  1. So in week 2 we got this: Tullahoma 16 Coffee Co. 0 Shelbyville 35 Marshall Co. 28 Columbia 27 Dickson Co. 21 Davidson Ady 41 Lincoln Co. 13 South Pitt 28 Franklin Co. 14 Loretto 24 Lawrence Co. 20 Mt. Pleasant 18 Spring Hill 13 Tullahoma's offense can only get better. The defense, and especially special teams, totally dominated Coffee Co. It wasn't even close. Shelbyville keeps proving they can score. They'll easily beat Manchester this week. Columbia beat a bad Dickson Co. team, but couldn't score a point against Marshall Co. They will likely get better each week. Lincoln Co., Franklin Co., and Lawrence Co. are gonna fight it out for that #4 spot. That begins Friday with Lawrence at Lincoln. I'll take Lawrence. After Week 2 1. Shelbyville 2. Tullahoma 3. Columbia 4. Franklin Co. 5. Lawrence Co. 6. Lincoln Co. 7. Spring Hill (hey, they scored last week) Listen to Tullahoma football every week right here: https://www.youtube.com/@TUALightTube
  2. The only two winners were Lawrence Co. and Lincoln Co., both over smaller schools by slim margins. I agree, Shelbyville is the only team that impressed offensively, but there defense struggled giving up 55 points. After Week 1 1. Lawrence Co. 2. Lincoln Co. 3. Shelbyville 4. Tullahoma 5. Franklin Co. 6. Columbia 7. Spring Hill Early Predictions for Week 2 Tullahoma over Coffee Co. South Pitt over Franklin Co. Columbia over Dickson Co. Davidson Academy over Lincoln Co. Lawrence Co. over Loretto Marshall Co. over Shelbyville (Thu) Mt. Pleasant over Spring Hill
  3. My predicted order of finish is: 1. Tullahoma 2. Shelbyville 3. Lawrence Co. 4. Lincoln Co. 5. Columbia 6. Franklin Co. 7. Spring Hill
  4. The new Class 5A Region 5 is reuniting rivals who formed District 8-AAA back in the three-classification days, and the Central Tennessee Conference before the playoff system began in 1969. The outlier is Spring Hill. Missing is Coffee County and Warren County. Both play in Class 6A. This will be among the weakest 5A regions in the state. NON-REGION OPPONENTS Columbia - Marshall Co., Hunters Lane, Dickson Co., and James Lawson. Lawrence County - Summertown, Loretto, Cheatham Co., and Giles Co. Franklin County - Coffee Co., South Pittsburg, Moore Co., and East Hamilton Lincoln County - Richland, Davidson Academy, Giles Co., and Cookeville Spring Hill - Summit, Mt. Pleasant, Maplewood, and James Lawson Shelbyville - Siegel, Marshall Co., Coffee Co., and Wilson Central Tullahoma - Stewarts Creek, Coffee Co., Rockvale, and Warren Co. Who is going to make the playoffs from this region?
  5. As a pbp broadcaster and talk show host, I found Murphy's book to be extremely valuable as a tool to help prepare. As Murphy's former webmaster, I know he sold thousands of books each year, delivering them himself to all corners of the state. I miss that. Anxious to see what Donovan produces this year. Nine weeks away from kickoff and I'm getting anxious.
  6. Tullahoma's non-region opponents for 2023-24 are Stewarts Creek, Coffee County, Rockvale, and Warren County. All are 6A schools.
  7. Great point Percy. You called me out and rightly so. My apologies. Telling anyone to get a life is not being good to each other. I love that fans have this forum to express opinions, and I do sometimes come here and express my own opinion. Everyone has a right to opinion, and free speech is the most important right we have.
