  1. It must be a quiet week across the coachT boards...someone's fishing for a little controversy! Where does this comment even come from DevilMan?
  2. The coaches at EHS still let the kids do their chanting before the game because it gets them fired up. They have instructed the players to move away from the 50 yard line though so it doesn't seem like a taunt. For those that don't understand, the chant started a few years ago during a conference game when Coach Witten told the players that they needed to "run their own ship." He was trying to get them to dictate their own style of play and not settle into allowing the opponent to decide how the game would be played.
  3. Private this ....opened-zoned that....who cares? Let's line up and play football! I can't wait for Friday!
  4. Thanks GDA. It's all in good fun on here. Maybe our rivalry gets renewed in the playoffs next year!
  5. Does anyone know what station will be carrying it locally?
  6. ...or the year my wife won a pool of 100 people by picking teams based on their relative location to places where she has family living! LOL!
  7. Does anyone know if CAK will be bringing a student/fan bus or anything? I really hope so. These two teams deserve to play in front of a packed house. It's so much more fun when the crowd's into it.
  8. Thanks for clearing that up. I was curious about that. Why did they have 8 non-starters starting that game?
  9. I completely agree that CAK will adjust and make some plays...here's hoping that if EHS can befuddle the high powered passing game a couple times that it will be enough! I see a shootout in the works!
  10. I'm not sure, but I do know that if Stone Memorial (2 wins) can rush for 384 and only throw it five times, then I feel fairly confidant in saying that Elizabethton can gain some yardage on the ground. If you take the four main runners for Elizabethton (28,7, 9, 20) and look only at their rushing stats, then you've got 3,852 yards on 484 carries. That's an average of 7.96 yards per carry, and the team is averaging 318 per game on the ground. Now, who knows if that translates into a win against an extremely good CAK team? That can only be decided on Friday night. But, if I'm a gambling man, I still put my money on EHS gaining some yards on the ground. You talked about the quarterback runs being easy to read...he only runs after 28, 7, and 20 have started pounding. Usually by that time, it doesn't take an amazing fake to get the defense to begin chasing after them. Elizabethton doesn't depend on the QB runs to get the bulk of their yards, it's just a nice change of pace once teams start trying to tee off on the backs. http://www.unapproved website.com/contests/Fn-8B-eCykSlGw-q4z7T6A/football-fall-12/boxscore-christian-academy-of-knoxville-knoxville-vs-stone-memorial-crossville.htm http://www.unapproved website.com/high-schools/elizabethton-fighting-cyclones-%28elizabethton,tn%29/football/stats.htm
  11. Ridgewood! It's actually a little outside of Elizabethton, but it's close enough that it's definitely worth the trip. My stomach just rumbled a little bit thinking about it!
  12. Here's wishing safe travels for all those heading over from Bloomingdale. This is the only playoff game this side of Knoxville this week...let's hope for a huge turnout. These teams deserve a huge crowd with great atmosphere!
  13. Prediction time: Call me crazy, and this might tick off a few North fans, but I don't think this will be that close. I think Elizabethton has gotten much better from the first meeting. They were just figuring out their identity...now, they've had 8 weeks to hone that identity. I think not having to worry about 42 in the passing game allows the dominant Betsy defense to tee off on the running game. EHS: 31 North: 14
  14. Good luck, Vikings. Keep playing hot and make Region 1 proud!
  15. He is in great shape. I would just worry about never getting him off the field as the games begin to get a little more physically demanding. I definitely agree with 33 and 44. Both those guys have been making special teams plays all year.
  16. I agree with the kickoff team. The only one I'm not sure about is 67. He plays so much both ways that kickoff is one of the few breaks he gets.
  17. As well as these two teams know each other, there shouldn't be any big surprises on the field. With that being said, what do you guys see as the keys to this one? (I'm trying to get a little talk going...this board is pretty quiet.) The way I see it, the key for an EHS win is stopping Rowe's runs. I think he keys their entire offense. Not taking anything away from North's other backs, but if 7 can be neutralized, the others just aren't as effective. If North is going to win, I think they have to tackle Thomas. When he can get rolling and pick up big yards, it lets EHS use Turner on defense (which is definitely needed).
  18. Dang! Lots of name-calling and mud-slinging going on here. How about if we all practice a little respect and just agree that Elizabethton and Greeneville have both emerged and teams to watch every year from northeast Tennessee? Combined, these two teams have a record of 86-24 with 30 playoff games in the last four years. That's saying something in my eyes. Yes, Greeneville has two gold balls and a silver to go with it. No, Elizabethton has not beaten Alcoa yet. But, come on guys...how about if we congratulate each other the rise of our programs and be happy that some local teams are finally getting some respect across the state and finally making the eastern half of the state respectable in terms of football once again.
  19. If CAK wins then the winner of the EHS/North game will host the semi-final because CAK is a 3-seed while EHS is a 1-seed and North is a 2-seed.
  20. I posted about #40 Luke Blanton from Elizabethton earlier in this thread. Here's a little video evidence for you. Watch the film clip from a local news show. The "Hit of the Night" is the first highlight they will show. http://www2.wjhl.com...t-1-ar-2351479/
  21. This game could fly by on Friday. The way both of these teams like to run the ball, the clock might not stop much! Hey RaiderDad, I know that #42 was a big part of North's passing game when they did try to throw it, has anyone replaced him in that phase of the game?
  22. Prediction time: I think Betsy's ground game is too much for GP to handle. EHS: 31 GP: 14
