  1. Congrats - what's planned for the money?
  2. The infamous rebuttal to anyone questioning the officiating. Surprised it took 3 pages to get there.
  3. I think there is and his name is Mike Parker and possibly also Ken Mara who has done the NCAA finals several times. Both are extremely knowlegeable, but there are not enough folks wanting to take the job to be able to weed out all but the best.
  4. Terrible blow for Vince. Welcome to Baylor's world this year. Happens to some good kids every year and still breaks my heart for each of them.
  5. No clue what the plan might be concerning D1 / D2 mat seperation, but I hope its none. I drop some fairly significant coin to watch what I'm hoping will be the best wrestling in the state, D1 or D2 makes no difference to me no more than the color of the singlet. If its pushed to opposite ends of the gym, then I've got to chose between the 2. Maybe there are a majority of haters out there who think only a D1 or D2 wrestler is worthy of their viewing?
  6. 2bl - I myself don't make the coorelation of better officiating = better wrestling. From my experience, I'll place the better TN officials against officials I've seen all over the country. There are plenty of officials that could use some improvement everywhere. By its nature, officiating can feed big egos and we all have our opinions of which officials have too much desire to be seen and become part of the match. Since every association is usually begging for folks to officiate, I doubt they have the talent pool such that they are letting officals go either. Basically, we get what we get. Would you not agree that the majority of fans don't know really good officiating anyway?
  7. As for the duals, the venue was an improvement for sure. The backed seats are quite comfortable. Restroom was clean. Out of popcorn and diet coke at 10:30 am on Saturday was my only complaint but that is easily fixed. Its actually too big for the current interest level of the duals IMHO. One thing I would suggest to improve the mat layout would be to spit the mats down the center, pushing them closer to each side of the bleachers. This would allow the teams to be on opposite sides of the mats which is always a better situation. Shouldn't be any issues with blocking views from the other side of the gym as the fans for each mat have plenty of space to get on their side of things. I would also put the D2 and D1AAA tourny on adjacent mats and push all the mats to one end of the gym to better fill the bleachers as I think it adds to the excitement compared to having the fans so spread out. As for the individuals, I predict lots of folks are going to be very disappointed in the venue (not disappointed in the folks running the tourney). The parking was pretty much consumed for the duals crowds which I would estimate to be 1/10th of the individuals crowd? Are they planning to have remote parking with bus shuttle to the venue? The layout of the bleachers is very flat compared to the steeper bleachers at UTC, pushing the fans farther away from the action. Add this to the floor area being both considerably wider and longer making the fans even farther away. You will truely need binoculars unless you plan to run from one bleacher to another to watch your favorite wrestler. Now I agree with everyone that UTC were fools who did not appreciate the free advertising they got for potential future students and deserved to lose the tourny for not properly reserving the annual weekend and for the food/security natzis, but I'm pessimistic that anyone will be satisfied with the new venue. Hey TSSAA - Cheaper isn't always better.
  8. I'll 2nd what 2blLeg said concerning false starts (not sure I observed an unusual amount of stalling calls). A good wrestling official is like a good waiter at a restaurant - takes care of things without being a bother with the best ones being almost invisible. I'm shocked at the amount of attention being paid to the starting procedure. Unless one wrestler is doing something to gain an advantage, then why all the nonsense? I saw officials attempting to freeze (delay the whistle for a couple of seconds after the wrestlers were properly set). I didn't recognize the officials so maybe there were trained by the famous Barney Fife official of middle TN who loves to draw attention to himself and away from the wrestlers. My other officiating beef was calling stalemates too quickly on scrambles and short offense from neutral. That's an understandable call that can be attributed to an offical who is not familiar with higher levels of wrestling technique so he doesn't recognize a wrestler is on his way to a score, its just takes a little while to get there.
  9. Don't know why you would. DII- Baylor beats Ryan in the finals, CBHS beats McCallie for 3rd. DI-another thrill a minute, nail biting tournament -Bradley easy. I guess you could make it interesting on the DI-A-AA level though. YnotME the Renegade contender says CBHS defeats FRHS to win the D2 tourney as the tribe have too many on the injured reserve. Hope I'm wrong. The D1 finals may set a record for fastest completion time ever if Bradley follows their pattern of forfeiting out after they have secured the team victory. Haven't seen anyone close to them this year.
  10. Your right 2blLeg. The problem lies with the fact that the blue squad has such a storied history of the forfeit that folks have come to expect them. Also you must consider that great success brings great expectations, for Duncan and everyone else. Sort of wrestling's double edged sword.
