  1. I have zero connections to Maryville, so I won't be worrying about anyone. But I respect the heck out of them and their program. They are the Alabama of 6A high school football......a dynasty. They have 17 state championships. Oakland is the equivalent of Georgia or Ohio St. They have 6 championships. Maybe in 2 or 3 decades you can come back and brag about Oakland having a better history than Maryville. But until then, it sounds like you should be the one worrying that Maryville will beat Bearden and Bradley Central
  2. Losing to Alcoa is nothing to be ashamed of at all. However, losing to the Gallatin Green Wave, as the mighty Golden Bears did.....
  3. Baylor is an extremely talented team. Not sure who all of these people are that don't consider them a threat
  4. Ah, yes......I'm sure Alcoa has nightmares every night thinking about all those unbeatable 4A teams. And why should they move up? You can move up to avoid them just as easily
  5. I'm not affiliated with Farragut or Maryville, but I came in here to read about the game. And all of a sudden, this Oakland pajama-wearing, Mt. Juliet fan shows up talking smack about how one team in the state of TN might be better than Maryville. Even if Oakland beats Maryville, they have a TON of catching up to do with championships. Regardless, the mighty MJ football team will be home watching championship weekend.
  6. Yes, this juggernaut of an offense that Elizabethton possesses has mustered a total of 7 points so far this season.
  7. Why exactly would you be worried about Bearden?
  8. This may be hard for you to comprehend, but the point is that no one else would've "handled" Oakland in a scrimmage
  9. You can't just simply replace James. He was one of, if not the best, players in state
  10. That wouldn't surprise me at all. Everyone says that Oakland beat the 2 best private schools in the state this season, but IMO, McCallie is the best
  11. Do you expect a 3-peat next year? If not, who all do you guys lose off of this year's team? Congrats on the W!
  12. What exactly do you mean when saying, "apparently Maryville does not remember last year"?
  13. Well, the Alcoa D kept one of these large, athlete-loaded SEC teams from crossing midfield the entire game. So there's that
  14. First, I'm not 'Alcoa folk', but I know great talent when I see it. Secondly, I do think that Oakland is the best team in the state THIS YEAR. That being said, Oakland beats you by smashing the ball down your throat. And it's easy for them to do that to most teams. Alcoa's defense this year was just as good if not better than anyone's in the state. Watch their championship game if you don't believe me. Their front 7 would be bigger, faster and stronger than anyone else that Oakland played. You'd be hard-pressed to find any knowledgeable football fan or high school football guru that would say otherwise. I would still pick Oakland to win by 7 or so, but Alcoa would definitely not get beat by 6 touchdowns. I don't think they even gave up 6 touchdowns total in 15 games all year. Blackman couldn't even cross midfield against them. Oh and in 2018, I would have paid good money to have watched Oakland play Greeneville. Lastly, does anyone know how many TDs Alcoa's first-string D gave up all year?
  15. Yes, it would've. Alcoa would have played Oakland closer than anyone else
  16. Alcoa played Blackman and DB this year.....both traditionally solid 6A teams. Not too sure they run away from Oakland if they came calling. And Maryville's depth wasn't the issue against Oakland this year......it was the simple fact that their DL couldn't hold their own against Oakland's OL. 1s against 1s was a mismatch from the start this year
  17. You don't seem very intelligent. Football is a game of match-ups. Oakland dominated Maryville on the line of scrimmage. Believe it or not, Alcoa's OL and particularly their DL were much better than Maryville's this year. Any football fan that watched both play could tell you that. The only team in any public classification in Cookeville this year that could beat Alcoa is Oakland. And it would've been much closer than the Oakland/Maryville game
  18. Alcoa vs Oakland would have been a great match-up this year!
  19. And yet, in the last 3 years, their record against each other is 2-2. In 2018, they played twice and split. Last year, Maryville won. This year, Oakland won. When's the last time that any team besides Maryville held Oakland scoreless in an entire game, like last year?
  20. Oakland will probably win it all next year, too. And, James, Horton, Patterson, etc will graduate. Then, Maryville or someone else will win again. Same thing happened with the Maryville team from last year that Oakland couldn't score a point on. Davis, Hodge, Maples, Shiver etc graduated, and Maryville couldn't replace them. Like I said, it's all cyclical
  21. The past 4 years, Oakland and Maryville have played 6 times. Each have a 3-3 record. What tides are changing exactly?
  22. The cute little bear knows 3 words......"diversion" and "basketball season"
  23. THIS YEAR, yes. That's what happens when you lose 17 starters. It goes in cycles
