  1. I am surprised you are a fan of a team with "Christian" in the name because you certainly don't act like one. You need to get some class.
  2. He is the ENTIRE team, and we held them to 0 points in the 2nd half.
  3. No one, and I mean NO ONE on this post EVER underestimated TCA! That is pure nonsense! We were hoping to win, but we knew it would be a VERY tough game. It was! We just came up short. We held TCA to 0 points in the 2nd half. 0!! Our offense just couldn't get anything consistent going, and we needed one or two plays. We could have won, but we came up short on a play or two. That happens, but no one for Humboldt underestimated TCA. Give me a break!
  4. I hope so, too, and I hope we can pull out the win! This will be a very tough game for us. Go Vikings!!!!
  5. Wow! Almost game time!! Let's go Vikings! You've prepared well. Now it is time to transfer it to the field. The Viking family is proud of you, and we are all behind you! Go Vikings!!!!!
  6. I think these are the exact kinds of posts he is talking about.
  7. Go Vikings!!! I am ready for some football!!!!!! Go Big Red!!!!
  8. Okay! Here is another Viking fan! I love to watch those boys play and 2red...your son was running that fumble back fast to the endzone. The defensive line and linebackers have GOT to apply a lot of pressure to the QB this week! If they can get him rushing his throws, anything can happen. A snot knockers would also be great!!!!GoVikes!
  9. I like your positive attitude and enthusiasm! Go Vikings!
  10. Hope our (Humboldt) defense maintains their positions and executes. It is going to be a huge challenge to stop the TCA offense. You can't just focus on the pass because Washington and others can run. I am not saying Washington is Michael Vick (so don't yell at me about that...lol), but our team has to prepare like his opponent's do. He can take off and run. He is super quick, and TCA's offensive line is very good. So, our defense has to do what they are coached to do and not get out of position. They can't assume that if they get beat they can make up for it with speed. TCA has some speed, too, and the receivers run good routes. They have good hands, too. So, we have to be physical. In addition, there haven't been many (if any) teams that have been able to put their hands on Washington. When he runs out of the pocket he can avoid tacklers, can score, and/or can get out of bounds before being hit. That is quite a weapon for a defense to contend with. So, perhaps that will be the key. Being able to get to him? I believe TCA will score some points! The key will be our offense executing and getting points, too.
  11. Reading too much into it? lol. I don't believe we have to read anything into "TCA will be better coached and better prepared for this game." It is quite explicit. At any rate, we expect a tough game Friday night. I hope we can come out on top. Go Vikings!!
  12. Cardfan, good point. I believe you are right. Last year y'all held it almost the entire 3rd quarter, and this game we held it. Thanks for the well wishes. We hope to be able to contain TCA.
  13. It is funny you say that. We get criticized for running Quan too much. lol. Darned if you do. Darned if you don't. lol. Oh well. I personally enjoy seeing his tough runs more than the long runs. Now believe me. I enjoy seeing him run for 80 yard touchdowns! I can't lie. lol. What I mean by that is that I enjoy seeing him "want it" and striving for that extra yard or two. It shows his heart and desire to succeed. The truth is the further and further you go in the playoffs, the harder and harder it is to get those really long runs. The Adamsville game shows that. Y'all did a good job keeping those really long plays to a minimum. He, and the other runners, must be patient. Sometimes you have to take a four yard run here...a three yard run there....add them all up and you put together a good solid drive. That is what I am hoping we can do against TCA, but we know it will be a tough game, just like the Adamsville game was. I believe our team is full of players with heart and desire (as I know Adamsville did, too, and TCA will, too), and it is so good to see. Shepherd, Harris, Woods, Ward, Brooks, Wedley, Brittain, and on and on. Thank you for the kind words. Ya'll have a good football team. Both teams had penalties. I attribute ours (I hope) to rustiness. Having that bye week is not always the best thing. We certainly can't have those penalties next week, but again, I hope it was rust. TCA has an excellent passing and running game! If you focus on the pass only, they will hurt you with the run. So, we have our work cut out for us. I believe in Humboldt. I hope we pull out the win. How are the two players doing? I believe I saw in an earlier post that the first injured player is ok. Is that right? What about the second injured player?