  11. Well in spite of all the injuries, the tribe went on the warpath and ended up with the blue scalps. I wondered if the move to Monday would affect attendance - NO. Another great crowd! Some suspect wrestling by some as the nerves of being on the big stage always rattles a few. YnotME the Renegade offers his thanks to the 27 dogs in the race who provided an evening that beat the pants off of 24 (TV show on Monday nights). As for my predictions.....I'm a pretender at 215 - didn't see that one comin. But like I stated with Silberman, you don't get better at wrestling watching from the bleachers. Maybe Helton paid the price of spectating for 2/3 of the season? Either way, congrats to the young Satterfield for capitalizing on his opportunity. As for the Ward and weight talk, word amongst the tribe was that Ward had the worst looking ringworm ever seen therefore no use in making weight as he wouldn't have been able to wrestle anyway. One word for that - Lamisil I'm giving myself a pass at 119 as I can't be held accountable for warm up injuries. Zack might want to consider taping his ankle prior to warm ups in the future? I knew that the tribe wanted the Silberman / Manley matchup and would insert either Bryant or Deckleman if the blue tried to bump away. I figured it would be Bryant since he's already in hs, but again I can't be held accountable for warm up injuries which forced the use of Bryant at 121. Someone please explain to me why the blue would allow Hooker to avoid Dostor? With Hooker at 135, blue gets the pin with Dostor picking up the pin at 140. Would Martin at 135 not have been favored over Reece bumping up from 130? If the blue keeps Hooker at 140 and coach him up against Dostor, then the blue takes home the scalps with the warmup injury and the 215 surprise. Seems illogical to not place the outcome of the match on the backs of your best horses against their best horses - but what do I know? Cate / Clements was close and exciting, but Cate can wrestle much better. Clements has been hurt so he may have more game himself. Should be more fun down the road. Duncan didn't have enough fire water for the 3rd period. Wonder what happened as his gas was good against the Luster kid in Atlanta? With a miracle and a prayer, Wrestle90's call of a close one happened but alas their lost opportunity for victory lies at the feet of the blue coaching staff who didn't believe their top dogs could get the job done against the red's best. That's YnotMe the Renegade's take - the contender. P.S. check out the match pictures on the Chattanoogan site and see if you can spot coacht's tempermental poster.
  12. Real shame its not on Sunday so no one would miss due to the tssaa state duals. Go Mocs.
  13. wow! I must be out of the loop. 103- is Connel wrestling in place of Elsea? Is Hayes out for sure? Is Hooker dropping? I guess we will find out if YnotME the Renegade is a pretender or a contender this evening.

  15. C'mon longhorn. No problem with being bashed, but at least get your facts right. Read my quote "The majority of the tribe either have parents or older siblings who have graduated from Baylor". Didn't say all the kids listed were alumni's kids. I stand corrected if any of these kids don't have a family tie to Baylor. How many blue kids have a tornado tie? Point is made and valid. I do like the name though....YnotME the Renegade Red185 - I'm pullin hard for the tribe, so to me I've got a dog in the race. Like almost everyone else, I'm not weighing in nor straping my boots on so I guess in reality there are only about 28 dogs in the race? Either way, I plan to enjoy the race.
  16. Cmon longhorn, there's no need to question CubCat's honesty - he really does frequent those watering holes. ghouse - you've got my commitment to provide post match commentary although it can never match the level of detail BB Branton will provide on http://www.chattanoogan.com. I'll attempt to add the details BB won't include. What you really need is BigRedBlooded to show back up with his written tallent. You can also watch it from Memphis as the blue intends to stream it live on the web.
  17. Buck - The tribe will likely weigh in 5 wrestlers between 160 and 171. None of those 5 currenlty know who the chiefs have chosen to participate in the war party on Friday. CubCat Brown got his info the same way he always does, he pulled it out of his crack.....research team that is. As for CubCat and his toughness, he's all talk. Even he will admit he's a (want to be) lover not a fighter. CubCat uses this site as a social networking tool, chumming the waters for unsuspecting ladies who can be lured in by wit (be careful wrestle90...very careful).
  18. Why would I (or anybody else) want any? You want to discuss the big match then bring it.
  19. 2blLeg - you've got to be kidding. The majority of the tribe either have parents or older siblings who have graduated from Baylor (Eady, Watson, Manley, Hayes, Dostor, Cate, Bullard, Shufford, Ferguson, Helton). Besides Clements, which of the blue boys have a family tie to the Tornados?
  20. Cmon 90, get your mind out of the gutter. Since when did "hanging" with someone "insinuate" anything beyond social interaction (watching a movie, playing monopoly, poetry reading, or whatever else goes on at the blue bastion of integrety). Everyone knows CubCat Brown thrives in the gutter, but now you? You continue throughout this thread to hurle personal attacks and insinuations of cheating by the tribe. You accuse others of being "immature" and when they point out you should look in the mirror before throwing around the immature label, well then they're just mean and personal. I hope your not holding your breath and stomping your feet. Once again, cowgirl up and state your claims of the tribe cheating. You can't because it doesn't happen. They keep beating you guys fair and square with half the number of young men in the school from which to assemble a team.
  21. No stooping - the truth shall set you free. Again - you keep hinting about the tribe's "indiscretions" so cowgirl up and spill the beans or take your ball and go home.
  22. Immaturity...Immaturity.... you'd think I was the 22 year old attempting to hang with a bunch of high school boys? You keep alluding to the tribe's indiscretions....why don't you cowgirl up and speak your mind? Call a spade a spade since its now clear your not a puppet and speak only for yourself.
  23. Could that be a result of a highly social college experience?
