  1. Situtions occur sometimes that separations of schools is the rightthing to do and this may very well be the case here. Only those posting will really know. Does seem unusual unless a school is opening.
  2. The schools know what the TSSAA are taking in. They sign off on the amount. Schools sign off on the percentage taken. TSSAA does have some oversight. Can't believe Director does all of this by his lonely self.
  3. Huh. Maybe a school that needs to look at his own coaching staff or maybe it wasn't a principal.
  4. Your choice, your topic and as you said your AD and your principal.
  5. brb, then if you don't think enough about it to go to bat about it instead of posting assumed name posts then chill. It means nothing.
  6. Saturday has been tried before over the years and vetoed. Clifford on this site was an advocate of that but no chance. Without a doubt, no question, this is the TSSAA and the High Schools responsibility and its their decision to think about. We helped just to put something together, nothing else. They monitor this site. There ae some things wrong with this that many fans will not agree with, and the TSSAA will find some issues wrong with it. They likely do not think its broken. I stop here. They run this and regardless of .what anyone thinks, they do it well. This exercise does not on my part reflect that their work is a Joke. Thats the quickest way i can think for anyone not to even look at this. There are some with the TSSAA that look at this site. If I were the one who started this site, I would edit the word off and use something else. Your choice. Good luck the rest of the way if you are asked.
  7. Yep, very familiar with that except pool is 2 out of 3 in most places. Three out of five would be more acceptable and more consistant. This tournament averaged 4 games a match and took some 2 hrs to play in three arenas. Pool would have to be played in three arenas. Thats going to take a full day or more AT two hrs a match with two matches going on at the same time, doesnt sound like that will work out with 3 out of 5. DII only had 8 schools with two Divisions. Woops, just re read your example. I don't think 3 would be acceptable in pool play but thats someone elses call. Some would be uneasy with that but who knows. Might think that watering it down too much. Yep recalculated and it very well might work but someone else might need to double check 3 or 5 ,if TSSAA is interested in looking at this. Pool and Tournament may need to be spread out a little to have finals on the last day. Might work , Last day a little messy. Fans and teams wouuld stay in Boro Tuesday nite and Wednesday Nite minimum.
  8. BRB, I'm glad you feel like that. But I do get the impression football does pay more bills for them than any sport so they have to be careful of the revenue from the sport. I believe they do care. SShs- this is an interesting senario and under your proposal would this be a single or double elimination format Tournament, not the pool Play but the Tournament Play.
  9. BRB, just a small question. I assumed you went to the matches. I would say the TSSAA does regard the girls and their play. You know what you and your wife paid to go. Would you spend an extra $150 to go to the Tournament( and that would be minimum} but you might see a couple of extra matches? Just asking for information. SShs, So likely the conditions might be 2 out of three pool play to seed and then start the Tournament, 3-4 in the afternoon Start the Tournament and the Rest of the Tournament would take the same time. Would you suggest that this be single or double elimination Tournament.
  10. If I might ask another question which someone else might ask also. Would this lengthen, in your opinion, the ammount of time spent at the Tournament, the cost for officials and the cost to schools. TSSAA seem to be cost conscious and for some schools uder the current conditons, two schools in Division IA, IAA and 1AAA are free to home Wednesday if the want. And go to school or whatever is appropriate. You being in an outlying area of the State would that be a problem to the parents or players if they stayed an extra night in the Boro even if it also would cost money for the entourage of TSSAA officials that would have to be there. As I remember that was an issue. SSHS. Also renting Murphy an etra day was included in some difficulties as i remember. All of these were issues with some plan and using Murphy, entra officials and staff, increasing ticket prices, running into a conflict with Friday Night Football officials since some VB officials were football officials and I am sure some other things brought on the issues of compromise. Unless you have relatives in the Boro and can mooch off of them an etra day a family can spend with the extra ticket prices due to needing murphy longer and food and lodging for an extra day, a little bit of money which for fairness may be good and help the Murfreesboro economy also. And for a three game format for pool play might be doubtful for a Tennessee State Tournament. Don't know what you think but thats a little much.
