  1. Hair appointment was right! Had to get some purple spray and get it highlighted in Dragon colors so I can show my pride. I was through with this thread but.....I guess the guys who are never beens wanted to call out a girl. I am not but that is probably much you guys style same as your team. Find a weak opponent and beat them up. I was a player back in the day and can remember some things about bledsoe football but one of those wasn't crybabies and whiners like you guys are. When we played against them at least they played hard. I still get a thrill knowing that even though my teams didn't beat them this year's York team is going to get my revenge both times. Well maybe not, Cannon may get you
  2. I do not want to bring anything except insight into this so please do not take this as coach bashing but here goes: It used to be that football coaches had trouble with AAU basketball causing athletes to miss workouts but as soon as that was over they got them back. There is also not much way that every basketball player in a certain area can play in the AAU nationals. In baseball however, it seems that the season is endless. There are tons of "state and national champions" and fall leagues and countless other tournament and travel teams. Also there is a special hitting or pitching coach on every corner trying to convince every player that a few more days with them and a few more dollars and they can be the next superstar. Football is relegated to fall and spring practice as far as play is concerned. Yes there are weight workouts and conditioning but baseball has games year round. To get more participation there has to be some control on the amount of time a player can play with an outside team and still remain eligible for h.s. competition
  3. Kevin, I do not agree with using the message boards to air problems but I must say that I give you props for using your name and I like the suggestion of using your real name any time that you have a negative (character or personal) comment about a coach. If I were a coach I would probably not be on these boards because I wouldn't want to know what a terrible job I was doing. Maybe more people should feel like they can talk to the coach or maybe coaches should make themselves accessable if they are not. Again, I love h.s. football and hope that everyone realizes the positives it produces when young men learn to overcome the bad things that happen to them and simply get up and try again.
  4. Ok you caught me with the winning record thing. Truth is I don't know if we can beat Upperman or not and I am sure that you guys are going to beat Cannon. I hope that we get a shot at you because it will mean we finished 3rd. I did not mean to start a fight on this sight I just hate to see coaches not getting the credit they deserve while someone else has an agenda and tries to give all the credit to the assistant coach. And, I was wondering if any of the people on this board had actually played football for bledsoe
  5. JC I agree with you on that point. However, as I stated earlier anytime that you are being overly critical of a coach during the season you are undermining the authority. I don't disagree that these boards are often times set up where people can "gripe" about the plays that are called or maybe even who plays, but that is as far as it should go. When you start discussing discipline or lack of it you begin to question a coach's ethics. If you have a coach who doesn't work or work the kids or is not doing the best that he can then changes should be made. However, sometimes a ship that looks like it is sinking is just getting ready to make a run. The Titanic sunk and people should have gotten off of it earlier but Christopher Columbus held his course until the got to dry ground. Yeah, where did that come from. haha lighten up!!! We still get to watch our children play the greatest game ever and enjoy what many people don't have the opportunity to and that is the freedom of Friday Nights
  6. I do enjoy coming to Bledsoe County. It is a beautiful place to watch a game and will be even better after it is over. You guys have really improved during this year and should feel like a true power. You haven't beaten anyone with a winning record this year though so don't think you can start that on us.
  7. I appreciate all of the moderators telling how to help the bad image that this board sometimes portrays. I feel guilty when I question a coach, a player or even a poster. The fact is that if people would look at this board as a way to promote h.s. sports then this would be a tremendous asset. If you have a problem with something a coach is doing by all means do something about it. However, in the middle of a tough season is not the time to do it and this surely isn't the place. Talk with the administrators of your school and see what can be done. Also, try to find out from the coach what can be done to make him/her succeed. I know that many times coaches need help but don't know where to find it and therefore become extremely defensive. Character is always being displayed whether you like it or not. Trying to degrade someone shows what type of character you have. Trying to help a situation also shows the type of character you have. Think about who you want as your coach and then ask yourself why
  8. It's if you don't know anyTHING don't say anyTHING. Sorry didn't know had to give an English lesson. I am sure that you weren't unhappy with one of the coaches of the past but am sure that someone else there was complaining about him. Did you play on one of the teams that we beat? If so I am sorry I guess someone should have blamed us for winning.
  9. It is not about questioning play calling or going for it on 4th down. It is about questioning character and even going as far as saying that his record is not good enough. there are many fine coaches who have poor records. Also, there are some really good coaches who would not dare touch some jobs. The reason is fan base, $ and talent level as well as past history of the program and administration. There are also coaches who do a wonderful job bringing programs out of the depths of 0-10 records but have to endure several years of poor play to get quality. By then their overall record is not good but there is no doubt that they are a good coach. I would rather my son play for a hard working dedicated Christian coach who taught him how to play the game and work hard, than for someone who had no discipline used players to get a good record and had no respect for or from his players no matter what the final record was. Coaches I would like my kid to play for - Bill Curry types and just look at his record. Also, I would love my son to play for Hal Mumme - He has made several mistakes but I feel that he would be a great role model for not giving up on yourself
  10. Dragons, we need this game but right now it is getting crunch time. Don't believe all that you read, play hard and take 1 at a time
  11. You are very right about the fact that I have only seen the team once but I have listened to all of your complaining for at least the last year and before that you guys were complaining about Coach Brown (from Jamestown) and before that the coach and before that the coach and before that the coach. remember that we have a long history of beating you guys,
  12. "On this board we have moderators. It is up to the moderators to inforce our agreed upon guidelines. If Coach T and the moderators don't want a topic or thread, they can and do end it. " I would love for some of the cowards to step up and meet many of these coaches face to face. The sad part is that most coaches have too much class to deal with it. The comment that coaches know that there are people who will not like them is the saddest commentary ever on our society. How would you like it if someone walked into your job and started yelling at you because he/she did not like the way you were doing things? Not gonna happen! The sad and terrible thing about some of this is that many coaches are bashing other coaches and starting many of the problems. Then they can feel good about themselves. It doesn't mean you are succeeding just because someone else isn't!!! Finally, IT IS THE JOB OF THE MODERATORS TO REMOVE THREADS THAT ARE DAMAGING TO PLAYER OR COACHES!!!!!! Maybe the truth is that many of the coach T moderators are nothing more than coaches with agendas themselves. StanTrott thanks for this line but please make sure that you are not causing or fueling any rumors yourself, I remember seeing those things several years ago. Not questioning your integrity and totally appreciate your stance. If I was wrong I apologize
  13. Some of you guys are amazing. To not give credit to Coach Boynton for this is un believable. I look forward to playing you guys again unless something happens. Your coach has turned the program around and without a blow up will finish 2nd in the region and host a play-off game yet you are still berating him in every way and giving credit to an assistant coach. Did the assistant coach the offense or the defense. Did he run the special teams and make all decisions during the game or he just another person who wants some glory for someone else's hard work. Give credit where credit is due, not to some hyped up hollering Trooper Taylor want a be. I didn't hear him getting alot of credit after we blasted you guys early in the season.
