  1. What was the Dyer Co / SF score? Or just enter it on either team's schedule page.
  2. This is still to hard to hash out at this point. Maybe in three weeks there will be a better picture. There are currently 25 teams in 5A who have won 3 or more games. 5 are undefeated (Henry Co, Gallatin, Powell, Columbia, Morristown West) 3 have only 1 loss (Memphis East, Dyer Co, Shelbyville) There are 18 teams who have 2 wins. There are only 7 spots available to those 18 teams. My top 4 would be Henry Co, Columbia, Memphis East, and Morristown West (not necessarily in that order). Until some of these 2 win teams seperate themselves, it will be difficult to determine what teams will be in what quadrant. May even go down to week 10, especially since last year so many 4 win teams were left out while 4 teams with 4 wins got in.
  3. 1. Henry County 2. Lexington 3. Milan 4. Chester County 5. Humboldt 6. Obion County 7. Camden 8. Huntingdon 9. USJ 10.South Gibson Others - Adamsville, McKenzie, Liberty, Dyer County, Covington, Westview. JCM should not be considered for a ranking. Maybe in a few years after Edwards recruits all of Jackson. Liberty should have lost to Dyer Co. Dyer Co got hosed on the last play of regulation. I think a lot of people forget about Camden since they are in a district with teams across the river.
  4. This is a product of a very smart hire and a very dumb hire.
  5. PC disappears into oblivion after Tucker leaves. Count on it. In all sports.
  6. The HC took an admin job. This used to be a proud program that has recently fallen on hard times. Anybody have any word on this opening? Do they have anyone in mind? I think its doubtful this is an in house, rigged deal like South Side was.
  7. Anyone who thinks they will let the new coach bring anybody with him has lost their mind. The only person they would hire in addition to a new coach would be the guy's wife.
  8. Per an edict from Terry Hillier and Gene Menees, there are now 4 legal comp bats DeMarini Vendetta Combat Louisville Slugger Anthing else is ILLEGAL.
  9. There is some responsibility on the umpires to check the bats. It can't just be on the coaches. If little Johnny got smacked in the forehead from a ball hit off an Easton bat, some jerk lawyer will try to say its the coach's AND umpire's fault. I know the Demarini and Louisville Slugger comp bats are legal. I think there's one more. Easton is NOT. If a player came to the plate and got a hit with an illegal bat that had been hid during inspection, the batter should be called out upon discovery. It is my understanding that the NFHS had planned to make ALL comp bats illegal this year. The reasoning was because some of the bats actually got hotter the more they were hit. The companies whose bats were deemed legal showed statistics and documentation that their bats did NOT become hotter and were therefore deemed legal. I have heard several stories of mad mommies and daddies who paid $400+ for an Easton comp and they can't use it. However, it is also my understanding that next year the only bats that will be legal are aluminum or wood. All comp bats will be illegal, no exceptions.
  10. Rumor mill says a coach was offered and turned it down.
  11. Worse that Joshua Smith? No way .........................
  12. What's going on here? Seems odd they are starting Region tournament play Thursday and the job is already posted. Even though they will likely lose to Lake Co, why didn't they wait till after the season was officially over?
  13. Seems to me that everyone is posting problems but nobody has a real solution. The biggest problem is this - money. Schools really can't afford much more than the $80 they are paying the refs. This is a turnoff right there. Explain to me how someone wants to drive and spend $10 - $20 in gas to work a game where they are gonna get yelled at for AT LEAST 25% of their calls (especially the hard ones that are RIGHT, i.e., block/charge). Then look at how much next level refs get paid. Even small conferences pay $500 - $600 (plus per diem) for 1 game. So better refs are working those games, rather than your little Johnny's game. As far as the ref chastising the cheerleader, it is a rule that a ref could call a technical on that team for her interference. However, the proper procedure would be to stop the game and go to that coach or the game administrator (obviously he wouldn't be chastising her if she wasn't in his way) and have them removed before exercising this option. So yes, this was mishandled. But the cheerleaders have NO expectation of space on that endline. It is a privledge for them to stand there. Cheerleaders, just like the band, are a side-show and NOT what got people to pay $5 at the door. I understand why the radio announcer wants to go back to two man but I promise three man is better when properly worked. For example, say Team 1 is pressing and have trapped Team 2's player of the side of the court away from the trail official. Who is there to see contact/traveling/feet out of bounds? In a 3 man crew the "C" official is right on top of it. I will admit a lot of calls get missed or "phantom" calls get made. If you have a "real" solution (other than griping), please let me know and we'll both make a bunch of money.