  11. Not sayin good or bad, what size pools and how do you designate who is in them? SShs. Those were some of the issues before in State and maybe because, as today, the play is already assigned by rule in the TSSAA guideline without any seeding or is it?
  12. I think it was beause it was the one the schools decided on overall and they had their reasons, Someteme you might ask the Bearden principal. Sometimes the over all picture is not known to the rest of us but the last time i remember things being changed, it was changed a number of different ways in a few years and that really gave the wrong idea. it was almost as bad as the football senario which makes everyone look dumb and nobody is ever satisfied, they will look at it again, talk to the schools and see if they want to stay overnight in the Boro one more night and if they say no, they'll look at something else. They are flexible but don't want to look dumb I suppose. Football has broken them of that. Your school had a good year and I followed them from afar and was impressed. Good Job.
  13. I appreciate your opinion and you've been there before. A classic example of two people talking around each other in 80 posts in 4 years. So I wont misunderstead again, and I am serious, where did you coach at some years ago. Not your name please.
  14. Coming out of the bushes atcha. These are some good points but as far as Schools not having the right to play whoever they want, is like schools not having some autonamy on getting Tournament slots filled or having the responsibility to help make their student/Athletes better. Thats the responsibility and the mission of the schools. That was one argument the private schools made when they wanted to be in another Division. That is the argument the Coach at Ravenwood has been making in the newspaper as to why Williamson Volleyball is so good. If you would look, many of those same schools play each other the same ammount of time as the 'Woods" play. As you have stated and I can understand, it did not allow Wilson to get to the STATE. Pretty frustrating I can be sure.
  15. I'll answer your comment with a comment and even go back further. 71, you came on this site in Oct 77. Why did you even bother? You've posted 80 times in 4 years mostly around Tournament time and a little before. This has nothing to do with the format but all of the format changes that were trying to be implemented happen the couple of years before that. Were you involved? Why, when CoachT started this site in 1990's, put his money and time into a hobby he says, for promotion, were you involved? His story is well documented and he did it for a reason. I agree that you may have quietly done your thing but many others did the same thing, some for selfish motives and some just because they loved it. It was a good sport but not going anywhere and after all girls basketball was the thing along with AAU. Sorry Volleyball was good but no structure. CT did one thing along with the computer, it gave the sport structure and visability along with a way to provide quick information, whether you like it or not. After all, how many newspapers knew that scores duing that time and earlier, even existed. Not many and if it was there, it was a blurb that was hard to read. My posts, uninteresting?? Score detail does get that way but color along with it does not. And opinion only brings out those who have a contrary opinion, not necessarily the same opinion. Why would you want that any way? Coacht found a need and generated a vehicle and in Volleyball, found Pageman, a stats guy who had some newspaper background and a personality. He traveled the State, and loved the game. Not sure in the early 2000's where you were but not on the State scene. It was obviosu to PM that the sport had no definite structure and everyone just did their own thing. One side of the State knew nothing about the other side or their players, coachs and very little about their fans. Evolving from this came an expanded Coacht with over 90000 members, partisons, players and fans. I take it you are not a fan of CT. In some way it took away some of your space. CT is still trying to find its difinitive nature and some of us have taken it where its not as it has been started and have gotten into the virtual area of untouchable space which is not, in times past, not been the norm. Its just like changing the way the format used to be, and why did we try this. Just like today politically, change does not mean success. Smetimes it means destructive, costly failure. Coacht did and has put visibility on all of those things because with help of fans nothing is sacred. I say all of this to say all of this could have been done and the changes made in the game without a vehicle like Coacht is living in the past. Since 2007 when you came aboard, it hasn't been of much inbterest to you. You did try to get aboard. And that is what is happening here with this subject. Somebody says there is a problem and its being discussed. From a readers point of view, I sensed an overkill from those who have just worked hard in Murphy Center to put on. arguably, the best performance has had in a STate Championship. They didn't select the format. They just made it look the best they could. And I would say, Chill. Somebody is going to analyze this with what has been said and nake it better. And as far as Coacht and his part, you have been an important part and after all its just information, if you don't like it turn it off. Or participate to make it better. And to my friemd Clubisforus. This is a High School Volleyball Site as I have been told and if it changes, someone will say its been changed. Thats way beyond my pay grade.
