  1. I understand how each team did or is doing this season. I'm just not sure GCA is content with the image they are winning with. Didn't say it was happening, just said that the rumor has persisted long after most have faded so I asked govolsknox if he had heard anything. I'm sure he probably will not divulge any info on the "T" especially with a title shot coming this weekend but I know he is very knowledgeable on CAK football. I agree it would be a strange thing if it were to happen & unless GCA is really committed to changing public image I can't imagine they would even be shopping.
  2. Yea, there's even a few losses to Jellico in the mix as late as 2000.
  3. I've heard rumblings about Bradley entertaining a move to Grace Christian. First couple times I heard it I just blew it off as late season rumors but it is persisting from some folks a little more knowledgeable than in the beginning. Any thing in the wind about it around your part of town?
  4. According to the article I've linked this is what LV will face: The three ejected Lookout Valley players will sit out the first game of the next sport they participate in, or the first football game of next season if they are not seniors. Childress added that according to the video, Lookout Valley had no other players come onto the field. "According to the video, it appeared as if some of the Lookout Valley players were the aggressors, but their coaches did a fantastic job of keeping their kids on the sideline," Childress said. "You could see that on video. That's where Coalfield coaches needed to do a better job of knowing their responsibility of keeping their kids on the sideline." 5. CYJacket is posting again, that can only mean Coalfield is having a good season & in the playoffs. Let 'em go to 5-5 or miss the playoffs & you won't have to worry about seeing him / her on here. CYJ = FWF.
  6. Heck @ 8:01 in the youtube video immediately after the fight you can hear someone on the Coalfield sideline yell "Let's do a drive by". Talk about a rough bunch, fighting ball boys & drive by chants. . . geez
  7. If you couldn't get by Boyd then you wouldn't have made it to the dance without a ticket anyway. I'm not sure Rockwood is better than either of these teams as well.
  8. Didn't claim to be Corso, maybe more Les Miles I posted something "like this" because it is a very obvious tip, if someone from Coalfield wants to find & fix it there it is, if SP wants to find it & Coalfield doesn't fix it then there ya go. I see no difference posting that vs. posting about a particular player for a given team being out due to injury, suspension, or ejection. I do not coach little league nor do I want to "play with the big boys". I also never claimed to be "so good at it" just had 3 game films given to me of which I only planned to watch 1. When I saw what I saw I watched the other 2. When it was present in all 3 I simply did the very basic math for the percentages. I didn't give the tip or even the person or persons tipping. As for Oz & Oneida breakdown first no one gave me any film on them & second this thread has nothing to do with either of those 2 teams. Interesting though how you first ridicule my assessment then ask for one for another game, what's the matter coach, can't figure out how to make the "machine" play the film's yourself :roflol:
  9. I am a fan & don't you ever watch film from teams you don't go watch? As for my "talents". . . is SP hiring?
  10. Had someone give me some video on Coalfield over the weekend they thought I'd enjoy watching. Just a hint to the Coalfield folks, your offense is tipping your pass plays. I'm not gonna say what I saw or even which player / staff member it is but it is there. The longer the pass play or the bigger the situation the play is in the more pronounced this tip is. When I broke it down it was done on 88% of pass plays & only 7% of run plays. The 7% of run plays it was on were all "big" situations as in 4th down conversion attempts or similar. Wouldn't bring it up normally but this is one of the most consistent tips I've ever saw. SP find it, it is there. Coalfield, fix it.

  12. Yep GOING AWAY HUH. I believe this because in my assessment Polk is a superior team. Strength of schedule is better, talent is better, scheme will probably be better. All that equals, at least to me, better team. Better team = Round 2. Worse team = better basketball. As for the best game in the state tonight. . . I don't see it in the top 10. Polk will have the opportunity to call off the dogs late tonight if they choose to do so. Not questioning the heart or determination of Kingston but in the play offs there are a lot of bugs & only a few windshields. Tonight, in my assessment, the yellow jackets meet their windshield.
  13. Many people around the region & a lot of the state for that matter including myself have been surprised by this.
  14. I'm sure he would take one, my question is could they GET one?
  15. Agree to a point, disappointment sucks no matter who you are, but if you are on a team that has only experienced major success a couple times in the history of the program not winning gold will still be a disappointment. However if you are a player for a team that has won a gold ball every year since you were in 5th grade & your senior year falls short it would be much more disappointing then would it not. Example which do you think stung worse for a given player? Greeneville's single loss this season or the loss Maryville suffered that snapped their 70+ game winning streak. While I do agree disappointment is disappointment the severity can & does vary depending on circumstances. In the factory worker example which would have hurt more the 60-something year old man that had been there for 40 years & was 6 months from retirement or the 18 year old kid that had been working there for 3 weeks? While apples to oranges may not be exactly the right analogy maybe granny smith's to honeycrisp's would've been more appropriate. At any rate this has been an enjoyable discussion
  16. If he is as you say & is what you want then best of luck with him in the future. I don't intend to sling mud at any individual either it was more a reference to the "out with the old in with the new" vibe. I am glad to hear he is a good leader & plays his best 11. As for the future, everyone will gauge GCA on not only their success but also their failures, moreover how they respond to those failures. If you will watch the respected & tradition rich programs from across the state they gain far more from responding well to lean years then whoopin' it up on the rich ones. I hope the future for GCA holds hard work, discipline, & building tradition but I'm skeptically optimistic & I feel rightfully so given the past. Best of luck to your son & best wishes to your family. I have enjoyed the discussion & hope you enjoy the new carpet. Like or hate turf. . . it does look nice.
