that was what i had heard from my contacts in oak ridge also. Lost ole dad were those things ever proven, the knife pulling and fighting? I would think those things would have to be dropped before lavergne would hire anyone to be there head coach. It sure would not play good with the parents or the press. I am sure Mr. Ash checked all of his facts before pulling the trigger on this hire. atlease the long wait is almost over, the kids will finally have someone to raly around

hey i heard yesterday that smith had offered the defensive coordinator position to coach christian, i believe that is his name and he turned smith down. If that is true that is a shame!!!!!!!!!!

the new guy at Lavergne high will be stanton stevens, former head coach at oak ridge and won a state championship at austin east...it is a done deal from what i hear. He is a good guy who i believe did not coach anywhere last season. It is good that he is getting a second chance to be a head coach again...good luck wolverines

Smith, if you are reading this is my best advice is not to go.....sounds like people are restless before you have even gotten there: things that may help you to get thru your first year in moore county: rent, and do not buy unlisted phone number if someone asks you to play hangman, they are not talking about the guessing game purchase a shotgun dont read the paper, dont even buy a paper get a dog, maybe get two buy a membership to triple AAA never go to the local barbershop on saturday by stock in the jack daniels plant dont lose a game or you are done finalyy, good luck coach, you are going to need it, never have i seen a 4-6 team hate a guy so much before he has even been hired

friend of none has it right...smith was called to interview. He drove 5 hours one way and they kept him waiting over 45 minutes after the last candidate left and mr. daniels asked him 4 questions, said thank you very much, about 15 or 20 minutes and said thanks for coming...five hours back home.....i have recently heard that smith maybe going to moore county to coach there....i do know that he interviewed at least 3 times for the lavergne job before...i guess that he probably was just not a good fit

that would be a pretty unique mixture of his ooaching style, normally he usually a spread it out coach,, i know he has been more run oriented the last few years. I know this for sure is that he does not run the wing=-t a friend told me that knows him quiet well that he is in his mid forties and is fixing to get re-married and wants to move somewhere quiet and build a log cabn and coach some football and get involved in a small community where it is very quiet...he has grown up some the last few years is lee atkins still n the mix for the job?I had heard that he was?

I found his overall coaching record overall somewhere on here and he is like 77-49 overall and won 10 out of his 16 playoff games and a state championship i believe in 1A....I was just wondering why he is hated so much?

well i am sure that no one saw this coming lets see, staff being built gutted from what was put together by both smith and eubanks in the hopes of building an "elite" staff....what do you have there now....off season program is a joke had some great candidates interview but low and behold, after searching the world winds up choosing himself, the volunteer stints coaching we will see if coach dyson, and i use that term loosely, what kind of offense, what kind of defense,....i figure with his great experience they had better hire a great offensive and defensive coordinator to coach the team eubanks saw it coming, everyone did. Mr. Campbell is in trouble at indy, decisions are not good coach dyson remember these phrases and actions: one, hollar loudly and throw your hat or visor down frequently, will make you seem intense and really into the ball game second, make sure all the coaches look dressed to the nines....remember famous words from billy crystal - " it is better to look good than feel good, you look marvelous" third, use key phrases like: we lost but the kids played hard we are young but getting better every game even though we loose every game the kids are having a hard time picking up the offense and defense hey, you know that i was a tennessee titan once do you believe in miracles, i do i am channeling my inner vince lombardi, in fact vince was in on the interviews and at some point we both agreed that it was best for me to be the head coach, in fact we took two names to Mr. Campbell: Kevin dyson or kevin dyson, after almost 3 months a decision was made, dyson was chosen and he has decided to give himself several years to transistion i am sorry indy fans, i am thinking that after next year we will even be longing for the days of smith and eubanks...the kids deserve better, the parents deserve better and the students deserve better...this farce will not go on for long, eventually the people at top will be replaced and they will start over again....2 years tops maybe less parents hold their feet to the fire, look for specific plans, not long range promises....words like discipline, hard work should mean something not just be spoken...good luck coach dyson, we all want to be surprised and we all do want you to be successful ... independence deserves it go eagles

mose is a done deal at whites creek even though he never applied. One year as an assistant, called nothing. 3 years at hillwood with 4 total wins. He does have more than enough experience to coach the best group of athletes in metro. Bubba spears is the guy at hillwood. thow in the fact that kevin dyson as athletic director just hired himself as head coach with no head coaching experience and very few years as an assistant makes even more sense from an administrator standpoint...talk about a music city miracle....every friday night will be one and i am talking about warmups IN the land of the blind the one eyed man truly is king everyone here wins and the status quo goes on...bubba makes sense, he is a hardworker and a good guy....the other two...wow

any news from lynchburg, who has interviewed and who are the leading candidates?

sounds like both hires may have already been made, had heard that they were both going to be filled from inside hires. I know that scott smith had planned on interviewng for Hillwood and was snowed out by the storm.. He did not tell me whether he was interviewing for whites creek or not, i think it would not be a good match personally but he told me that a friend called him yesterday and told him not to even bother with hillwood, that the job was for sure already decided and he was wasting time driving back to Nashville. good luck scott and i hope you make it back to nashville

who were the other finalists, any other head coaches? If so, what were their records at the high school level? was there no one else qualified or had the credentials the AD wanted or did they just go with who looked good on paper?

so is johnson not certified to teach anything? Is he that much more qualified to coach high school football than the other candidates? Was he a position coach or a coordinator? This is a huge investment and unprecedented move by Warren Co. to bring this guy in. It's a far cry from calling plays with professional athletes to calling plays with teenagers. it is officially unofficially,local news confirmed what everyone has known forever. Official announcement at 1 pm tomorrow. Unofficially though Stacy carter will be joining the hill...this was a done deal all along, the other two, esp. turner was a distant second place to make the "community" feel like a part...very little interest shown outside of johnson city and now everyone gets what they wanted. before everyone goes haywire you might do good to remember that weather had a lot to do with the kids not working out and stacy not being in school. I believe that they call them "snow days"....not trying to be a smart but but i do think that they missed some days early in the week due to snow and ice