  16. 71, an opinion, like yours. Saw it visabily. Can recount what has happened?
  17. The format is the issue and I haven't seen there has not been a continued effort to tweek the problem such as even televising the finals, putting coaches who are color commentors to spice up the presentation. By saying that its over meant the results of what has gone on the last 3 days has concluded but does not mean that the TSSAA will not try to find a better way I think. We have 5 Champions and it does not diminish what has happened by some great players and coaches and officials in any way. Their viewers outnumber the rest of the viewers significantly.
  18. That certainly is a good point if it were total true but no one has been kept from introducing opinions except if the post got away from what this site was originally set up to be, High School Volleyball. It did veer away from that quite a few times and a number of times things were mentioned that sat there for a while with no response and rather than let the died subject or subjects dominate the site, we just moved on to something else. In no way was Coacht or Play4Keeps involved with that, it was a way I thought to keep the site more interesting. There was no doubt, in my mind, that there was a shortage of viewpoints as sometimes it was forgotten the demographics of who mostly were looking in to the sit. And its just like why I am having to answer this, it really has nothing to do with the topic and could take us away from important issues and the history of and how we got to the format to start with. It was because, my opinion, baack during that time, a lot of fansw were searching for ways to get the sport publicized. Interest had beeen waning and the game was not widely understood. Some thought a seearch for aq better format was the answer and others thought or many other things like the times the tournaments were held was a problem. There was a genuine effort, IMO, by the TSSAA to acknowledge and help the situation and this is why so many formats were tried. It may have looked disorganized but is seemed to me a genuine effort.
  19. I'm not really sure why this discussion exists right now. This has happened. The Tournament is over, finished. What happened, the TSSAA, like it does everything else, ran all of this by the member schools and it was accepted so they did it. There was no complaint. It was agreed and is over. Now the subject has been brought up and for next year the TSSAA can present their thoughts again. The schools have a chance to redo in or recommend it but they need to do it right now. The issue of private schools should be the same way. But when its done, it should be done as part of the classification discussion.. and left alone until the next reclassification. The schools will vote to how they want it. But when ots done, its done. I like it the way it is because the other way gets things finshed to soon. The extra game at the end, I have no thoughts on. I that willts just an extra game and likely will increase costs. Schools decusion. Same as with private schools which I think is the wrong thing to do but if that is how it works would not oppose it. There will always be a large group of A class private schools. How its handled, its handled that way. no delay and the decision may be the same as it is now, an option. But it is a decision.
  20. This is an opinion by BigRedBuck from somewhere around Bearden expressing his opinion on the STATE Tournament Format. His points are made and for those from the TSSAA looking in there are some good points about his point. We also appreciate his mention that "the man' Coacht runs a good Forum not only here but with everything he tries to do, he does know the excitable nature of High School Sports and all of us realize that this is a privledge the way we handle posting on this site and need to be careful how we handle it. Thanks.
  21. Well thats an issue to but I would like to ask BRB a question so I know who the conversation is with but not by name. Are you a parent at Bearden or are you just a fan or are you the Principal or are ytou a fan of another school. Where do you fit in that group?
  22. BRB, you have made your point and gotten some opinions. We have got a couple of matches left. Lets finish it out and then come back and get his response. I would say he's pretty busy right now. Lets not rush the answer and let him think and respond.
  23. Memphis, Knoxville, Nashville and Chattanooga. If you know someone at the school have them look at this post. hate to say this but if the pictures have not been taken, it likely will be Monday.; Someone in these cities that knows someone at the school, notify them, The DII schools had matches at the end of last week and had to travel and likely no one has had time to read or send. Please notify the 4 schools.
  24. A suggestion, Edit the Subject of this post and at the front put in caps, ALERT.