  8. I didn't go anywhere. I've been calling Tullahoma football games for almost 40 years, so I've seen more THS games than all of you combined. If you want my thoughts on THS football affairs, then listen to the broadcasts. This is your place to give your opinions. The fact I don't come on here every week and give mine shouldn't be an issue. Get a life. This is the normal ebb and flow of the Tullahoma program. I'm excited about Coach Sisk and the future of the Wildcats. Great offensive lines come across about every 10-12 years or so at THS, although I do think next season, when all the juniors and sophomores from this year are bigger, stronger, and have the gained experience from this season, the line will be considerably better. Most of the defense returns, and the defense was certainly the strength of this year's team. Although they were often put in bad field position, overall they were the bright spot. The kicking game will be one of the best in the state next year, and that should give the Wildcats an advantage over most opponents. Some of you talk as if Tullahoma had a choice in classification or region alignment. Of course they don't. The last two years was kind of a fluke as far as enrollment dropping enough to move THS to 4A. Turns out, it was a magnificent move that resulted in a state championship (and a lot of long road trips and empty visiting stands). Now the school has grown 100 students and is back where it belongs; in 5A playing rivals Shelbyville, Franklin County, Lincoln County, etc. It's good for the fans, the players and coaches, and gate money. Now this is entertainment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Izk-kWS0k9g
  9. Tullahoma beat Hillwood 42-10 and Hillwood beat Glencliff 50-9. That signals the potential is high for a running clock. Even if they wanted to, and I doubt it was ever discussed, you can't just 'go to the wing T' in one year and have success. It would be a total shift in playing style for the entire team. Can't do that in one year, and I disagree that the Wildcats had the personnel to effectively run it this year. We all knew this was going to be a difficult rebuilding year, and it has been. The move to 5A will be a huge step up as far as travel and home gates go. The playoff path in 5A is still unknown until the regions are announced. Will we go east or west (Region 4 or 5 or 6)?

  11. Tonight's Coffee Pot is once again included in the United States Marines' Great American Rivalry Series. You can hear the audio worldwide at https://www.youtube.com/c/TUALightTube.
  12. Friday at Wilkins Stadium the Tullahoma Wildcats (1-0) host Coffee County (0-1) in the 97th edition of the Coffee Pot contest. Tullahoma edged Shelbyville 16-7 in Week 1. Coffee County fell to Franklin County 27-20 in the final seconds. Who do you like in this matchup?
  13. Just trying to keep you folks on track. Your minds tend to wander...
  14. Enough about whoever it is your talking about. This thread is about the Tullahoma Wildcats. Yes, 22 seniors graduated. Did they all start? No. Multiple starters went both ways, sometimes starting and sometimes not. Since the Wildcats blew out most of their opponents, the younger players got a lot more playing time than would normally be the case. Sometimes they played over half the game. Additionally, the upcoming classes have been in the same system and same weight training program as last year's seniors. I think they will do better than expected. Both coordinators return and keep an eye on the kicking game. It will be impressive. I'm not predicting a region title for the Wildcats, but I do think they will be one of four playoff teams. I'm predicting 8-2 or 7-3 and maybe third in Region 5-4A. Expect the same four teams; Pearl Cohn, Tullahoma, Marshall County, and Montgomery Central to go to the playoffs from this ridiculous nine-team region.
  15. I'm opening the door of discussion about the upcoming season for the defending Class 4A state champion Tullahoma Wildcats. They open the season at home against Shelbyville on Thursday, Aug. 18. They have a new head coach in Coy Sisk. They must play Marshall County, Pearl Cohn, and Montgomery Central on the road. All three were ranked in the Top 10 last year. They lost 22 seniors and have a small but talented rising senior class. Can they challenge for a third consecutive region crown?
  16. I support giving Coach Sisk the opportunity to be the head coach if he wants it. Since he took over as DC the Cats have gotten better every year. The methods that are already in place have proven to be highly successful. I'm not sure why you would change the system at this point. It's working. However, not every coordinator or assistant coach wants to be a head coach. Tullahoma is a pretty big job for someone who has never been a head coach, especially considering the success that will be expected. It's going to be tough to follow a legend. Most head coaching hires are made when a program is not successful, meaning schools are usually looking to shake things up inside the football program. Coming off a state championship, the Wildcats are certainly not in that position.
  17. Listen live to the Tullahoma vs. Elizabethton game at: I have been the voice of the Tullahoma Wildcats for 30 years. My analyst, Ken Keller, has been with me five years. We provide quality commentary. You'll always know the down, distance, score, and time left in the quarter.
  18. Let's not turn this into a p*%&%ing contest between East Tennessee teams. This board is about Tullahoma vs. Elizabethton Saturday morning in Chattanooga. Past history does matter. The experience of having played in two state championship games is a significant advantage for the Cyclone seniors. Statistics for both these teams are misleading because many of their games were over by halftime. From what I normally see on state championship weekend, one team will start fast and the other team will either recover and make it a game or fall short at the end. Tullahoma all the way!
