Now that some of the pain is beginning to dull from the lost to West, There is much positive that we can take from last week. I mention this for the players. Its been a long time since we dominated a West team like we did friday night. 6 west first downs to JC's 19!!!!! wow. almost 400 yards compared to west's 100 wow. When we could have quit, we drove 65 yards and scored. The boys fought hard. Dont lose sight of the goal. Make the playoffs. We will do this if we win out. We had 20 different ways we could have won the game but found the 1 way to lose. Put this past you and take it out on East!! have a good week of practice and win big Friday night during senior night..

I cant disagree. I have supported the coaches from day one but this one leaves me sick at my stomack. I have never seen a poorer play call than the pass to the side that the west player jumped and returned for 6. Its the most dangerous play in football and to call this up 7, with the ball, with 8 minutes left is a poor decision. This is especially true given our defensive success in this game. Its sad for the kids because JC is a 14-21 point better team than WEST. West had less than 100 total yards for the game. 7 yards in the second quarter. Go pats finish strong.

you are almost correct. Jc should have beat SC by 21.

that was the point but reverse. Jc has always been a veer team with Carson Newman ex lineman as coach. they know the veer but attempted to move to spred to take advantage of skill players speed. They are very small up front which caused them issues trying to hold out bigger def lineman. They attacked SC tonight and looked very good. Just beat the #8th ranked 6a program and it should have been worse. SC longest scoring drive was 20 yards. Go pats great total team win.

I understand its about the line but. It does matter what you run. If you are small like we are, then the spread might not be for us. If we are playing our best, we must match their capabilities to our scheme!! I think this is what they are thinking in moving back to a fast hit veer look. go pats

I think after the first 2 games, they are desparate. I think most changes are good but also question the timeing. Better later than never if it works. I dont know if they fully understood the needs on the OF lines to run the spred. BIG and STRONG. We cant block it. period. We have the skill players to run it but it dont matter if you dont have to time to set it up!!. Dont forget, the competition goes down after the first 3 games. IF we run 7 in a row we will make playoffs and we will be a favorite in all but 1 (west), and I like our chances after seeing them against Central. This is not much different from last year and we should have won our last 7 games then. If we continue to limit our turnovers, I like our chances against the final 7. What we need is 180 turn and be competitive against SC to build momentum. Our def must show up and stop someone. We focus on the offense but our biggest dissapointment has to be the def which was our strength coming into the season. With our speed on def, who could think that Young would have 280 yards in the first half. We are small up front here also. I see a theme?? I hear the we are moving to 4 man front and I hope this helps. Go pats

I hear this. Woods will call the plays and 17 will stay at Qb and 10 will move to RB with DK. They will once again run a veer like offense out of the pistol formation simular to last year. this is the offense that they scored 6 points in the first 2 games last year. Once again, until they can block someone, they will struggle to move the ball with any consistancy. I hear that if they can run at all, it will open up play action passing and give 17 time to throw. They still want to utilize the pass to become balanced. who knows at this point. 3 offenses in 3 years???? we have often wondered why nothing seems to work with the skill players we have-----answer we have not blocked anything. Block it and we can run any of the 3!!!. The veer is probably our best choice given we dont have to hold the blocks long like the spread. I think that Anderson will spend much more time with the lineman now. this sounds good as he was all american at CN as a veer lineman. I hear that they are moving to 4 man def front. missing the point: Its not conditioning or players playing both ways at this point. We have been blown out b-4 this comes into play. I could understand this if we were losing in the 3rd and 4 quarters. We are getting killed early!!. We cant get our def off the field because we cant tackle and stop the run. Our Off has been unable to block. We are losing the battles up front. On def, we need to move more meat up front to cover their lineman so that our LB's can make plays. On offense, we are too small to run the spread and must move to something that hits quick. YOu can run anything if you can block. At this point, we cant or have not! We must fix our up front issues b-4 we can compete with the better programs. There are several positives this year. much less turnovers, we have scored 3 times as many points as last year. The bad we have given up much more and Young could have gone for 500 yards on us.

watched greeneville friday. looked strong in all areas of the game. stout defense. Played starting QB for 2.5 quarters. Def ends dominated the game on def. looked fast in all areas. you have to stop number 3 or it will be long night

I share your pain. I do agree that Gville had something to do with that. It was our first game with new O and it will get better. Coaches are new to this as well. Qb had trouble getting outside because we could not control def ends. Ends were often meetng at the QB. We must improve in all areas here. coach better, block better, ect. I dont want ot judge too soon as its not an easy task that we face with Green, Beardon, adn Sev county. WE could play great and be 0-3. The big picture should be improving and makeing playoffs. 8-2 or 7-3 are realistic expectations. If we do that, we are making progress. go pats

Greeneville is good. Like to see us out of the 3x3 and into 4x3 or something to get penetraton on D. I am concerned about some going both ways as much as they do. How do you expect 54 to play middle LB and Center for 4 quarters. He is a man in my book and has a heart of a champion. DK great moves and great game. Our offense will get better but I agree that 10 needs more touches. Quarterback needs time to throw!!!!!!!!!! We could not block their ends all night. Effort was good, but you could tell which team showed up expecting to win and which one had question mark?? Barb you are correct in the catching thing. JC also need practice in this field as we should have picked him off 2 times in which green came up with the ball to score. Greeneville-- great class. Good luck. JC lets work hard to beat Beardon.

