  1. Although a little biased, I do feel like Lawrence County could give some teams trouble when it comes to tournament time. Am I saying that they are a lock for the championship? No, but Shaen Clark's Wildcat teams are always notorious for being scrappy and full of hustle, and this year's team is no exception. They played Columbia and Tullahoma very close for their only two district losses so far. Heath Mansfield is having a fantastic season for the Wildcats as well. Also, the fact that the Tournament is being hosted in Lawrenceburg will give Lawrence Co. a huge advantage, as Ralph Benson Memorial is a gym with a great atmosphere, and a very tough place to play
  2. Gotta give credit to Summertown they beat Lawrence County handily, but in the Wildcats defense, we did lose every starter from arguably the best team ever to come out of Lawrenceburg last year. Typical Summertown fan though, always complaining about officiating. When there was a foul, they called it, bottomline. Why not try to congratulate your team on a victory instead of downgrade their performance. I'm sure Coach Trotter doesn't need hometown heroes like you to tell his team what they did wrong. When the Wildcats find their stroke from behind the 3point arc, things should get better
  3. Congrats to Mcminn Co. Although this was a very intense game, both teams displayed a great deal of character. Well, there were a couple of students in the Cherokee student section who were very politely telling us we were number one if you know what I mean. But, other than that it was a great game all the way around. Here's my only statement about the whole officiating thing: 10 LC fouls to Mcminn's 3 fouls at one point in the second half. (a little one sided maybe?!?!) That being said, Mcminn Co. still played well enough to win the game. There were times when I asked myself if the Cherokees were ever gonna miss a shot! Congrats to both teams and good luck to the Cherokees in the BORO. BTW, that #10's from Lawrence County's name is Trent Garland, and if you think he's good at basketball, you should see him play football!
  4. Great game played by both teams last night. Lawrence Co. made some mistakes in the second half that they could not overcome. Mciminn seemed to carry the momentum the entire second half. Although I hardly ever like to complain about officiating, I will try to bring a fact into this argument instead of simply an opinion. At one point in the second half, the foul count in the game was 10 fouls for Lawrence County to 3 for Mcminn County. Keep in mind, that this was before the Wildcats used the strategy of fouling late in the game. This did not win the game for the Cherokees, but it could have factored in somewhat.
  5. Dad times Five, haven't heard much from you around the Lawrence County message boards. Hope all is going well. As you stated, the boys did leave around one o' clock this afternoon and will spend the night at Cleveland tonight. There will also be one, possibly two pep buses departing from Lawrenceburg around 12 or 1 tomorrow afternoon who will be ready to watch a great game. I think it is also worth noting that as previously stated this is the first trip to substate for both teams, which will hopefully make some for some passionate, emotional basketball. One more thing, Is Mcminn County very large down low or are they more of a run n' gun type team? I think either way Lawrence County should be able to adapt and eventually execute their gameplan.
  6. Didn't see much talk about either teams on the message boards so I guess I'll try to get some chatter going. Lawrence County will travel to Athens, Tn (maybe?) to take Mcminn County Monday. Don't know really anything about Mcminn County, maybe people can provide some insight on their team. Lawrence County has a long trip ahead of them. This being said, Lawrence County will bring a great crowd. This is the first sub-state game for Lawrence County in 40+ years, so our community is very excited and proud for the Wildcats. Hopefully some folks from east Tennessee can shed some light on Mcminn County.
  7. Can't wait for this game tomorrow night at Lavergne. I'm sure Riverdale being relatively close to Lavergne will bring a huge fan base, and expect many Lawrence County fans to brave the hour and a half drive to Lavergne in support of the Lady Cats. These teams did meet in the first game of the season, where Riverdale won by around 20 points. It should be a very tight game next time around though. Can't speak for the Lady Warriors, but the Lady Wildcats seem to be hitting their stride at just the right time. Don't wanna make any crazy predictions, but it is very possible that the momentum from this win could propel the winner all the way to the state championship.
  8. Fc Rebel 22, I agree with you about Columbia. Looking at their team, they obviously have great size and athleticism. They should definitely have won more games than they did this year. That being said, they could be dangerous during tournament time, if they come together as a team. I also think either Lincoln County or Franklin County will pull off an upset of somebody in the Tournament. (just hope to goodness it's Lawrence County lol). Both of these teams just strike me as the type of teams that are capable of rising up to their competition level and beating a team better than them.
  9. Just wondering... Where has everyone gone that was posting on this topic?? It's been two weeks without a post. I would like to congratulate both Lawrence County boys and girls for wrapping the regular season district championship Saturday night, as well as remaining undefeated going into the last district game of the season. Another shout-out to Lawrence County's Trent Garland for scoring his 1'000th point Tuesday night at Columbia.
  10. Now you're making a little more sense. Sorry I misread your previous post. Might have overreacted a little bit. Yes, Tullahoma did play us very close in the last game, and we do still have to travel there this year. But, don't read too much into the away game. Tullahoma isn't exactly a basketball town, and do not have the home advantage that they do in football or baseball. We play Columbia tomorrow weather permitting, so hopefully we can show up and play well. I guess I see what you're saying about parity now, which should make for an interesting tournament, with a couple of upsets and such.
  11. Everyone has seemed to forget this fact while talking about "parity". LAWRENCE COUNTY IS 5-0 IN THE DISTRICT. No one has said this. How can you not say that they are the front runner right now???? I do not know how they will fare in the region tourney against the Siegels and Riverdales, but we are talking 8AAA on this thread. HEY FC REBEL 22: If you want to have a knowledge bowl against Lawrence County to back up your bashing of our academic system, I'm game. Four of our 8 A games were in county rivals that are HUGE money games for both schools. So actually yes FC REBEL 22, we were studying our economics and geography when we scheduled these games. Siegel took it to Lawrence County????? I remember a one point game that came down to a missed last second shot. That game could have gone either way.
  12. Okay... so maybe Shelbyville wasn't the test for the Lady Cats i thought it would be.
  13. The Lady Cats travel to Shelbyville Tuesday night to take on the Eaglettes. This is the first game between the two this season. We should be able to tell a lot more about this team after this game. Lawrence Co. does benefit from a weak district this year. All that being said, they are a very good team. They can run with a team, and execute a half court offense well also. The weak schedule is not really Lawrence Co.'s fault, this is simply just a down year for the girls District 8aaa. Hopefully this won't be a problem, as they will face very good teams in the region tournament.
