  1. Great recap. Real class was shown by both teams on the field. I want to also thank the Webb decision makers who allowed the ECS team and community to support their players on the field for what will be for many, their last game. You were gracious in giving us all the time we needed to console, congratulate and cry with one another. You kept the lights on for us until the end and we appreciate it.
  2. Neither Webb nor ECS "moved down" as you suggest. They "chose" not to play up based on their enrollment classification set by the TSSAA. For example Powell and Knox West are not "choosing" to play up with 6A nor should they with their enrollment. If you really want to get it right, get rid of all classifications like it used to be.
  3. Spurrier was close and Mr Sheppard is a good guess too. Houston's current Coach Wolf was the Ridgeway coach that rang up 11 on CAK.
  4. For those that do go way back you may be familiar with who the Ridgeway coach was at that time.....and the 11-2 score won't be a surprise.
  5. St. Agnes 2 St. George's 1
  6. from the commercial appeal newspaper St Mary's vs ECS: http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2010/sep/20/ecs-edges-st-marys-1-0-d2--west-region-matchup/
  7. The Commercial Appeal's Top 5 looks pretty good. Others that may creep in the top 5 during the year include Briarcrest, St. Mary's, ECS and White Station. GIRLS SOCCER TOP 5 School / Record / 1. St. Agnes / 0-0-0 / 2. Houston / 1-0-0 / 3. St. George's / 1-0-0 / 4. Collierville / 0-0-0 / 5. St. Benedict / 1-0-0 /
  8. From what I saw in the warm-up game before Memphis played at Mike Rose, ECS should be a contender as they beat Hutchison 4 - 1.
  9. .....and to Matthew Sims who was named Scholar-Athete of the Year from St. George's. Great soccer player as well as basketball and golfer and headed to University of Michigan.
  10. Which 3 that aren't on here would you recommend?
  11. Stevie outside of the teams in the division they must play, ECS beat Kingsbury (state qualifier); tied Collierville (state qualifier); tied White Station (state qualifier); and beat CBHS 2-1. The only state qualifier from their region they didn't play was MUS. Please supply their weak schedule for next year didn't know it was out yet.
  12. Predict Farragut, Centennial, Hendersonville and Collierville will advance Collierville over Bearden? Thats bold.. But i hope so! You're right I don't know what I was thinking. I've edited my prior post.
  13. I'll take a stab and say Farragut, Chattanooga Christian, MUS and St. Georges.
  14. Got to go with Boyd, CAK, CCS and Kingsbury to advance.
  15. Predict Farragut, Centennial, Hendersonville and Bearden will advance
  16. Webb vs JCS - predict JCS win St Georges vs ECS - too close to call, edge to St Georges as they haven't given up a goal in playoffs JP2 vs CBHS - predict CBHS win MUS vs McCallie - too close to call, edge to MUS as they haven't given up a goal in playoffs
  17. Similar to Bearden/Knoxville Catholic am predicting another close game, 1 - 2 goal differential either way but giving the nod to Knox Webb.
  18. USJ 3, FACS 2 in OT ECS 11, Fayette Academy 1
  19. This one is too close to call but will give the edge to Bearden at home.
  20. Briarcrest 1, MUS 1. Good result for Briarcrest heading into the playoffs.
  21. Depending on which Briarcrest team shows up, this could be a good one. MUS should win but you never know.
  22. From the Memphis Commercial Appeal: Gatorade honors ECS star Chandler Gagnon Junior named Tenn. soccer Player of Year By Jason Smith Friday, May 7, 2010 It had been nine years since a Memphis-area boys soccer player was named Gatorade Tennessee Boys Soccer Player of the Year. That drought ended Thursday when Evangelical Christian School junior midfielder Chandler Gagnon, one of the nation's top prospects in the Class of 2011, was named Tennessee's best player. "My dad, all throughout my soccer career, has told me not to expect things," Gagnon said. "He was like, 'You're probably not going to get this (award) because you're only a junior. They'll probably give it to a senior.' "So I wasn't thinking about it too much, and I was surprised when I got it. I mean, I was happy. I knew that I was capable of getting it, but I didn't know if I'd be able to or not." Gagnon, whom TopDrawerSoccer.com rates the No. 20 overall recruit in 2011, is the first Memphis-area player to win the award since Houston's Michael Vogel in 2001. Only five local players have earned the honor since its start in 1986-87. Gagnon is the first area junior to win the award. This season, the 6-2, 175-pound Gagnon has registered 16 goals and 17 assists in leading ECS to an 11-0-3 record and the No. 2 ranking in The Commercial Appeal's Dandy Dozen. "(Gagnon) is one of the most skilled and experienced players I've seen in many years," ECS soccer coach Ryan Lutz said. "His school, his teammates, my coaching assistants and I are very glad for him to have received this honor from Gatorade." Gagnon, who has a 3.06 GPA, is a member of the U.S. Youth Soccer 1993 Region III Olympic Development Program team. He's considering attending either SMU, Indiana, South Carolina, Tulsa or the University of Memphis. "You can put Chandler wherever," Tennessee Olympic Development Program coach Jon Baker said. "He's good in the air, a very confident player. As a center back, he can carry the ball forward. He's not just a guy who wins the ball and drives it forward. He's looking to carry it forward into play." Gatorade Winners Boys soccer players from Memphis-area schools who have been named Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year. 2009-10: Chandler Gagnon, ECS 2000-01: Michael Vogel, Houston 1998-99: Daryl Sattler, Houston 1993-94: Carey Talley, Houston 1991-92: Carter Fairley, CBHS Note: The first Gatorade soccer award was given in the 1986-87 season.
  23. This one is too close to call. Both teams have key players back. Going with Briarcrest on this one but it could go either way.