  14. Better coaching? No! We at Humboldt have an outstanding staff. I will not say we are better than TCA. I respect coaches, and all work hard to prepare. Second, we at Humboldt don't believe for a moment that Washington can only run. I am not sure where you are getting your information. Humboldt staff and players are WELL aware that TCA can throw the ball, too. That is what they are known for, along with the exceptional receivers in Yates and Hansen. There is no fooling us here. No "rude awakening" would be possible because we know what TCA is capable of. TCA can run AND throw. We have to figure out a way to stop both (if possible) and the players have to execute. Third, I don't know where the information is coming from that we are big. Humboldt is not a big team by any means. Adamsville was A LOT bigger than us, as was Milan, Henry County, Greenfield, etc. We are outsized in most instances. What keeps us in ballgames is intensity, toughness, physicalness, etc. As for saying Humboldt is more "athletic"....let's be honest. We all know what that really means. It means Humboldt is athletic but TCA (or insert any other team you want here) is smarter, more disciplined, better coached, blah blah blah. TCA has PLENTY of athletes and we all know it. Humboldt has athletes. We all know it. Both teams have a great coaching staff. Both teams have tough players. Both have players that want to win. Both teams are good football teams. They are very different in their styles of play. That is what it boils down to. So this is not a post to compare who is better, more athletic, better coached or any of that other nonsense. Both teams are good. I, of course, want Humboldt to win, but I know it will be a VERY TOUGH challenge. TCA is an excellent football team. I hope we can come out on top.
  15. Well, Humboldt thanks you for the poster material. (With crossed fingers that we can get past TCA because we know they will be a very tough opponent)
  16. Perhaps I am misunderstanding your post. Are you saying that if you beat Riverside, you will be in Cookeville? If so, aren't you forgetting about TCA/Humboldt? If not, disregard this post because it means I misunderstood you.
  17. Washington, Yates, Hanson, etc, are going to be INCREDIBLY tough for the Vikings. They throw the ball all over the place, and that is difficult for any secondary, especially with as good as TCA is. Plus, if you try to take away the throw, Washington and teammates can run it. In addition, TCA's special teams are very good. Hope Humboldt comes with the "A" game because we will need it. Go Vikings!
  18. A little over 17 versus Henry County, Milan, Lake Co and McKenzie.....
  19. Just so you know, Humboldt had a BYE last week and was ranked 8th before the BYE and will probably be 7 or 8 again after this week. It appears that the quads are all going to end up with two district winners, two runner-ups and two wild cards. You want to read a lot into the wildcard ratings, but the truth is you get no credit for playing tougher competition. Humboldt lost to Henry County, Milan and McKenzie (the last one by 3 points with a TD called back). They won their district with an undefeateed record. I agree that Westwood as a district winner and an automatic bid is questionable since they only have three teams in their district. It is what it is. Champions play the tough competition and win. The state champs will most likely come out of Quad 2 or Quad 3. That is what everyone on the boards are saying. So why are you all crying?
  20. Does anyone see a change in the 2A projection based on last night's games?
  21. Had to work all weekend so haven't been able to add anything to this board. Vikings and Colts won this weekend. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. I missed the Colts game last night because I had to work, but thank God for Tivo!! As for the McKenzie Humboldt game, hope Humboldt plays well and can pull out the win. Everyone have a blessed week.
  22. I have supported Humboldt for a long long time, but not telling my age! lol. The question you ask has an answer that is way too long for a post here. I just try to be positive about Humboldt and the kids, and it upsets me to see such a lack of support. It is easy to be negative and criticize. The hard part is supporting, guiding, and teaching. We just need more people from within the community to get involved in the everyday, mundane, and tedious aspects of the students' lives. We should all be cheering and encouraging the successes more than we do.
  23. You are absolutely right! It definately makes a huge difference. Against Henry County and Milan our team just got worn down. SF has nothing to be ashamed of though. It is a solid football team. That big runner hurts defenders, and the qb has a very good arm. At the end of the first half he was picking us apart. As a long time supporter of Humboldt I have seen Humboldt change in many ways. If people knew Humboldt even 15 years ago and moved away, they'd be shocked to know that the school is down to approximately 400 students now.
