  1. OK, fair enough. I'm assuming from your answer that CAK golfers (or fans) did not do that with pictures of your kids. But if they had, you'd be ok with it, which is your right to hold that belief and I respect that. I also teach my children not to blame others for coming up short, in sports, academics and other aspects of life. At least you and I have that in common. It seems we just disagree on the propriety of using the pictures of HS players in message board jokes.
  2. You really are funny--some of the leaps of logic you're able to make. Could it be that when I was signing up for this board, I didn't want to take the time to sit around and come up with some witty screen name. Could it be that I don't give a flip if people know my real name or not, because I'm not going to say anything on here that I wouldn't say to somebody's face. I noticed you didn't answer my question--did I mention at some point that my son is a freshman and you were so smitten with me that you've made note of the information, or did you go online somewhere and look me up? Show me you're a real man and answer the question instead of continuing to fall back on the same old song about how I take myself so seriously.
  3. I agree--frivolous litigation is awful. FYI, I spend a fair amount of my time defending AGAINST frivolous litigation. I hope your kids are doing well playing golf, and I wish them the best. Did anybody at CAK take pictures of them and post on a message board with cupcakes over their heads? Imagine how you would feel if they had. It's one thing to take a picture of some politician or professional athlete who put themselves in the public eye, and who get paid for what they do, and horse around with their likenesses in good fun. Portraying other people's kids cupcakes just to gig CAK is not right. I can't believe I'm having to explain this.
  4. I avoided debating the poor Loudon fan about the fact that they "should have won" against CAK--not Catholic--with our second string QB playing the whole game, a defense that missed the QB because he normally plays S, several timely bad calls that sustained Loudon drives, and officials who kept stopping the clock on Loudon's final drive (w/ no Timeouts left) after every play, even though the plays were not out of bounds and didn't require moving the chains. See, you guys would have rubbed all that crap in the guy's face. Finally, I'm sorry I'm not living up to your standards.
  5. Ahhh, and you know enough about ME to know that I'll be here three more years? Did I tell you that? Or do you take me seriously enough to look up information to see what grade my son is in? Either way, it shows you take me more seriously than I take you. The only thought I give to you and your fellow disrespectful Alcoa fans (not calling All Alcoa fans disrespectful--just those of you who seem to take pleasure in making other people unhappy) is when I'm on this board trying to keep you honest. See, I got a rise out of you again!
  6. No disrespect taken, brother. These guys might be halfway decent if you sit around a table with them. Some people are much more willing to insult another person through the relatively shielded, indirect format of an online message board. They certainly were not very friendly in their "banter" with me when I came to this board; the first disagreeable thing I said, they were all over me like stink on a cowpile. As for the cupcake pictures, I have to disagree with you slightly. Personally, I'm not put off by the generic cupcake theme, now that BC has acknowledged, though only indirectly, that Alcoa had some cupcake on its schedule too. But when they take a picture of an actual player from another team, like Grace or any other, and put a cupcake over that boy's head, just so they can poke fun at CAK's schedule...well, if that were my son on the Grace team, and I saw that...I think it would make me pretty angry. Finally, I do hope that the Alcoa jokester who took last year's game so seriously that he took a picture of the scoreboard and kept it long enough to use this year to post on here to "poke" Cak fans has a child on the team. I mean, their victories over us last year were nother special for them-- just a couple out of several DOZEN wins in a row--not state championship games, not the win over cross-town rival Maryville. If I had a child on the team, perhaps I could envision taking a picture of the scoreboard to preserve it for his memories down the road.
  7. See, cakfan, I told you, didn't I? This time they struck back with the "whiner" (same as "hater" or "jealous")cry. Just because we point out how disrespectful some of the posts are, we're whiners. I think the real whiners are the ones who can't take a little constructive criticism without lashing out personally at somebody. He expects the F5 coaches and players to make a statement Thursday night? Ohhhh, we're in trouble now--he's probably the one in charge of giving the pep speech to the team before the game. And did you see the RISE we got out of him!? And so quickly too!
  8. Oh, there is ONE other typical retort they use that I forgot to mention. If you show even the slightest bit of irritation at their expressions of their "wit" or "banter" or their refusal to acknowledge any worth in any program but Alcoa's, they'll say.."gotcha" or "hey, look at the rise I got out of him!" As if it's all just a game to them...the subject matter of which just happens to be 14-18 year old boys working their tails off and doing their best, only to be judged "cupcakes" by some wisenheimer so he can belittle yet another team's strength of schudule.
  9. They (you know who they are) will tell you there's no disrespect, just good-natured banter and joking. Frankly, I think a lot of it crosses the line, but that's going to be their response. If you believe it crosses the line into disrespect and have the audacity to tell them so, they'll tell you that you are the one with the problem--you're too sensitive, or you have a latent "hatred" of Alcoa that shows through in your posts. And, they'll argue, even if they ARE being disrespectful, it's OK for them to do so because sooooo many other jealous, petty haters have been disrespectful or critical of Alcoa in the past. Those are the three different songs they sing; brace yourself for one of them, or some combination.
  10. I don't understand yours, either.
  11. I never kid myself because I don't understand my sense of humor.
  12. You hit the nail on the head. Defense--how well our defense plays--will be the key, and a timely turnover or two by Alcoa would certainly help CAK's chances.
  13. Wow. Which position do you play? By the way, you have several fellow Alcoa fans who evidently think this game is worth talking about or they wouldn't be spending so much mental energy coming up with witty cartoons to post on this site. Of course, they share your belief that Alcoa will win, and it probably will, but even they are not quite as dismissive of the opposition as you seem to be.
  14. Good for them! I bet they are glad the schedulers put a couple of "cupcakes" on Alcoa's menu this year. CAK's freshmen got to play in some of their games this year, so I guess those "cupcakes" do serve a purpose after all, eh?
  15. Is McMinn Central in the district?
  16. The enormity of the task facing CAK's D is even greater than that. Even if they stop Tehran or whatever the T-train's name is, Alcoa has three more backs to send barreling toward our D. More depth than I've ever seen in the backfield of any team at the HS level. Hard for anybody to stop. Our guys will give it their best shot I suppose.
  17. The hook is probably baited with cupcake. JD, did you notice that Stone Memorial wasn't denoted as a cupcake? How could that be? Oh, it's probably because Alcoa played them too, so they can't be a "cupcake." And when CAK "played up" against some 4A teams (Carter and Seymour) they were cupcakes too. Even Elizabethton is considered a cupcake! JD, would you consider Middlesboro HS (4-5), Fulton (5-4)(I think E'ton would beat FHS this year), or McMinn Central (0-9)to be "cupcakes?" They were on the Tornadoes' schedule. No, wait, I forgot, we don't call other teams names like that!
  18. CAK's D will have to play the game of their lives, but if they do, we might be able to hang with the Tornadoes. If they don't, well....
  19. Unfortunately, I suspect you have the margin of victory about right. Though I'm guessing neither team will score quite as much as you're predicting, but we'll see.
  20. He DIDN'T imply that CAK cheats. Just one of the less respectful Alcoa fans trying to get a rise out of somebody or start a fight.
  21. You mean a popcorn-eating emoticon doesn't, ipso facto, win any argument? Seriously...very nice post. You hit the nail right on the head.
  22. Yes, I did have a 'mater sandwich there, as well as many other places. And if you guys are nice to me, I guess I can take you out to eat sometime; I better start saving money now so I can afford it.
  23. Oh. A 'mater! My family roots go back to the 'mater mecca of the Western Hemisphere, Grainger Co.
