  1. Congrats on the great win! Your still on top until someone knocks ya'll off....rebuilding year or not Way to defend your court and titles the program has worked so hard at over these last few years. Your team really took it those highly ranked D2 schools a week ago too. Looks like ya'll will be under everyone's radar, not a bad place to be Good Luck on the rest of the season!
  2. Lets roll TROJANS!!!!! Beat CBHS and begin receiving that respect back!! Millington-13; CBHS-7 in a low scoring battle!!!
  3. Get em' Lady Trojans!!!!!!!!!!! See you at 3 this afternoon!!
  4. Well hopefully they (Overton) will have their minds on the Grizz Game and whatever it means to them. Ill be there, screaming at the frefs as usual.....GO LADY TROJANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Come on Millington Lady Trojans!!!!!!!! We were upset last year at HOME vs the same team we gotta get thru to get to state this year. We are playing extremely well but i think we can do better. We have GOT to pull down those OFF REBOUNDS and when we do for gods sake put the ball up strong. We miss so many under the basket shots when we do get that off rebound. Go up strong girls and use your height advantage. I truly believe that this teams belongs in the Boro'. Play YOUR style of smart, patient basketball, rebound, and hit those free throws and you will DEFEAT Overton. WE gotta watch their star player, Jasmine Robinson (i believe is her name).....she lit us up last year ladies.....get on her and stay on her!!!!!!
  6. Not trying to troll ur thread but dnt forget Millington-AAA Runner up 2008 (we have lost the AAA game 3 years running..hopefully this year we will break that darn streak! Go West TN!! LOL)
  7. Hate to hear about the refs but regardless Fairly is a great team. I saw them barely loose to Millington in the Hall of Fame and beat Millington at the Dragon Fire Inv. Westview has a tough game coming in playing the Lady Dawgs'.....I predict Fairly by 11. Good Luck Fairly i know u will represent West TN to the fullest in da Boro'
  8. Memphis Central isnt the best at the run-gun game sometimes. They can easily let it get out of control, however they have a great coach and def play intense defense. Northside began the second half running against Millington and did a fair job. The Lady Indians just need to play smart basketball. I like your chances and would love to see a rematch in the state tourny...maybe for the championship lol, i know thats wayyy down the road but it would mean the AAA Gold Ball would def make it West TN finally! Good Luck Northside!
  9. They both are excellent players, esp Cobb. She has a great shot. Northside has a great team and pushed us to the brink BUT they couldnt stop Ms AAA Finalist Jasmine Newsome's 38 points!!
  10. Millington's Jasmine Newsome scored 38 points last night to lead the Lady Trojans to a 63-60 OT victory over Jax Northside.
  11. One heck of a game!!! CONGRATS Lady Trojans! Kudos to Northside, you had great fans and good sportsmanship. Seeing two of your players helping Jasmine up after a collision was nice to see. We def wouldn't see that vs most local teams. Now its time for REVENGE vs Overton!!!!!!!! Get em' Lady Trojans!!!!
  12. LOL then dont pretend jackass, im at work and have to type real fast bc im NOT suppose to be on the computer, ohh yeah back to the REAL topic, GO MILLINGTON!!!!
  13. Cant wait for tonights game! Should be a battle to the end, i predict the Lady Trojans by 7. I think our speed is what will win the game, quick hands and fast layups for easy points is how i think we are gonna win. Should be interesting to see the size match up and how we handle playing a team with the hight we have. Most teams Millington has played have been smaller in hight. Misha Jones, we need you to pull down those defensive and offensive REBOUNDS tonight....i think she can make a huge impact tonight! We do have more weapons than Jasmine, that's whats great about this team......GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS!!
  14. AMEN!!!!! Been waiting for this game all season!! LOL Good Luck to both teams and here's to an injury free game. GO MILLINGTON!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Millington over Munford 47-26. Looks like Coach Gat played a slow tempo game, saving fresh legs for the rest of the tournament. Craigmont is out next challenge...gotta play them for the 3rd time, not an easy task but i think the Lady Trojans will prevail. Arlington vs Northside should be a GREAT game! Good Luck to all!!
