  1. I remember very well the excitement I felt after a full offseason in the weight room before my sophmore year. I did the math and thought it totally reasonable to assume a 500lb bench press was in order as a senior, based on the rate of growth I had seen. Oh, how foolish we can be. Not even close.
  2. I think those are all good things you listed. And I think an administration committed to success on the field makes them all possible for the long haul. Good post.
  3. I think 80 pounds in one year is far from normal. To be a healthy gain it'd have to be accompanied by 4-5" and lots of muscle. Typically, biggest gains for a kid who works out hard all through high school will be made between freshman and sophmore years. In that span, a huge offseason might look more like 40 lbs.
  4. On some level, every offense is dictated by the people you have running it. A spread QB isn't all you need to run the spread. You need blockers as well as people to catch a pass. But that's true of any offense. But could you run a pass oriented spread with a kid who can't throw? No. Could you run a spread option attack with a QB who carries a 5.6 second pro shuttle time? No. It all plays together. Some offenses cater to some talents. For a two back lead blocker style that it sounds like you are describing, you have to have that lead blocker and a line that can get man on man movement at the line of scrimmage. I would say the spread is just as much a gimmick as the wishbone, run and shoot, pro I, single back zone.... You get my point.
  5. One small correction, Dickson County did not score on Centennial's 1st team defense. Field goals in that scrimmage were mulligans. 10 play series with an option to kick on play 11 for practice.
  6. Counteveryrep, careful you must be in your praise of darth Woodward. The dark side trick you it can. May the fork be with you. Are you one who's not impressed with Coach Woodward? I won't pretend to know all that goes on everywhere but I do have personal, first hand experience with Coach Woodward and that experience has formed my opinion that he is the real deal. A great teacher, motivator and runs a tight ship without being unrelatable. Just my opinion but I'd love to play for him.
  7. Coach Woodward came to Antioch from Ravenwood and before that he was at Centennial. He was the OC at Centennial and I believe he held the same position at Ravenwood. A fantastic coach.
  8. What time period was Mose Phillips at Centennial?
  9. I just saw this thread and clicked to see what it was about. It appears to no longer be about the young man for which it was named, however. I watched the YouTube clips and they really look great. He looks like he has exceptional strength, especially in his hands, and I'd say at least adequate feet to play at the D1 level. I really like him as on offensive lineman and he looks like he finishes blocks well, keeps his feet and plays with great balance. There are so many factors that go into recruiting but I dont see any reason why his play on the field wouldn't be good enough for the top level, be it Sun Belt or SEC. Props to the kid, looks like he's worked hard.
