did not adjust well to Cascade's press, and shot selection at times was questionable at best. Reading coach Reed's comments concerning the Boyd Christian game indicates they were fortunate to get out of their with a win. The quality of officiating is usually subjective according to who one roots for and the perception in viewing a game. Being a former official I am hesitant to criticize their work. Like any chosen profession some of these guys and gals are better than others. I have seen games this year that have been very well officiated and others not so much. I believe all anyone coaches, players, and fans can ask for from a crew is consistency and hard work. No game is going to be officiated perfectly. Good luck to all teams as they compete in the tournament. Go Eagles!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Good luck to the Champions from an Eagleville fan!!!!!!!!!