  14. Unless something changes, "The Big Church on the Hill" will be what rules the school system and politics in Hickman County. Considering Dr. DICtator and every principal in the county attend such church, I doubt that happens. I wish someone would investigate their hiring practices .......................... Don't get me wrong, there are good people at East Hickman. King, Rivers, Dickson, ........................................ Dang, now I'm stuck. Where's veritas when you need him? I love reading his posts.
  15. Way to boost yourself coach. You look more like a banty rooster than a coach. The word is out on you guys refusing to trade film and trying to bootleg them from other teams. I hope nobody trades film with you next year.
  16. I think it's going to prove to be a not-so-smart move to play Varsity football in the 1st year of the school's existence. Look at East Hickman. Granted, the difference in Williamson Co and Hickman Co is enormous, but still ................
  17. I've heard a rumor that Jeff Fisher may be looking for a job, and he has CPA ties and connections.
  18. This simply reflects that there are really 4 divisions in Tennessee Football East, Middle, West, and Memphis. Why do you think Memphis signs 30 D1 athletes every year but almost never win anything? Some school goes 6-6 and has 4 guys sign with SEC, Big 12, etc. Happens every year.
  19. Hey Troll, congrats on your team winning state. However, since my team didn't win, I have to say "Ascendo Tuum!" Good luck in 4A. Don't blame you for getting away from Alcoa and going from 3A to 4A. Unfortunatley, you'll be on another board in the future. Or maybe for you it's fortunate since you won't be on a board Butchie moderates.
  20. Do a pretty good job?? Are you serious??? 1st of all, where else can you "work" 3 days a week and make $80,000? Not only that, but NO decision they make are held accountable. For example, last year, the playoffs were so screwed up, THEY HAD TO TAKE EM DOWN AND RE-DO EM! Personally, I think they should have fined themselves $10,000 and donated it to the local boys club. Next, the "dots on a map" thing ain't working. There are numerous instances I can cite, but Forrest driving 250 miles to Dresden comes to mind. Or Brentwood winning their district and being an 8 seed. Or ............... jeez. The next thing that's gonna happen is they are going to start making the schools pay them directly for officials, and they in turn direct deposit the money into the official's accounts. You may not think that's a big deal, but I promise you'll see a lot of officials quit if that happens. And if you want to complain about the refs now, wait till you've got job blow out there who doesn't know his elbow from his a-hole, but he's there because THERE'S NOBODY ELSE! THEY DON'T CARE. It's like "hey, let's try this? It sounds stupid, so everybody will hate it and talk about us!"
  21. Aren't you guys forgetting about Don Thomas? He's from LC and lived there the whole time he was at Marshall Co. Now on staff there as ? (not sure if AP or what).
  22. You can't argue that Quad 2 is the toughest. TC and SM being the only 10-0 teams and being in there together says it all. Add in a tough Friendship team that gave TC all they wanted, and I gotta believe that whoever comes out of this one wins it. I think Mt. Pleasant will whip WHH and will give McKenzie all they want. I think Dresden will out-athlete Forrest but will get drilled in the rematch with Riverside. I reserve my prediction for McKenzie/Riverside for that week. McKenzie could get upset. Mt. Pleasant's coaches remember losing in the semis a few years ago when they had Marco.....................
  23. I don't know if I'd say Huntingdon is playing GOOD ball right now. I saw the game vs McKenzie on Friday night. They moved the ball well but shot themselves in the foot time and time again. However, that Warbritton (sp?) kid is as good as it gets for high school football. Based on what others have said about South Fulton's injuries plus Huntingdon stopping McKenzie's run game for 3 quarters and Huntingdon's HC's experience in the playoffs, I'd say they will win.
