  1. Farragut takes Collierville with a great come from behind win. Down 3-0 after the 1st, then 3-2. Collierville retakes the lead 4-2, Farragut again ties it at 4. Collierville takes the lead again 6-4. Farragut ties in the 7th. Delmonico pitches a zero in the bottom.......then to extra innings. Farragut has 2 on and 2 out with Delmonico up. Colliierville decides to pitch to him......3 run blast and Delmonico strikes out the side for the BIG win.
  2. Pfeifer pitched against Maryville 3 times this year. - Mar 16: Farragut 4-0 - Apr 13: Maryville 2-1 (The 2 runs were unearned. Right fielder dropped a fly ball with 2 out and 2 on letting the 2 runners score) - May 9: Farragut 5-1 (Pfeifer pitched 6 shutout innings, relief pitcher gave up the 1 run) In 3 games against Maryville Pfeifer has not given up an earned run. If Pfeifer does pitch against Maryville, I'll take Farragut.
  3. You can't rule out Columbia. Horne, one of TN's best HS pitchers, will go against Maryville. Good test for them if they can beat 2 of the best pitchers in a row. If they can they will be in the mix. Farragut will have to grind it out without Pfeifer. Taylor is very good, Chandler can be good or not so good, and after that there are many questions.
  4. prepxtra: Jesse Smithey Farragut baseball coach Matt Buckner said "slim chance" at Philip Pfeifer pitching this week. MRI results come tomorrow.
  5. Soddy Daisy has an excellent baseball team as does Farragut. Taylor will probably pitch for Farragut. I think it will be a close game and be decided by 1 or 2 runs. All 8 teams are capable of winning state. The team that gets hot will be the winner. I predict either Mt Juliet, Collierville or Columbia if Pfeifer doesn't pitch. You need 3 good starters to go all the way.
  6. If Pfeifer is okay to pitch the only way you will see him tonight is in relief for an inning if he is needed. My guess is Chandler will start. If he can pitch the way he did earlier in the season it will be a close low scoring game.
  7. From Knoxville News Sentinel: "Senior Philip Pfeifer, one of the nation’s top prospects, exited after pitching the first inning. Pfeifer earlier missed a month of the season with arm troubles. “Something was not feeling right in his arm,†said Buckner. “He’s hurting … he wouldn’t come out unless he was hurting.†Buckner said Pfeifer is questionable for the sectional game. “Friday is probably not an option. That would be my guess.†Farragut just may will have to do it without Pfeifer.
  8. It seems that both coacht & TSSAA are wrong. Both Farragut & Maryville believe it is at Maryvills. "Maryville (29-11) gets a rematch with the Admirals on Wednesday at MC for what would be a rare region title for the Rebels. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m."
  9. Not sure now where the Farragut/Maryville game will be played. Both TSSAA and Coacht have Farragut as the home team. Region 2 Host..........Visitor Farragut......Maryville ...... R2AAA http://tssaa.org/2010Champions/StateBaseball/ClassAAA/Region.htm
  10. Pfeifer was taken out because his arm felt a little tight due to the cold weather. He should be fine for his next start. Xander Taylor looked real good over the next 4 innings. Hardin Valley's only run scored without a hit.
  11. Maryville is an excellent baseball team, well coached, plays smart and has a solid defense. They look confident and play as a team. One additional Farragut thought.......even if the other starters (excluding Taylor) could hold the opposition to 6-7 runs they are not hitting (except for Miller & Delmonico) and can not out slug the opposition. Hitting has been inconsistent leaving many runners in scoring position every game. Some players consistently looking at strike three at a ball thrown down the middle of the plate. Many mental (baserunning, covering bases, etc. and physical errors. It almost seems that they have lost confidence and are playing scared. The coach needs to get them going. Get in their faces and if anyone isn't ready to give it their all, sit him down. If they play close to their potential they will win their fourth state championship in a row. I have no doubt about that.
  12. I heard that Xander Taylor (Farragut's #2 pitcher) is hurt and could not pitch against Maryville. He last started against Science Hill against Norris. If Taylor can't pitch, and the way Chandler has pitched in his last few games, it will be difficult to win state. Pfeifer could win the Region semi and then sectional but will need help in state. Unfortunately for Farragut he can't pitch every game.
  13. I heard Pfeifer has arm problems that effected his command against Maryville. He has been shut down for the next couple of weeks. Chandler, Taylor & Co. will have to carry the load by themselves until, and hopefully, he's back in time for the District tournament. I believe Knox County has boundaries for school attendance ......kids do not have a choice unless they move. Not sure why any potential middle school baseball player would not want to play for a 3peat state champion.
  14. Yes, a big win for a very good Maryville team. Pfeifer did not allow an earned run. He gave up 3 hits and had 11 strike outs over 6 innings. Maryville won 2-1 when the right fielder dropped a fly ball with 2 on and 2 out. As Yogi said "Most games are not won, they are lost."
  15. Games have apparantly started and the "Farragut Admiral Kessler's Classic Tournament" schedule page has still not been updated. If anyone knows the final schedule for today please post.
  16. Upset.... Farragut 34-31 No stopping the bowling ball
  17. Before Maryville thinks too far ahead they still have to beat a better Farragut team that only lost to them by 7 points earlier, and an undefeated DB team. There maybe an unset on the horizon.
  18. Farragut came in 2nd place in the district......Bearden 4th Farragut had a 5-2 district record.....Bearden 4-3 Farragut beat Bearden in district play Farragut's 3 non district opponents were 23-7....Bearden's 13-17 All 3 of Farragut's non-district opponents are in the playoffs....1 of Bearden's Bearden is seeded 4th in Quad 1 playing at home....Farragut is seeded 6th playing away. What a system.........It seems TSSAA is telling teams to play the weakest opponents for their non-district games to get a better seeding in the playoffs.
  19. It really doesn't matter who is in quad #2 or #3. Either Maryville or DB will win it all.
  20. Ads really banged up.....QB out, 2 RB's out, DB out....LB out. They still had enough last week for an emotional win over Lenoir City and with 2nd place in the district a possibility (Bearden beats Catholic) if they win, they will by 28 - 14.
  21. Cody Rule is out for the season with a torn ACL. King is the QB. It will be a different look offence.
