  1. Not my AD. And if he was, that's a terrible line of thought. Needs to be the bottom line so that there's money for facilities and equipment for the future of the program. Esp one that's trying to build on success like SH is trying.
  2. It was voted on to redraw the schedule. And magically, SHvsDB was the last game and magically it was at DB again. Some AD(s) in the conf need to grow a pair.
  3. To who? that's the best OOC in this area they can get. And SH wants zero part in having to travel to knoxville. Costs way too much money to make that attractive, and with them having to play DB away again next year they will be losing out on that fat gate two years in a row. What SH has to gain in playing MW & Gville is the boosted gate from two schools that have great fan bases that travel and two very good football teams that help SH get better.
  4. No, that's what I meant. To me there isn't any choking in the 6A playoffs. Everybody can play pigskin well at that level, and esp this year, in our Quad.
  5. To me it's a numbers game. There are only 2 6A teams in the Tri-cities, and 6 5A teams (Correct me if wrong.) That's not many compared to other geographic areas like Knoxville, Nashville, Murfreesboro, etc so the chances for success in the area isn't high statistically. And in the old 5A/current 6A football playoffs there aren't any easy games. Every team that makes it in that is for real, esp in 6A Quad 1 this year. If you narrow the area down you could really make the case for any area in Tennessee outside of Blount county, annually choking in the playoffs. On top of that, there's just less population in NET, so you're gonna have less talent, even if there are large schools in the area. What the tri-cities needs is an NFL or D-1 college team to "encourage" better talent
  6. Hoople thinks this one goes to betsy, 24-21.
  7. 35-17 JC, according to the coacht scoreboard.

  9. You sound amazingly bitter. Perhaps an angry parent? Carter has actually ran the ball more than he has passed this year and has historically done so. What amazes me about you yahoo couch potato qbs is the lack of football IQ y'all have. You can't run the ball every down, you have to pass to loosen the box up and get the defensive backfield out. I'm not going to claim that SH will give Maryville a fight, but I will say the Rebels will see a much better team than they did last year. Problem is that Maryville is much better than last year too. I say they win by the same score 35-7, only because Maryville has a level of class and sportsmanship other schools can't even sniff at.
  10. You know it's not the wing t right? At no point has DB run the Wing T this year. It's the Double Wing/Flexbone depending on who you ask, but it's def not the Wing T.
  11. Word is he is feeling better, but still having some side effects.
  12. Says the future is bright, but yes of course, varsity is what matters. I just want to see some smack from the SH side here. You guys seem more reserved than the DB crowd. Will we at least see some well deserved gloating should SH win?
  13. It ain't much, BUT SH jv did beat DB twice this year and shut them out the second time on the way to an undefeated jv schedule. I gave you the fuel man, RUN WITH IT
  14. That might be my favorite thing about talking smack. It's cheap, isn't hard to swallow if you're wrong, and is all the sweeter if you're right. Let the man roll hahaha
  15. I admire the swagger, but I believe Snyder is the statistical leader at QB in the conference. While I'm not sure if he's a "great" QB, he is most certainly a "good" QB.
  16. Just wondering, but why don't you think that DB is vulnerable vs the pass? Not saying they are, but Sevier Co had a lot of success with it and SH is similar to them out wide. SH also has three very good TEs that could pose an interesting match up in the game.
  17. They def could give them a run, but I'd be 99% sure DB would hand both of them an L. Again, just a scrimmage, but DB LAID it to Greeneville in their preseason match. /+1 jaco
  18. Granted, it's certainly a down year for the 5A teams. What I wonder is if TN high would have been better (or possibly worse) had Stubbs been able to stay. While I'd imagine they wouldn't have had as bad of a turnover issue running the old Offense, they've become more dynamic with their new spread O. It seemed like their D was pretty good this year despite being put in rough spots by turnovers. Vikes fans care to weigh in? Cap, 04, etc? (I know this is the SH/DB thread, but it seems like its become the de facto Big 8 thread this week. And I kinda like it.)
  19. Waiiiiiiit a second, an idiot can coach a team to a 7-2 record and be in contention for the conf title? Ralph Nelson actually has say over the defense and running the clock isn't SH's style this year. They run a hurry up that's proven effective if they convert 3rd downs. This could help them tremendously if they can convert, but if they don't it will bite them harder than anything else. It makes for a long game if you go three and out and only run a minute and a half off the clock and have stopped the time with an incomplete pass on 3rd down. I'll actually post that as the key to the game. When DB is on def, if they can stop SH on 3rd down more often than not, they will win going away. Also, despite what I post or do on here I'm a fairly allegiance free fan, I tend to catch all the local teams, with SH being the most frequent.
  20. I don't think anyone's counting anything. Scrimmages are good indicators of talent level since so little game planning or film study happening before hand and the use of backups to gauge depth. 7 on 7 actually has little indication of how successful you'll be since it's basically flag football. But SH did handle SC very well in their scrimmages, point being that their defense matches up very well against their offense (3-3 stack vs Spread)
  21. DB certainly isn't the epitome of mediocrity. Playoff mediocrity is more like it. And I'd say winning the conf year after year is something to brag about. They make it look easy and there's something to be said about that. I think once SH rises to DB's level it will help both teams tremendously in the playoffs. It gives both teams a bar to get above. So while beating a team 17 years in a row seems nice, its better to have competition, esp around here with the dearth of 6A teams.
  22. Not saying it won't happen, but I don't think SH will be a pushover like boone, south, TN, etc. Just saying that sevier co killed mo west that beat SH, and that by the additive property DB will crush SH like a bug is a bit reductive. SH isn't out of DB's league like the rest of the Big 8, and SH has proven that they're well above the rest of the conf as well. I'm certainly not saying DB won't win, but a game that isn't a bar room brawl would surprise me. (injuries, weather, corrupt refs non-withstanding) In SH's losses it looked like they beat themselves, and the only time DB loses it's because they beat themselves (or a D1 RB puts the team on his back, ugh)
  23. Oh it's pretty easy to beat Clark. The best way is to score more points. HARF HARF HARF. I'll be here all week.
  24. As far as the Big 8 goes, Ty Hayworth and Tyler Miles. Both are outstanding. And neither are a "joke".