  14. Close and remove this thread! More coach bashing on Coach T whether you win or lose. I guess some people just won't close or remove a thread because they like to see coaches criticized. As far as running up the score; I believe it is far more embarassing to have 8th graders score, a team to try not to score, or be given things than to simply get beaten. There are things that can be done to keep scores down but the biggest thing is on the team getting beaten, don't throw the ball, don't turn in over, run between the tackles and play a safe conservative defense that allows you to tackle the running back when he breaks through the line.
  15. I would like to know who every poster thinks is the best coach that their school has ever had. Please post your opinions and why
  16. I would like to know who every poster thinks is the best coach that their school has ever had. Please post your opinions and why
  17. This sounds like a sad incident during a great football game. My question though is kind of in support of Mr Meadows, though I certainly do not condone his actions. Why did the radio personalities not apologize for making a comment and if they felt threatened leave the pressbox or ask someone to intervene? As far as a suspension I think that is a bit strong but maybe this gentlemen should not be allowed in the pressbox in that capacity. However, how many parents feel so defensive of their children that they are ready to fight anyone for them? Coach Meadows is a fine coach and good man, please do not continue to degrade his father on this website
  18. This should be closed and deleted. Coach T another ball dropped by the people who are supposed to be watching this site. To WC Coach Alexander had not burned up the state with his previous coaching record so let's not just say that because a coach does not have a winning record that he isn't a good coach. Bear Bryant even had a season where he struggled.
  19. coach I saw your team play this year and they seem to play really hard, I had you guys pencilled in for a play-off spot but for whatever reason maybe injuries you guys are struggling. It is my unprofessional opinion that there are only some things that can be done and some of them it is too late for 1 make sure that during spring and fall camp you are utilizing all players and not worrying as much about winning a scrimmage. I know easier said than done 2 make sure that most of your practice time is working with all players instead of just lining up and scrimmaging against the best of the rest 3 work to make younger players understand simple plays and then they will become confident with them 4 dumb down your play-book instead of looking for new solutions...I know that sounds crazy but it will reinforce confidence and you and your staff will be able to spend more time on fundamentals and less trying to teach plays 5 try to relax and have some fun during practice, sometimes that renews the spirit of both coaches and players Finally my prayers are with you and your team. In the grand scheme of things it is more important that they learn to never give up but to look up
  20. My prayers go out to these people. The only comfort is the one that comes from the belief that the people we love, who go before us, will be seen again.
  21. I personally enjoy alot of things about this web site and really appreciate the recognition it gives players from all over the state. However, I am also of the opion (everyone has one) that too much of a good thing can cause many problems. It seems that too often coaches are questioned and critisized enough at the games and in their local communities and now it has gotten where they can be openly critiqued on a web site that is seen by anyone who has a computer. I believe that this is wrong. Players do not need to hear negative comments about the people who are trying to instruct them no matter if you think the coach is doing a poor job or not. More importantly though the family of these coaches should not be subjected to all of the negative comments that are made about someone that they love. I feel that athletics should be based upon physical activity and discipline for young people. If parents are questioning the discipline of a coach then they should take their child off the team not complain on a message board. As was earlier stated it is not the right to play but the priviledge to play. Finally, if you look at most of the posts that are made they are made by students during school time. This is a violation of many board of education rules. Someone should enforce this. Coach T is a wonderful website and I wish it the best of luck. However, negative comments about coaches, players or the opposition should be IMMEDIATELY removed not just locked.
  22. Ftbl fan do not listen to people who are constantly trying to upset you, all they want is for you to feel unhappy and tell you that you have no business being concerned. I know by your posts that your heart is in the right place and that you sincerely care about not only the football program but the people and children in your area. Don't let people shut you up, just make sure that you are doing things for the right reason. Vengeance is mine...
  23. ftbl fan, I have been reading your posts for a long time and appreciate your loyalty to your school and your kids as well as the players. I am sure that if I were coaching your team that I would appreciate the passion that you have for the doyle cherokees. Keep your head up and remember what I said a few posts ago. As for the people saying smart things against you, that is just the way that people try to make us lose our joy
  24. ftbl fan, congratulations to your team and the boys, i still understand your situation is troubling but i also know that there are things that work also, hate to put this on a board because I am sure that someone will make ugly comments about it, but here goes pray and believe that His plan is better and His timing is perfect
  25. check my other post to see how I feel about making fun of someone who apparently can't really defend themself and wants to help. If you guys are from whitwell you are definately not the type of people who I would want representing my program or community.