  16. LOL I so didnt see that other thread going.....oops
  17. Whats anyone's thoughts on this Region? My girls, Millington beat Munford 47-26 and i see that it was almost a District 14 -3A sweep. Im glad Northside won thou, i really want it to be Millington vs Jax Northside for the final. CONGRATS to our district rivals Arlington and Craigmont for their victories. GO MILLINGTON!!!!!!!!
  18. The refs in West Tn/Memphis Metro stink it up real bad this year. I swear this one guy hates Millington, no matter who we face he leans towards the other team and its very obvious! Hate to think any ref would do such a thing on purpose.
  19. Article in Wed's Commercial Appeal.....way to go Millington!!!! Another year, another district tournament win, another 30-win season for the Millington girls basketball team — though the sigh and shake of the head from coach Stan Gatlin would tell you the degree of difficulty hasn’t gotten lower. “It doesn’t seem to come easy for us, but we get it done,” said Gatlin, after the Trojans (30-2) had to stage a late rally for a 49-43 win over Arlington (25-7) and its raucous home crowd in Tuesday’s District 14-AAA tournament final. In the consolation game Craigmont (14-13) rolled to a big first-half lead, then held off Cordova (20-8) for the 45-41 upset. All four teams advance to the Region 7-AAA tournament that starts Friday. It’s the third straight district tournament title for the Trojans, whose senior class is now a remarkable 132-13, with a state runnerup finish in 2008. Senior guard Jasmine Newsome, led the way with 22 points to earn tournament MVP honors. But only seven of them came after halftime, and for a time in the third quarter Millington’s offense seemed to revolve around Newsome driving to the basket looking for a layup or a foul. And she was getting neither. The Tigers, meanwhile, spread the floor, finally hit a few jump shots and capped a 9-2 opening-run in the final period with a basket from 6-foot junior center Camille Alberson with 5:15 to play. That gave her team a 41-40 lead, and sent a shock wave of euphoria through the Arlington faithful. Yet all those decibels never pushed the Trojans into panic mode. Newsome said there was no reason. “We’ve been in this situation so many times, there was nothing really to worry about,” the UT-Martin signee said. “We needed to keep playing defense and rebounding, because this game was about layups.” Senior Tamarah Brandon regained the lead on a putback off an offensive rebound a minute later. Then, with 3 ½ minutes left, she took a feed from sophomore Nikki Moffett and drilled her only 3-pointer of the night to make it a 45-41 game. “I fed off the emotion of the moment,” said Brandon, who finished with 11 points. She added, “This team isn’t quite to where the team my 10th-grade was, but I think we’re getting pretty close. We’ve got the intensity.” Arlington managed just one more field goal the rest of the game, while Millington kept getting to the foul line, though it hit only four of its last 11 free throws — three by Newsome. “She’s a great player, and that’s a solid team,” Arlington coach David Offerle said, “but we had them on the hook there for a moment. Only thing was, we couldn’t hit shots or get rebounds after that.” Olivia Maddox, another senior, finished with 14 rebounds for Millington, while 6-1 sophomore Jasmine Prophet had five blocks, earning her a spot on the all-tournament team. Prophet had blocked 10 shots in the semifinal round. “We get that kind of rebounding, and have Jasmine waiting in the middle, we always give ourselves a chance,” said Gatlin. Junior sub Hannah Northam had nine points, Alberson and junior Rachel Oaks had eight while all-tourney pick Ariel Hearn, a sophomore, added seven for an Arlington program that has put together back-to-back 20-win seasons. With 10 seconds to go in the opening game, Cordova junior Taylor Jeffries was diving for a loose ball when she took an elbow in the head, and was eventually taken off on a stretcher to LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center. All-tourney pick Jamil Jefferson had 16 points, freshman Shenequa Foster added 10 to pace Craigmont. All-tourney pick Shae Nelson and Ariana Hayes had 12 points apiece for the Wolves.