Ill give you some of that. Its out of region and all that stuff but it may be the snowball that gets this thing rolloing. Its real important to change our downward spiral. If you played, you know how the old momentum thing works.. This is what I meant. In 83, it started with that first win to go 10-0 which set the mark for others to strive for. I bet that Alcoa sets out to win every game, district or not, Thats how great teams become great. Every upcoming game is the most important. The next one, not the past ones!!!!! I bet you are correct barb. I just wished jc had an easier first game. Straight into the fire with new offense and QB. What doesnt kill you makes you stronger they say. If this is true, we will get real strong after Greeneville, Beardon, and Sev county. It worked with Greeneville last year. Struggles early and played for state title at end.

It could happen as we are double diget underdogs in each of our first 3 games, but we will fight. can you send me the tape of the west quarter as you may have vision issues as 10 and 54 stood on sidelines and watched. By the way, the players in question are goins and cain but you know this as their numbers are easy to remember and just throw out. ps You may have the cherokee tape by mistake.

Just since the school was built in 70s. I remenber when it was big to start the season with Knox Carter and win. I remenber the good teams that got nowhere. It had to start with the 83 team that went undefeated to start a tradition. By the mid 80's, winning bacame expected!! This is what I speak of. You have to start somewhere and tonight could be it. No its not the biggest game we have ever played by itself, but when you look to where it could lead. Get the point!! I was there with Bible and Bales, Randy Miller, Collins, Jarnigan, mike rich, The Riley boys, wayne woods, smiley, the jennings family. dewight and avery huff, upton. I have been to Nashville 3 times for the state championships. I bleed true, supportive, Blue. Ive been here through good and bad. Dont talk to me about Patriot history when I have lived it as both player and fan. Now if you dont have something good to say. Then dont say it. can you tell you struck a nerve.

I hope you are correct. We will take a win of any kind. I think if we put 37 on them, we win in a blowout!!! The croud will be felt in Knoxville if we put 37 on them. You are correct. this could be one of the biggest wins in school history. JC is starving and looking for a team to get behind. Many will come off the couches if we pull this one out. Tommy let me break this tie. Jc did not play a single starter. In fact, the later half of the quarter was the 10th grade team. Dont that make you feel good.

Barb all major programs are doing it. BUT We do see a change from were this program came from 4 years ago when it had 30 players. Its good to see that we are now, at least, putting in the effort to succeed. I do know that many of the players leave the football workouts and then go workout as individuals. I know that several workout after practice. I like to think that we are no longer loosing ground to the upper teams in East Tn as related to preparation. We may lose but It wont be because we didnt work for it or that the players were soft. Barb thanks for your imput. Go pats.

thats harsh but I can understand given the past record. I do know its not from a lack of effort. I drove by the school yesterday and they were out there at 6 oclock. I past again at 9 and they were still there. No one is out working us. I give an A for effort and hard work and prefer to stay positive for our 80 players. They do not get a second chance and derserve our backing win or lose!!!!!The coach thing will work itself out later. This is Andersons dream job. Dont you think hes giving it all he has. Get people out and support our players and coaches. Being negative going into this will not help. If it does not work, we can cry after the fact but not b-4! Stay positive need 10000 sreaming fans at game 1.

great postings. Good changes but seeing growing pains. It does take a good deal of time to make these changes. Ask MI. defense looks strong. Offense needs work but I dont think this is a surprise. We will be ok if our blocking improves as it will. coaches are rotating about 7 receivers to find the ones that will catch the ball. A coulpe of timely catches could have made a big difference last week. I think we can work a little harder to get Goins the ball in space but its nice to have so many options. Its important to note that Kounts did not play last Friday!!! Hes worth a few points himself. He is especially important in short yardage situations that gave them some problems last week. With Bells and Kounts back, we will look much different than what we saw Friday. If we can get a break early, this team could be real good by game 3 or 4. That said, they will be dangerous in week 1. Go pats Go pats. This team has worked so hard. They deserve to succeed. Its about time that the goodguys get a break. We need 10000 fans at game 1, talk it up. This team could be special with a little confidence.

gradd88 is dead on. we made changes to take advantage of speed. The key this year will be the performance of the Lines on both sides of the ball. If We can pass block we will challenge defenses with speed by 4-5 players. The challenge is that JC has been a running team for 30 years. They will again run the ball but it will look much different. They will have options if defenses put 8-9 in the box as teams have in the past. Only if they can block it. The key I see is how well will the players adjust to playing both ways for much of the game. More players pulling double duty than anytime in the past that I can remember. As to the Greeneville game. I think this will be one of JC's toughest games. If they can win this game and get happy, look out!!! I do feel that it will be close. Glad its at Jc this year.

No I did not leave early> I simply know when we are playing our starters vs our backups. Our defense played for 20 plays. That being the first 20 plays. They never returned!!!!!!!!We faced Centrals starters late with our backups. I should have said our starting defense dominated other than 1 play??? What you saw was Central running over tons of 10th graders with our starters watching. Sometimes you must open the book to read within and not judge by cover alone.
