  1. Lol, no these coaches don't think everyone should win, or that we need more divisions and or love the TSSAA. My opinion, two division--large and small. Just want their high school wrestlers treated with respect and keep subjects to wrestling versus an adult's extra curriculars.
  2. No problem taking heat from BCB's forum friends. Getting thank you's from others that can't and don't want their teams or wrestlers under the bus. I know respected coaches and parents looking forward to BCB's retirement and who don't like the rhetoric. Sure he has added color to the forum, but too much as you said "crude and unrefined" and I will add inappropriate. Not a hater, but ready to say "goodbye". Everyone has their opinion.
  3. Keep trying, we have gone from "reluctant" to "relivant", third time is the charm. I believe your looking for "relevant". Which high school did you graduate from? Just playing, but when you call people out and cross the line which BCB did (again), parents especially will get upset.
  4. Touchy, should have said southeast TN? Technically, Soddy and Hixson are not in Chatt either.
  5. Suggest reading posts before you reply, I did not bring his son into it. Actually complimented the forum for not doing so after BCB has repeatedly taken shots at their kids.
  6. Just waiting with many others to celebrate your goodbye! Did not want you to leave without knowing there is a silent majority that don't appreciate your poor humor or uneducated comments about their wrestlers.
  7. Predictions: D1 Soddy Daisy vs. Cleveland in the finals with a Soddy win Soddy has a strong lineup top to bottom, making them a load for the competition. D2 Father Ryan vs. CBHS in the finals with an FR win Father Ryan has improved significantly in the lower weights from the beginning of the year. No secret that the mid and upper weights are strong, but the sophomores and freshmen down low are a surprise story here. Small school: Chatt Central vs. Hixson in the finals with a Chatt Central upset. This should be some great wrestling. Two of the three finals are likely to be all-Chatt rivalries. With the best from the center and west represented in D2. No one leaves town a loser, no one with their tail between their legs, no sarcasm about prior state champions, nhsca placers or all americans. This may be one of the best state dual years with tightly contested semi-final and finals matches. I can see several other teams having a good shot. Should be a fun weekend due to the hardwork of a lot of coaches, wrestlers, and don't forget parents!
  8. "dumbass" really. Again, very impressive. All I want from you is the goodbye post and then you can go back to attacking kids on another forum, chasing mothers, getting hammered or any of the other inappropriate things you have blessed us with. Just do it somewhere else and this can be a productive forum about TN wrestling and, yes, with predictions from people that actually have some idea of what their talking about. By the way, i have been talking with coaches and I know several that just want you to go away.
  9. Bcb, I have been reading your posts for a year or so now and what i really don't understand is why anyone takes a small school daddy's predictions so seriously? The division you should know, you bombed on predicting. The green over the "C", right, and all that chatter about the "C's" mommies? Ha, ha, lol, great pick. Who's your daddy now? Let's hear from others that actually have a dog in the fight. I have noticed from your posts that you take shots at high schoolers, very impressive. What is cool is that no one takes a shot back at your son. Congratulations to the folks on this forum for demonstrating character that you lack. In other states that is not always the case. With your son graduating, does that mean you will be retiring from this forum at the end of the season? That will be a post worth reading. "Its with great sadness that I bequeath my charm and low character to, blah, blah." Hopefully, the others in Nashville this weekend with some vested interest will have a good time and their predictions will come true.
  10. Big wins by the "Austins", congrats to Cleveland!
  11. Agreed, I am sticking with earlier prediction red over blue by 9-10 pts. Trublu2 worked it out with McCallie winning, but had to pick a pretty big upset at 171 to make the numbers work.
  12. Should be a fun time at McCallie on Friday. I plan to be there! Not a Red fan, but expect them to be back at close to full speed this Friday with a lineup including Murphy, Powell, Eady, Watson, Brunner, Popp, Clements, Cate, Huff, Craig, Bodine, Norred, Seaburg and Payne. Also don't rule out Holloway making his first appearance of the season. With that lineup, Baylor is my favorite to repeat.
