If you think the state titles are meaningless due to the number of teams getting them, the next time your team makes the playoffs you could request them to forfeit. Why play in a meaningless postseason?
There are quite a few more schools, and schools playing football in general, than in 1992 which was the last year of the traditional three-class system. I think there is justification for more than three classes. Five classes spread out teams too much in the regular season regions. I wish they'd have given four a shot, for football, basketball, baseball and softball.
By my count the cutoffs would have been Cascade at 498, Greenbrier at 868, Hamilton at 1341 with those larger in 4A. Other sports, with more participating, would have had slightly different cutoffs, and I think that was another problem, trying to get the districts the same in all sports.
Meaningless is your choice of words, not mine. Watered down would be more of my choice. Too many champions lesson the import of winning the state. 4 would be better.
