  1. Can anyone explain the selection criteria for this group, especially as it relates to the punter. There were two punters from the Chattanooga area (both 2A) who had season averages at least 4 yards better than the punter who was selected. Just curious... Go Bucs!
  2. 1. Vinnie 2. Phil 3. Brett 4. Tyler 5. Rock 6. Taylor 7. Ross 8. Andrew 9. Hayden 10. Trey
  3. This year's team had ten seniors, all starting most of the season. Other than their leadership, the biggest void left by them will be in the linebacker corp.
  4. Good Luck Tonight BUCS...It Can Be Done!
  5. ...been hearing the same thing from some friends of mine whose boys play for McCallie...just waiting on SM's season to end for the final details / announcement.
  6. Treetop...exactly what I was thinking...
  7. Insanity, that's good to hear. I've seen Jeremy play and know he can be a force, but I had heard that this year's team was short on numbers and small inside. Glad to hear your report!
  8. That's good but what are you hearing that makes you say this year's team will be a better one?
  9. Clarence...I'm just curious...how do you know so much about Rhea County and Coach Horton?
  10. ...sounds like last night must have been a great game. If we weren't still playing I'd have been there myself. To any Trousdale fans...how did this year's team compare to last year's team. Just trying to get a feel for next week.
  11. Just to be safe...I'll try to stay away from discussing the coaches and focus on the players - we've got some good ones.
  12. buc55...while I appreciate your sentiment about curtailing the negative comments, I do wish to point out that none of mine have been about individual players as you mention in your post (and I agree with that!). My concerns have been directed solely at the coaching staff who should be held accountable for this team's struggle to reach their full potential (your words). We should be able to express those sort of opinions on a message board such as this. If I was going to compare last year's senior class to this year's (as you brought up), I wouldn't focus on the quality of the class; instead, I would note the difference in quantity (17 last year versus 9 this year). Regardless of the numbers difference, though, I believe this year's class fights hard every play as well. To wrap up, I'll go back to my theme throughout all my posts...this year's coaching staff is much different from last years and is the biggest obstacle this year's team has to overcome. I do have confidence, though, that this year's team does have the fortitude to stay together and the ability to play well enough to beat Copper Basin and make a move in the playoffs. Again, I do appreciate and agree with your reason for making your post and thank you. Go Bucs!
  13. Does anyone on here from Boyd know why we're having senior night at Finley instead of at our home field? I hear many of the senior players (and parents!) aren't very happy and can't get an explanation from Grant.
  14. Without question the Bucs are in the wrong offense. To make matters worse, they are using the wrong personnel and calling ridiculous plays. But, to go on would only be beating a dead horse - nothing's going to change this year. I would like to know who's coaching the offensive line. When are we ever going to start putting our 300 pounders in a stance that takes so much of their weight off their heels and puts it instead on their leading hand. The first motion on a running play for a lineman should not be straight up. Go Bucs!
  15. BUCDADDY...I can't say that Boyd will get beat this week...I just can't say that. I do have to agree, though, with just about everything else you have stated. There appears to be a lot of turmoil to go along with the poor coaching of the offense, and it's almost as if Grant has checked out this season. We are playing the wrong style of offense, and we are using the wrong quarterback. The one we need is playing wide receiver. I've seen this kid play - he's a great passer. If you're correct about #1 playing the whole game, he'd better have a good game. The fans are not going to be patient this week. Go Bucs!
  16. Reaction, I was at the game and am happy to report that the boys played with a lot of heart and effort. The team they were playing was better than the record indicated. I am sorry to say that our offensive coaching staff is still at a loss on play calling. I had been hoping to see an improvement this year but am starting to lose hope. All year I've been impressed with our defensive coaching, but the other night something was amiss. The quarterback had all night to look for a reciever; yet we hardly ever rushed more than four people. Extra pressure should have been applied at some point. Anyway, maybe we'll see our coaching rise to the level of our boys' effort this week. If so we'll see a Buc win. Go Bucs!
  17. I don't know anything about Marion County, but I do believe the Bucs can win this football game. Their effort last week proves they have the heart to make this a successful season. Hopefully they will keep in mind that they've won the games this year they were supposed to win, and other than SPitt, they have played well in the games they've lost. These last two games are certainly winnable if the team stays focused (and if the coaches find their way). Go Bucs!
  18. I was at the game last night and must say I was proud of the effort and fortitude displayed by the Bucs. They played hard throughout the game, even after it started slipping away. PJPII is a better team than their record would indicate. I was also very impressed with the Buc fans; they were into the game much better than last week. Hopefully the pieces will start falling in place this week so these boys can finish the season strong. Go Bucs!
  19. HowiePirate, although not a level I would classify as appalling, you were correct in noticing a drop in enthusiasm from the Buc fans last Friday night. Most of us did realize that was not going to be a good game for us, but the real issue is a large measure of disapointment / frustration in our coaching this year. Not only did we lose many good seniors from last year, but we also lost many good coaches. This year's additions are still struggling with their approach, especially on the offensive side of the ball. This would have been a good year for Coach Reynolds to have found the leadership needed to guide these new coaches and young players through this challenging season. Unfortunately he has not found this and does not have the respect of the players.
  20. This week provides another chance to work on all phases of the offense. We've shown improvement with the passing game and getting outside so let's not revert back to running between the tackles this week just becasue we can against this opponent. Use this game as preparation for some down the road. By the way, the defense and special teams continue to look good and improve. Go Bucs!
  21. Most likely we should be able to run up the middle against Grace, which we obviously like to do. Instead of doing this, though, we need to use this game as an opportunity to improve our passing game and find ways to utilize our speed on the outside. This deficiency has shown up against better teams and will continue against CB, MC, and SP if we don't improve. Go Bucs!
  22. Tough loss for the Bucs...played extemely hard but had too much reflection of the Red Bank game...burned deep, critical turnovers, and questionable play calling. The steady dose of offensive "3 and outs" left the defensive completely gassed in the 4th quarter. We have got to find offensive balance in the next two games. This team can be pretty good, but the issues above must be corrected.
  23. Offensively, I thought the play calling and use of personnel was much improved at Silverdale. I do believe we must continue to improve in the passing game, though, to give our line some help as they're still struggling with run blocking. Does anyone know about Vinnie's status? Defensively, another good effort by those guys. Silverdale's QB had a good arm but never got over the top of our secondary. Speaking of our secondary, how about that #2 when he got in the game. He's a big hitter who can help with run support and make receivers think twice about coming across the middle! Special teams looked much improved with #24 handling placekicking. The other guy is great on kick-offs but had struggled with PATs. Punt protection was better, but Howard will be a better test. One last thing...did anyone hear about Silverdale's coach screaming at our coaches after we threw for that last touchdown. A friend of mine from work said it was a pretty aggressive outburst. Go Bucs!
  24. With this being another down year for Silverdale, everything the Bucs do tonight should work well. Still, it will be interesting to monitor the personnel choices and offensive philosophy. We need to really flush out last week's problems as we have some decent teams coming up soon. Go Bucs!
  25. footballrox, I can assure you last Friday night there were several fans who were ready to do just that.