  13. In Hoc, not arguing whether ironman55 is a purple hater, but you are on the opposite side on this one. Your love and history with the purple and blindness to the "new" reality of the FR tournament are impacting your post. The GP West tournament was a tougher tournament with higher ranked teams this year. Simple math, GP West had the #1, #4, #9, and #11 ranked teams in the state plus last year's KY state champs (Union County team). FR Invitational had #2, #10, #12 and #13 and Auburn, AL is not the quality of UNC. Hopefully, FR tournament can get some of the teams back from the past that you probably remember and competed against like McCallie, Baylor, CBHS, Clarksville, Mater Dei, or add someone new to improve the field.
  14. Grillz, 138 lbs was decided today at Brentwood with Ward of McCallie getting the victory over Woods of Franklin. That should adjust your predictions above to 9 weight classes in which D2 has the top wrestler, 4 for D2 does and a toss at HWT.
  15. Best bet--focus on number of state participants and high schools. TN has more wrestlers and teams per division than KS. A knowledgeable wrestling person will argue quality is what really drives difficulty in winning a state championship--they'll be right. That point is definitely in KS favor--better results national tournaments, head to head state teams, ncaa qualifiers and ncaa AA's. Good luck!
  16. Pretty funny, but doubt that is the real problem. Several all boys schools in TN and other states that don't appear to have the same issues.
  17. Agreed. This one should be Pope vs. Cleveland in the finals with Pope taking home the championship.
  18. Really Top 10? Maybe a better thread would be does any region in TN have 10 referees that someone actually likes? If so, I need to move there. I can't get past about 3 or 4 in our region.
  19. Should be a great match! 8 points seems like a pretty ridiculous line even for a Chattanooga homer! roflol: We'll see. Hopefully, sooner than later.
  20. Had to adjust the earlier order due to the Nick Marable's Gold Medal at the 2011 Pan American Games.... Best TN wrestlers ever: 1. Bill Harlow - 1966 NCAA Div. 1 Champion, NCAA Div. 1 runner up 1964 & 1965, 3x NCAA Div. 1 All American, 2010 recipient of OSU's Gallagher Award, runner-up at the 1970 world championships in Edmonton, Canada, State Champion and National High School prep champion, high school wrestling coach for over 40 years. 2. Jordan Leen - 2008 NCAA Div.1 Champion, 3x NCAA Div. 1 All American, 3x NCAA Div. Academic All American, 4x TN State Champion, Senior Nationals Champion, was the winningest high school wrestler ever in TN until this year (Alex Manley now has the record). ESPN Commentator 2010 NCAA tournament, currently an assistant coach at Duke University. 3. Nick Marable - 2x NCAA Div. 1 All American, 3rd place freestyle 2010 US World Team Trials, runner up freestyle 2011 US Open, Gold Medal freestyle 2011 Pan American Games, 2x TN State High School Champion, Cadet Freestyle National Champion, currently strength and conditioning coach Univ. of Missouri. 4. Phillip Simpson - 2005 NCAA Div. 1 runner up, 3x NCAA Div.1 All-american (2003-2005), 7th Place freestyle 2011 U.S. Open, 4x TN State champ, National high school runner-up, member of US Army World Class Athlete program.
  21. D2 titles are outstanding accomplishments, but generally not at the level of D1 champions or all americans. Just my opinion, but I think this is supported by off season and open tournament results. Consequently Waylon while a great representative for TN wrestling did not make my top 4.
  22. 2. 23. It was ynotme, a Baylor fan, that was espousing the greatness of the program and someone else corrected them on the open weight class statement. Then ynotme decided to correct them by explaining the school's "viable" wrestler policy. Probably a good thing that up and coming 8th graders and parents with a goal for 5 state championships are aware up front to allow them to head straight to another school, if that's there choice. I was having a little fun with it, but it is good information for 8th graders and others to know...
  24. Nothing bad said or intended towards Zach. He will likely be another five time state champion and is very deserving of his accolades!!!! The earlier post was directed at what seems like a subjective and easily adapted policy. The questions would never have been raised, but what appears to be a Baylor supporter used the term "not viable". I don't like using the term "not viable" or its tone with regards to a high school wrestler. In the end, no program or coach is above being asked questions about their policies and actions especially when they appear inconsistent or wrong.
  25. Its a good question. I know when I wrestled against Baylor in high school, the guys always seemed of the "viable" variety because they always seemed pretty good. I probably should have lost weight to catch one of the lower weights that might have previously been deemed "not viable". This assumes of course that viable or non viable is based on talent which may or may not be correct, I guess.
