We had some studs in the backfield and still made a living in '13 thru '16 running the QB outta shotgun. I personally love the keeper plays if theres a line to block and QB with the footwork to do it. Am I correct to believe that the QB keeper plays were called late in the game when the D would be tired and could be taken advantage of?? If the line isnt blocking for that, could they have blocked for anyone?

We are young but dont figure we've had many lucky breaks this season. When we've won, we had the mindset to play ball...for 4 qtrs. At half, SG made some line changes and ran the ball down our throats and hit some hot routes. Before that, we lost a lineman and 6'2 235lb Oaks at linebacker. That made a huge difference. SG will give HV all they want and vice versa. It should be a very good ballgame.

And HV! Cland has single digit games against both! We go to SG and play a second half like the whole game at Cland...enough to make a man chip his teeth

Line is really young...QB, backfield, secondary, will be really young but we'll be a handful in '19 Will be 2020 or '21 before we're that good again.

Lots of those live right there in Butler. Didnt they go to Hampton Middle school too? We dont get many from Cland and none I can think of from Unaka

Agreed....A player like that combined with Coffe and the line they have up there would bring fear to any team west of here.

Mine would've got and my others could definitely get better recognition at Elizabethton...That's a given....so is Hampton, Cloudland and HV being much better with those players. I understand their reasoning in going but the game atmosphere in these small schools is unmatched...especially when they're rolling. And yes Appvol, I also understood from the beginning, that Russell moved for baseball...But he was already known as a stud in football.

That's true, no doubt. But one injury in either program, and they're done as we've witnessed in those deep runs.

It is understandable. But still leaves CC schools with those "down" seasons too

One player can make a huge difference in 1A and 2A schools though... not so much in 4A IMO

If Cory Russell stays at Cloudland...If Rollins stays at Happy Valley...If Parker Hughes stays at Hampton and none of them go to Elizabethton, how much better would these 3 teams be today? And just how good would Eliz be without them?

Yea a darn 3 way tie. SMH As Pujo and I have talked, we are on our way up. Hate to lose a couple of these seniors too. But youth means experience is coming. The last couple of years, many have expected us to do what we did the years before. People cant understand we dont have the ability right now to do what we've done in the past, to run the plays we've run in the past, to take the chances we've took in the past....But it's coming

True, but we mishandled two onside kicks and a fumble on a great drive. Not sure it was a fumble either...But D was on the field A LOT the second half