  17. I'll give you I am operating on history, heck that's all we have to go on is what has been done. I truly hope for your son & all the other students at GCA they are cleaning up their messes for good. Unfortunately coach McKamey is still there (for now anyway) & you being an "insider" knows there are more skeletons in that closet. Reputation is kinda like trust, it takes a long time to build, can be virtually erased in a thought, & takes longer to rebuild than to initially build. We will see how GCA progresses as time passes. I hope it is on hard work & tradition, not back door deals & flavors of the month. We shall see.
  18. I'm not sure about that, my count is I have saw 29 different college (NAIA, D-II, FCS, & FBS) fields since May of this year. Of those 2 were field turf, 1 was the old stuff, & 26 were natural grass. If you get up into Montana & Dakota's & the like they have field turf mostly of necessity, however if a college can grow grass they usually do, at least from what I've saw over the last 5 years. In that time the vast majority of probably 75-85 fields I've saw were grass.
  19. And my point was that Greeneville fans have not enjoyed the level of success that Alcoa & Maryville fans have so the comparison of disappointment was apples & oranges. As for the "fall from grace" you mention, it will happen unfortunately, it eventually does to all programs. As you said there are "lean years" to get through. I hope Greeneville has a nice extended stay at the level they are currently at. I guess what I take exception to a little is the ease at which programs (not just GHS), or their fans rather, jump to throw their hat in the "we've done the same thing Alcoa & Maryville have done" ring. The level of success is high right now in Greeneville, it's longevity has not reached the next plateau yet. Maintaining that level of success for many years is what defines great programs. Hitting a streak of a few years every other decade does not. I'm not taking away from what GHS has & is doing, just acknowledging what Alcoa & Maryville have done & are still doing. One could also throw Trousdale County into that group & to a slightly lesser extent (lesser mostly because they had to play Trousdale County for years to get there) South Pittsburg. Many programs over the years from across the state have achieved "greatness". I for one think that designation should be protected as something that MUST be earned, not tossed around as casual comparison. Let me end by saying the comparison was probably taken out of context by me but that seems to have spawned an entirely new discussion. One, I might add, that has been very enjoyable to have. Also the comparison did not strike a "homer" nerve with me, as I do not regularly attend games for ANY of the schools discussed thus far. I will find myself on a fence with a view of all of them from time to time for one reason or another. I've said it before & I'll say it again. I hope GHS has to build a truck load of trophy cases for the next decade or two to come. I just don't know if they'll have to or not yet. BTW: As for your GHS vs. UT comparison. Don't sell GHS short, Dooley would probably mess his orange trousers just thinking about having to play them right now LOL.
  20. I agree with many of the points in your post. Tennessee is one of the worst states I see when it comes to funding for public education. From buildings to technology & extracurricular activities. Your assessment of people not wanting to pony up the dough is spot on. Further I commend you for your willingness to sacrifice for your child's education. GCA has & will continue to draw fire for the way they have chosen to build their athletic program. I'm certain many of the kids on that team are from families just like yours & some probably much less fortunate with far greater sacrifices to be there. With that said we all know that the administration as well as the coach have in the past & most likely will in the future commit rules violations in the name of success on the football field. It further draws negative views when many of the GCA faithful have been on this board for several years now proclaiming to the world how much less funding they receive compared to public schools then they go drop several hundred thousand dollars on shiny new field turf. It's not greed of have not's coveting thy neighbors turf, it's disgust of having a program talking out of their mouth & their tail pipe at the same time. Couple that with the arrogance many of the fan base has & the lack of discretion on the coaching staff when beating a far inferior program into the ground while still pouring it on with the starters playing late. Well you have a recipe for poor public image. It's very unfortunate for the legit athletes at GCA that their adults have let them down. Do me one favor prior to responding. Take yourself out of your current position & try to look at the situation as an outside observer. Then see if you don't understand a little better where most of the "non-supporters" are coming from.
  21. No sir, you are unfairly pigeon holing me into sounding like that. My point is about ALL PRIVATE SCHOOLS have much more opportunity to cheat as far as student/athletes receiving inappropriate benefits. As long as you have tuition & something more to offer academically & athletically some people will want to send their children there. Private schools have that "more to offer" (again not in all cases but many times this is true). Well if that is something I want for my son & cannot afford it the "greed" on the part of the parent sometimes wins over knowing what is right. If the offer is made by a school for little Johnny to come there for free or cheap who knows who would or wouldn't take that offer. I'm not saying all private schools cheat but the temptation is much more prevalent in a private school scenario. The "greed" for success in athletics lures many from those administrations to do things that gain an unfair advantage. Do all private programs cheat? Absolutely not. Did this one? Absolutely. Do all public's walk the line? Absolutely not. The difference is what they have to offer as "bait" if you will. If private's play D-II then they can offer financial assistance but then they lose there advantage over their competition. If public's play public's then that advantage is not available. Will public's still cheat? Of course some will, but everyone has the same playing field. It just muddies the waters of who is or isn't cheating when money & book keepers are involved. I'm not saying private's shouldn't play public's ever. Just shouldn't be in public divisions.
