  1. As bad as I hate to say it, I think McMinn's downhill slide continues this week. Soddy Daisy with the win at home.
  2. Per this morning's Chattanooga Times Free Press, "In 5-AAA, Bradley Central has five wins and is likely to get into Class 6A field. If the Bears beat East Hamilton tonight, they're in for sure. If they lose, there's a chance. McMinn County also has a shot at the 6A bracket, but a win over Ooltewah would greatly enhance the Cherokees' chances. Ooltewah, meanwhile, needs to beat McMinn County to clinch a share of the district title. The Owls are a win behind idle Cleveland and tied with East Hamilton. Those three Class 5A teams will be in the postseason, but tonight's games will decide the champ. If East Hamilton and Ooltewah win, then Ooltewah would win the district championship based on overall victories and East Hamilton would be second because of its win over Cleveland. If McMinn County and East Hamilton win, East Hamilton gets the championship based on a better district record than the Owls and a 21-20 win over Cleveland."
  3. 5-AAA games on tap for Friday 10/11. Let's hear your picks. Bradley @ Cleveland (Rivalry game for bragging rights in county) McMinn @ East Hamilton ('Kees going to play spoiler rest of schedule? Upset alert?) Walker Valley @ Ooltewah (Will WV show up, or will Owls show out?) Former 5-AAA member Rhea Co. @ Soddy Daisy (Since moving districts, Rhea has stepped up their game) Good luck to all teams Friday night!

    Pick'em

Definitely a tale of two halves! Second half formation adjustment by MC was just what SD needed to work their way back into match. SD clearly wanted the W more in second period. End result was a much needed W for MC, but don't think it was the textbook way to get it!

    Pick'em

According to my source, Bradley was up for 30 minutes on Cleveland in 2nd half. Cleveland woke up and started firing away to score two. Cleveland 3 Bradley 2 final.
  6. There is an opening for the 2013 McMinn County Girl's Invitational Tournament the weekend of September 28th - 29th. A team had to drop which created this opening. Teams participating are: Cookeville, Seymour, Halls, Cumberland County, and McMinn County. Contact Coach Brittany Hart at bhamock@hotmail.com for information.
  7. Can't really complain about any of these comments made previously. The Cherokees haven't played well in what is most definitely a down season so far. Will say that I saw some improvement against Alcoa from the previous week's loss to Cleveland. Still, a lot of work remains in what is already a brutal schedule. My prediction: Oak Ridge with the "W".
  8. There's still some of us that are wondering the same thing.....not sure what happened at Cleveland. Played to 0-0 at end of regulation. First OT period yielded a McMinn goal. Second OT period saw Cleveland tie up with a goal. Went to PKs where both goalies made a couple of saves. Went to sudden death and Cleveland found the back of the net first. Guess we'll see how the Cherokees rebound tonight against East Hamilton in Athens.
  9. Indicators point to a no answer, based on the last two weeks' performances. Agree with fooseball96...not a terrible team; lost a lot of skilled position and line talent from last year. Also playing a very demanding schedule on top of all the above. Hopefully Coach Cagle and company can get things headed in the right direction.
  10. Seems to be a recurring theme...maybe something there....
  11. Coach Cagle was quoted as saying, "There isn't a single phase of the game I can say anything good about and that's disappointing. We just didn't execute on either side of the ball. I don't know if there's such a thing as a recipe for disaster, but that might be it." I hope that Cagle and staff can drastically alter the recipe that will allow the players to at least make better decisions during the game. If ya ssssmmmmeeeeelllllll, what the Tribe desperately wants to be cookin (and that's a better showing Friday night)! StarsNBars: Thanks for the kind words about the facilities. There was some discussion in the stands last Friday about whether the horse and rider would make an appearance after past rides resulted in a thrown rider and spooked horse. Glad to see both made it just fine last week.
  12. Have to say that agree 100% with both comments. McMinn's schedule is brutal this year especially given the fact that they lost so much on both offensive and defensive sides of the ball to graduation. As a Cherokee alum, I'm hoping that Coach Cagle and staff will rally the players and try to not let them get down on themselves throughout the course of a tough schedule. Here's hoping for safe play for all Friday night!
  13. OK, let's hear what everyone thinks about this match up Friday night.
  14. I see a lot of LONG Friday nights in the foreseeable future for the Cherokees this season!
