    IMAC

Prepxtra has 3 IMAC teams in their preseason top 15. It is Seymour at number 9, Jeff County at 11 and South Doyle at 15. Not bad for one conference to have 3 teams represented. Should be ahuge year for this conference.

    IMAC

Jeff County's entire lineup from 1 to 9 hit well in all 3 games. Shade Jett homered and Austin Collins, Evan Kirkpatrick and Pokey Lewis had big hits. Defensively very sound, Bo Ausmus was solid at short and Lewis threw 3 or 4 out trying to steal and picked a couple of more off. Neil Lambert, Blake Paschal, Kirkpatrick and Cody McDaniel all pitched well. Jeff actually threw what could be number 4 pitcher in Blake Ballinger against Gibbs and he did a good job. If Jeff can get this type of output they should be strong.

    IMAC

Jeff County beat Grace 16 to 2, Knox Central 11 to 0 and Gibbs 4 to 3 on Saturday at Gibbs.
  4. Jeff played at Gibbs on Saturday and looked pretty good. They beat Grace 16 to 2, Central 11 to 0 and Gibbs 4 to 3. All pitchers looked good, hitting was strong and a pretty good defensive showing. Jett homered, Bales had a couple of doubles and entire lineup hit. Defensive standouts were Ausmus at short and Lewis ended at least 3 innings by throwing someone out stealing or picking them off from behind the plate. Lambert, Kirkpatrick and McDaniel were outstanding pitching. Only scrimmages but a very good start.
  5. Potts and Tipton are better than average defensively. Jeff should be strong up the middle with Lewis being probably the best defensive catcher in the conference. Ausmus and Hodge are solid as well and if Kirkpatrick is healthy we will be good up the middle. Collins is a good outfielder and Jett does have a good glove. The past 2 summers this group has played toghether and seem to get along great. As was stated before with pitching coming through Patriots should be tough.
  6. I agree with the last post. i think that will be your starting lineup. This will as experienced and as good defensively as any team in the conference. Their batting order should be strong from top to bottom.
  7. Jeff should contend for the IMAC title if pitching comes through. Top pitchers appear to be Lambert, Paschal and Ballinger plus several others who could step up. Pokey Lewis and Austin Collins are two time all conf players returning at catcher and outfield respectively. Collins hs signed with Roane State and Lewis is committed to Chatt State. Kirkpatrick has knee injury unsure of his current status and what he may be able to contribute if healthy. Top returning Juniors are Ausmus, Tipton and Potts. Should be solid defensively and all of he players mentioned have great power. Could be Jeff's best team in years

Jeff County has an indoor facility as well.

    IMAC

I think it will be a real good race in the IMAC this year. Jeff has a very strong defense, good power but only one proven starting pitcher. Sevier is a very talented team with good speed and defense as well. M East has probably the best returning starting pitcher in the conference with Biggs. M West has a young team that won the IMAC last year and will be strong as well. South Doyle has Kirkland the best returning player and Seymour is always strong. Cherokee has Brandon Laster who will be tough to beat when he is pitching as well. Cocke County has two young coaches who are going to help this team improve in years to come. A very strong conference from top to bottom. Should be a very competitive year.
  10. Pokey Lewis from Jeff County is going to Chattanooga State. Heard Roane State is looking at Austin Collins and Evan Kirkpatrick was offered by Carson Newman.
  11. Jeff County played pretty good competition this summer over at Carson Newman and down at Cleveland a couple of times. Played at Pattersons some late but still played decent competition there. The teams they played in Cleveland were pure travel teams and I think they played about .500 ball in the tougher tournaments. Look for 2 sophmores to be tough on the mound this year in Paschal and Ballinger.
  12. IMAC has Jake Ellison and Jordan Black from M East, Matt Harrell, Jett Pressey and Richard Cook from M West. You also have Brandon Laster from Cherokee and Pokey Lewis, Austin Collins, Evan Kirkpatrick (if able to come back from knee surgery), Joe Tipton and Shade Jett from Jefferson County. Also Zach Flynn from Svier County and probably the best player in the IMAC in Matt Kirkland from South Doyle. Not real sure who Seymour or Cocke County might have.
  13. Underwood was hurt last year but should see time on varsity this year. Did not play with high school this summer but played with Pro Concepts. EK, Austin Collins and Lewis are all 3 year starters on varsity. Loads of experience due to fact that most of these boys have played together during the summer the last 2 years.
  14. The lefty is Spencer Holmes. They also have Lambert, Ballinger and Paschal that pitched well this summer. They are going to miss EK. Senior leadership will be vital to this teams success. I look for big seasons from Austin Collins, Joe Tipton, Ausmus, Jett and Pokey Lewis. Should be one of the best hitting teams Jeff has had in awhile. Conference will tough.
  15. Jefferson County baseball and softball has had winning records the past few seasons. Baseball finished second in the district and played in the regionals in 08 and finished 3rd last year. Softball is always strong. I go to games in every sport and not all kids are lazy and have no heart. I have seen the effort they put forth each and every play. Check out all sports before you say something from now on.
  16. Not sure who will be JV coach but varsity and jv should be strong this season. They have 6 seniors that I know of. They have a couple of players who have started on varsity since their sophmore seasons as well as a good junior class and some sophmores who should help. New IMAC will be tough with Sevier, Seymour and South Doyle in it now. Morrristown and East will be strong and Cherokee and Cocke County should be improved with new coaches as well. This should be an exciting year for Jefferson County.
  17. Pokey Lewis from Jefferson County is a pretty good defensive catcher as well as hitter. He has been all conference his soph and junior seasons. Pop time around 1.95 to 2.00. Not very big but great quickness and also has power. He had 4 or 5 home runs last season as well. Played fall ball for Desert Eagles. I understand some smaller schools as well as some jucos are looking at him. Has been overlooked but should get some attention in new IMAC.
