  1. You don't need one in Chattanooga, either.....as long as you stay away from Brainerd...
  2. I highly doubt bingobob is an authentic Science Hill fan. SH fans are much more reserved regarding SH football, even after the successes of the recent years, or they don't even bother spending time on boards such as this. For most, the dark ages of SH football, which lasted nearly two decades, are still fresh in our memories. It is more plausible that bingobob is a DB fan in disguise.
  3. Very little, if any, of the thread is regarding what took place on the field. Just pity squabble between adults living vicariously through high schoolers. Probably one of the reasons I don't frequent this board as often as I once did. All the best, gents.
  4. After reading through this thread, I honestly wonder what some of you guys would do with yourselves without Maryville football.....
  5. I haven't been since my grandparents took me as a youngster nearly 20 years ago, so I have no idea. I only remember it having generic fried stuff and a sub par salad bar.....and hushpuppies. Nothing wrong with that, if that's you're thing, but JC has better to offer.
  6. If you're up for something a little different, try Freiberg's. It's downtown, just a couple of minutes down the hill from SH and the stadium. Great food and some outstanding German-style beverages served by the liter.
  7. I do not recognize your authority to deem threads official. However, I do recognize my own authority. Therefore, this thread is hereby deemed official.
  8. If SH was playing Red Boling Springs, you'd find an excuse to pick against them...
  9. The only people I saw predicting a blowout were DB people. Those familiar with the rivaly know that this is always a close game.
  10. True. But studies have shown that engaging in music increases the development of neural pathways in the brain that, in turn, increases cognitive development. Here is an article I found in a quick search: http://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2013/11/25/13music.h33.html It is rather fascinating if your into that kind of thing. Back to football. Go Wildcats (SH guy....had to)
  11. Smokey the Bear if memory serves. Edit: Batman beat me to it.
  12. Well......I'm really not trying to give you a hard time, because you're one of the more sane posters on hear. However, most schools will have a band program even without a football team. In reality, marching band is only a small part of what bands do, but it is the most visible. For example, one of the top band programs in Chattanooga, Chatt School for the Arts and Sciences, has no football team.
  13. Actually, that is false. Absurdly so. Google "Benefits of Music Education" and in less than a minute you will find enough studies to fill an airport hangar documenting how students in music programs (not just band) perform significantly better in academics and or more prepared for life after high school. Not to mention the all of those who make a career in music, either as a performer, teacher, or otherwise. I'm not saying music is the only extra-curricular that does this (athletics have their own benefits, as well), nor am I trying to hijack the thread. But to say that football is the only reason that band exists is pure foolishness.
  14. Elizabethton always plays SH tough and the game's are usually close contests, except for last year. The cyclones haven't beaten SH since 2009, and I don't see that changing this year. Didn't EHS lose a starting RB for the season?
  15. Nov. 3, 2006 - 5A Playoffs 1st Round William Blount (6-4) - 13 DB (10-0) - 10
  16. Nov. 7, 2008 - 5A Playoffs 1st Round McMinn County (6-4) - 28 DB (10-0) - 24
  17. Nov. 6, 2009 - 6A Playoffs 1st Round Maryville - 41 DB - 0
  18. Lay off the acid, man.... No Science Hill person has ever called Carter the best in the area. The All-American City was awarded to the Tri-Cities, including Bristol and Johnson City Maroon and Grey smeared all over just sounds nasty. Besides, if you go look through the records of team and individual championships, you'll find that DB and SH have very comparable records.
  19. That was my point, by what's his doofus was too giddy about the alleged DB recruiters working the streets in New York. At any given SH sporting event, I usually run into enough Eastman employees to run a full crew. The same can probably said for Bristol, Elizabethton, and other area schools.
  20. No force on Earth or in Heaven will ever cause me to buy a house in Kingsport...
