  1. You're right again pujo! JMO, but I believe Cumberland Gap & South Greene will advance, and Happy Valley will give Loudon a run for their money! Won't jaws drop if Alcoa is the only 2AA team left standing after week 1?
  2. Who can add anything about Oliver Springs special teams? How are their punter, place kicker, and return men?
  3. One real difference between Ryan Hoskins and Richard Harb is their running ability. Hoskins just passed Harb to become PrepXtra's # 1 passer, but Hoskins has also rushed 99 times, and is second on the Panthers in that department. He's a tough kid with a good arm, and he makes a lot of good decisions quickly. IMO, he adds another deminsion that will leave the Bobcats scratching their heads.
  4. I'm afraid the Bulldogs will take one on the chin, especially without their starting QB, Jared Liles. Ryan Helton, Joseph Holt, Nick Chronis, and Jeff Poore stand out in my mind as other players that give it all they have. I'm sure that other names can be added to that list. Liles, Helton, and Holt are only juniors, and will provide some great leadership for the Bulldogs next season. A lot of people will be wondering "Who let the Dogs out". Sic 'em Bulldogs!
  5. After a gracious offer from RebelNation to provide a web site for a school that needs one, I went to check and see if ours had been fixed and updated any. Lo and behold, after several months of being down, they both appear to be working now. You can link directly to each, or find them both at: http://www.claibornecountyschools.com/ Enjoy!
  6. I just tried both Cumberland Gap and Claiborne pages again, and somebody has been working on them both, so it might be getting a little better. The links were broken for several months, but are working now.
  7. Cumberland Gap and Claiborne need some help! They supposedly have websites now, but the links are broken, and the host won't help fix it. Would we be allowed to help set them up and post to them? There are a bunch of Cumberland Gap faithful on CoachT!
  8. It's easier to follow if you click on "Sorted By Class". Sonny has a lot of information loaded into his computer, but "heart" and "determination" aren't in the mix.
  9. There's a link on TSSAA. Here ya go http://members.aol.com/powerrater/h-s-foot.htm
  10. I Second That Emotion! (Where is Smokey Robinson these days?) Alcoa should win big, but you don't have to run up the score with your starters unless you don't have enough reserves to replace them all. How about a little Grey Poupon, Alcoa?
  11. There's another thread very similar to this one. I just bumped it up so I wouldn't have to repeat mysel! repeat myself! repeat myself! repeat..............
  12. Gatlinburg-Pittman at Alcoa. G-P has pretty much dominated Region 1AA for the last decade, but are really down this year. They don't take losing very well, and should be on the low side of a lopsided affair at Alcoa. Alcoa is defending a gold football, and will have huge support at home.
  13. Oops! I was aiming for an Animal Planet/CSS tilt on the game. Didn't mean to go off on a Chris "Vermin" Berman angle.
  14. Roughly 250 miles each way. Take I-40 past Knoxville, then North on I-81 to Mosheim/Greeneville exit, then East about 30 miles or so.
  15. And The Vols are 2nd best I suppose! Are there any other high school teams in your top ten, or is it (1)CAK, (2) Vols, (3)Titans, (4) NY Yankees, (5) Da Bears...........
  16. That's the quickest way to 5000+ posts! This is the second quickest!
  17. Knock it off turtle! I've seen some really good posts from you, but this "Cheater" stuff is very unbecoming. Did you really think that NG was better than SG? The Rebels are pretty darn good! I will be surprised if they fall to CAK in round 1. Very surprised indeed.
  18. Cumberland Gap will host their first ever play-off game. The consolidated school is only 3 years old, and everyone is excited to have visitors so soon. The Panthers haven't laid down and played dead for anybody, and I don't believe the Bobcats will find as much hospitality on the field, as the Bobcat fans will find in the stands. I expect a real "cat fight", with the big black cats sending the lynx variety to the litter box. The Panther defense is especially tough against the run, so Mr. Haynes and company should not forget their mouthpieces. The Panther offense is pretty well balanced, and will require a lot of adjustments by the Bobcat "D". My prediction: CG - 28 OS - 14
  19. Just a couple of definitions: Expert- A person who knows exactly what he is doing, whether he gets paid or not. Professional- A person who gets paid, whether he knows what he is doing or not. Many of the TSSAA officials do a fine job, but we really do need to turn more of the professionals into experts. Any serious suggestions on how that can be accomplished? It's hard to tell a friend or co-worker that he just doesn't make the grade, but I believe that some people need to be told to shape up, or ship out, and I don't mean to a different crew. One bad official can make a crew look bad. One bad crew can make everyone look bad. Nobody out there is perfect! I umpired baseball as a volunteer for years from Little League to American Legion, and I was never biased. That simple fact never stopped players, coaches, and fans from questioning everything from my eyesight to my intelligence.
  20. I tip my hat to both the Bulldogs and the Panthers too. A job well done by both teams! I believe that both programs are just getting started to make some noise around Region 1 AAA & AA. The ball is rolling in the right direction. Traditions are built from season to season, with support from the community, and athletes willing to work hard enough to keep it going, and stepping it up to the next level of excellence.
  21. The crowd wasn't the largest I ever ever seen, but they were loud and vocal. I like that! When the pressbox first started rocking, I thought it was an earthquake. I challenge everyone one in North Claiborne County to do even better next Friday! Folks South of the Powell River are excused to go cheer on the Bulldogs.
  22. I owe everybody who listened to our broadcast an apology from last night. In our post-game wrap up we were given bad information, and reported it as fact. Pigeon Forge scored late, and defeated Claiborne 21-19. Gibbs lost, so the Tigers finished 3rd, and the Bulldogs 4th in Region 1AAA. Sorry about the mix-up! Thanks to Seymour for bailing us out when we said that both Pigeon Forge and Claiborne were in the play-offs.
