Any predictions or upsets?

Hmmm sounds pretty interesting to hear about the officials every year during and after the state tournament. However they only use 1 from West Tennessee and the rest are from Nashville... seems pretty fair right lol same stuff every year but NOBODY will ever change it!

I have a strong feeling that 195 Johnson will not place or place 5th or 6th. He can hardly go 6 minutes. 145 cockman will finish top 6 and 113 cannon will be back as a placer as well

Yes it's been great watching Moore develop to a big stud for Arlington over the years! Yes Cockman is a very talented wrestler, not taking anything away from him at all but as we all know with the sport of wrestling you have to go to big time tournaments when you have talented kids like him and Arlington studs..never helps talented gifted wrestlers to wrestle little tournaments where other studs from the state aren't wrestling at! You always want to be challenged even if that means taking a loss against better opponents! Cockman and those other wrestlers we've mentioned will def upset some kids next weekend! Gonna be fun to watch!

MemphisTiger your right this year hard to find any decent matchups other than what everybody already knows will be winners of most of weight classes. For freshman of the year I would have to give it to Artilles from cville or the young kid whose never wrestled from white station Geiser. Brand new to the sport of wrestling and has only a couple losses at the beginning of the season! OW for the season I would have to give to cannon! Bumping up weights to 113 or 120 and dominating both weights even outside of memphis! Coach of the year I def think Coach Shirley should get it! Talk about someone going into a school and restarting the program pretty much and has several studs and will def be the top team in memphis in my opinion in public school! He drives all of those kids to every match and tourney and those kids love being around him! Not saying other coaches aren't loved by their wrestlers but Shirley situation with Kingsbury is complete different! Glad to be part of the Memphis wrestling community but it has to grow a lot compared to over half the teams forfeit weight classes! And we have to get East program going again cause couple years ago seemed like they had a football team with lots of guys and now nothing! Congrats to all the Memphis teams for what they have done so far this season!

Who will be champ and runner up in each weight class? How many go to state from region 8 is it still 3 or 4?

When will the state finally realize how pointless this little 4 team match truly is?

Can someone with tssaa please explain to me why in the world Wrestling managers don't receive free admission yet for some crazy reason they think cheerleaders should??? Is it just me or does this not seem logical at all? Managers are def more important to coaches and the team then having cheerleaders there...

Seems like a good reason for them to split the public school division!!!

Region 8 finishes tonight at Houston

Kingsbury is the team to watch out for... they may not finish in the top 2 this year but I expect them to be at state duals next year.. have a few studs that will have quite a few upset of kids from other big schools come individual state... been a great team to watch and Coach Nelson Shirley has done an unbelievable job getting Kingsbury back on the mat after several down years... great job to him and then young Men and women he has.. Congrats Kingsbury and Coach Shirley!!!!

Tssaa is better off staying out of things... already bad enough they've split division 1 into smaller state divisions!! Just my opinion..

TD2 interesting you bring of D2 giving participation medals out... wasn't this the reason why the split of aa and aaa recently? I mean they just watered D1 even more then before from dual and traditional state... I hope in my life time that they will at least have a d1 vs d2 wrestle each other in a dual to see the outcome every year.. I know it will never happen but wishful thinking lol....

Curious who did these rankings? I think they are off a little and how do you have 2 kids from same school in same weight class ranked???

I'm not saying there aren't guys that are great refs there however. Just like with all sports easy to blame the refs all the time.. I've coached umpired refed and played sports all my life and none of it is easy there is always 2 sides and 2 diff views.. And especially in wrestling when everybody is yelling he's pinned when your less than a foot looking at his shoulders knowing there a 3 inch gap in between happens every match tournament... I go back to argument of good ole brother system that also takes place looking at how many officials from diff regions get to go to state? None of its fair... I think they should rotate the state tourney and find a better place with showers or make the state bring in portable showers for the wrestlers which to me is more concerning then a possible bad call...

Cobra if refs suck in Tennessee so bad why don't you become a ref and be the best ref in the state? This can't be blamed on the ref at all it's a coaches decision and ref can't make a wrestler wrestle.. This is all to blame on the coward joke of a coach from Smyrna

This sounds like the exact same situation from the PA coach and then he was suspended from the state tourney for unethical coaching practices...

Shame cause those boys are natural athletes and wrestlers... Hate to say it but being around Memphis wrestling for over 14 years this is prob the worst I've seen Memphis as a far as teams not filling a entire team and not really having anybody who could really compete for a title or place.. Not saying we don't have good wrestlers but the Memphis wrestling community is way down.. Looking at the black horse this year for that tournament not to fill complete brackets is crazy

In all honesty. And I'm from Memphis and I go to plenty of games that honestly is packed gyms and most times I'm the only white guy in the gym and maybe 1 official. And we can go back and forth about recruiting kids for sports all day long but reality it's sports... If you can possibly help a kid in poverty who has talent and a possible future in playing sports then let him go to another school where he will get noticed and may have a little bit better education to possibly help his life in the long run..nothin worse then holding these kids because most of them are already struggling with being poverty lack of education lack of parental involvement... We should be trying to help these kids get off the streets and guide them in the right direction even if that means letting them go to diff open enrolled school

Should check out the video of Jaylen Fisher getting fouled which to me doesn't look like the Bartlett kid did it on purpose and Fisher goes absolutely crazy and then the fans went crazy as well...