  19. Any suggestion that Tullahoma is the favorite Saturday is nonsense. A 2X defending state champ has to be the favorite regardless of who they are playing. On the other hand, I'll take the underdog Wildcats this week. This game will likely go down to the wire. Tullahoma has proven in the past two weeks that they can dominate the last few minutes. I don't know that they can dominate 'Betsy, but I think they can close it out at the end. Turnovers and costly penalties will be the difference. The winner will need strong QB play. Time of possession and ball control will not be relevant statistics. Tullahoma plays very fast and scores big plays from all over the field. Special teams for the Wildcats are outstanding, with PK/P Justus Chadwick a Mr. Football finalist. QB comparison: Ryan Scott (T) 124-171 for 1,958 yds and 14 TD with 4 INT Bryson Rollins (E) 109-183 for1,645 yds and 22 TD with 6 INT. Running Game: Rollins/Russell (E) 388 carries for 2,388 yds and 32 TD Cummings/Sheffield/Scott (T) 277 carries for 2,026 yds and 35 TD Kickoffs: Chadwick (T) 60-62 PAT, longest FG 49 yds Smithdeal (E) 54-60 PAT, longest FG 26 yds Just some examples of how these two teams compare in statistical categories. Looks like a pretty even game on paper. Can't wait for Saturday.
  20. Here is where you can hear the audio call from me and Ken Keller. Youtube.com/tualighttube. I've broadcast Tullahoma football for 30 years and this is the strongest team we've ever had. This matchup with Haywood seems to be pretty even on paper. Don't discount the experience Haywood earned last year by winning their semifinal game. Tullahoma is playing its first semifinal game since 1987 but has been to the quarterfinals in three of the past four years. The Air Force base does not directly contribute to the facilities or program at Tullahoma. The city financed the building of the new stadium (it was not a remodel), and the quarterback club bought the jumbotron, etc. Come on Haywood fans, make the drive and let's join together to give these young men a tremendous atmosphere Friday night.
  21. Tullahoma is playing its best football of the season and I think Montgomery Central is as well. With each playing its best the edge goes to the Wildcats. All this other is just a sideshow. I've been doing this 35 years, and this is the most focused Tullahoma team I've ever seen. When these two teams met on Oct. 8, Tullahoma fumbled the opening kickoff, giving the Indians the ball at the 12 and they marched in for a TD. After that, Montgomery Central punted seven times and turned it over three times. With 9:14 left in the first quarter Tullahoma trailed for the only time this season. The Wildcats responded with a 70-yard march for a TD with 6:40 left in the first. That is 2 minutes and 34 seconds that Tullahoma has trailed ALL SEASON. The defense is stifling, the special teams are outstanding, and the offense is balanced and highly explosive. It is difficult to beat a quality opponent twice in a season, and the Indians have proven their quality the past couple of weeks. However, Tullahoma held MC to 100 yards total offense and I just don't see the visitors finding a path to victory at Wilkins Stadium.
  22. Tullahoma's 37-7 win over Montgomery Central was never close, even with the Wildcats giving the Indians the ball on the opening kickoff at the 12-yard line. Central scored then but not again. The Wildcats' defense was absolutely lights out. For those who thought it might be close, it was not. The region will end with Tullahoma 1st, then Pearl Cohn, Marshall Co., and Mont Central. Hardin Co. will beat Central in the opening round of the playoffs, but the Region 5-4A teams will win the other three first round games. After that...
  23. The last time Marshall County played at Tullahoma was the 2nd round of the playoffs last year. The Tigers fought with each other at halftime and Tullahoma rolled to an easy win. This game will be very physical. The Tigers may be more dangerous with Davis at QB. Tullahoma plays great team defense and tackles very well. Ryan Scott has played solid at QB for the Wildcats. Tullahoma 38-20.
  24. Based on Sonny's rating, Region 5-4A has the No. 1 team, three of the top six teams and four of the top 11. Is 5-4A the strongest 4A region in the state? FYI. Tullahoma beat Franklin County 38-5 in scrimmage Friday night. The Wildcats have outscored Warren and Franklin County 80-5 over the last two scrimmages. Tullahoma will be tested when it travels to 6A Shelbyville Thursday at 7pm All Tullahoma games will be broadcast audio on 93.9 The Duck, 939theduck.com, The Duck app, and the LightTube Sports Network YouTube channel. TV broadcast is live video in Tullahoma on LightTube channel 23.
