Regarding the Airport Motor Mile Kick-Off Classic on August 20th at Maryville..... Gates open at 3:00 Alcoa vs. Cleveland @ 5:00 Maryville vs. Webb to follow afterward. Tickets go on sale next week. They are $10. This gets you in to see both games. This could get very interesting from a stadium capacity standpoint. If the stadium seats about 7,000 and both Maryville and Alcoa each average about 7,000 at their home games.....doesn't this mean that 14,000 "local" fans (plus everybody high school football fan and their mother from the Knoxville area) will be trying to pack into the stadium? It may be 12-deep along the fences. Will be interesting to see Maryville and Alcoa folks all mixed in together at a game. I guess we live right around the corner from each other, so it shouldn't be too bad.

From the comments on the Memphis Commercial Appeal website: "I really believe Maryville doesn't have the competition that the teams in West Tennessee have. In Memphis, the teams are so talented and beat up on each other. I believe if Maryville were on the west side, I don't believe they would be going to the state championship game year after year. Good Luck and bring home that gold ball for the city of Memphis". ..........I believe if Maryville were on the west side, I'd probably have to move.
