  1. Guys who are the three. No harm in that unless they are current head coaches at a local school and they are in fear that it will cause friction for there present employer. We are all anxious to debate how good, bad or indifferent the reported chosen three are. I will go ahead and throw out a couple I believe showed interest, got an interview and have a shot at the job. Drew Aiken - good pedigree, dad very we'll known in the area probably weighs a lot. Tony Webb- head coach Lookout Valley- been one if not the most loyal guy to a program in our surrounding area. Would add a ton of stability to Central which is the number 1 thing they need and the guys a winner.
  2. If Heritage ends up hiring Grider I can assure you that's it's not cause Slaughter turned it down. It would because they delayed the hiring to interview Grider. Now I'm not a rocket scientist but we can all see what would auld happen with that scenerio! Grider or Slaughter, Grider or Slaughter uh it's not that hard of a choice people. Either way we should no something about heritage for sure after Christmas.
  3. Throw the names out that you know have applied we are all curious to see who some are. So we have Rickey Ross, Drew Akins, Tony Webb, Dan Duff, Craig Campbell, And might as well add EK Slaughter, Vic Grider and Houston White. So let's hear what you got guys.
  4. As we have all learned lately it's not to late even if he is announced as the new coach somewhere else. The powers to be needs to get these guys on the horn and quit dragging feet. If you want a good coach go get him it's not that hard guys.
  5. If your referring to Rick Ross from GA. He would be a great asset to Central he has been around Championship caliber teams so he knows what it takes to get there. Central is close enough to his wife's people in Marion County and Hamilton County pays more and year in and year out he would have more athletes to work with so to me it's a no brainer. If he has applied Finley needs to give the guy an interview.
  6. Why would Heritage want to bring in Slaughter? They just got rid of one average coach to bring in another average coach? That makes no sense. I would take my chances with an unproven assistant before I hired this guy.
  7. Pounder I have no idea if he applied or not but you guys need to give Tony Webb from Lookout Valley a look. I know your thinking he's from a small school and we want a big flashy name. Look at Tonys body of work since his time at LV. And you guy also need to realize that he has done what he has with very little to no resources and low numbers. The one thing that I preached that Central needs is stability name me 3 coaches from within 30 miles that have the tenure at one school that Tony does. He stayed loyal to one school for 12 or 13 years that's unheard of now days. His style of play would fit perfect with the kids at Central and he is a very personable and friends, easy to deal with fellow. Why no bigger programs hasn't jumped on him before now is unbelievable. He may have no interest but if they don't at least ask his interest they are missing the boat.
  8. I've heard the son your speaking about is a good coach and he has worked with the kinda kids Central has. I don't know him that well but from all accounts was raised in a Football family so he is more than likely gonna carry him self pretty well. Now can he motivate I have no idea but I know he has been around very successful programs. The concern with this young man would be he has never been a head coach so is he worth taking a chance on? Who knows. The good thing is that he would probably be there for awhile
  9. I don't personally know Gann but I would say he would not leave Georgia to come to Tennessee since he is already a head coach now.
  10. Would Finley hire a Head Coach that is not looking to teach? I know several guys that have plenty of experience and know football as much as anyone but just have know desire to be in the classroom day in and day out. ??? Would he consider someone in that situation who was willing to make a long term commitment to the Central kids, and community??
  11. I know it happens but I don't think the state or county condone that. I've know of teams to have camps and things like that to pay additional coaches. I'm curious to know the rules on that as well Troll
  12. Non faculty coaches do have to go through the same hiring process as if you were going to get a teaching job if they are getting an actual supplement from the County. Now if your just a volunteer coach but not drawing a supplement from the county you still have to be fingerprinted and have a background run but not all the additional paperwork like the supplement guys. And I would say that it is probably saying that your allowed no more than 3 non faculty coaches. I just don't see many schools being able to run off 3 total coaches especially the larger ones.
  13. I am pretty sure the smaller schools in Hamilton county get 4 paid supplements, the mid-sized schools which would be Central gets 5 and the larger ones 6 I think. Any others are usually volunteers or the money comes from somewhere although don't think that's real legal. Maybe someone in the know can confirm if I'm close on this. Central was faced with this before John got the job. Gann from Ringgold now at North Murray has a good shot at getting the job but pretty much from what I hear told them that he needs 8 or 9 staff members to get the job done. He was coming from a Georgia system where they probably had 8 or 9 coaches and they all were getting supplements. And yes you can get a supplement and be on staff and not be a teacher or even in the building if the head coach has enough confidence in you to hire you. But I do know several that have done it for years and it's actually cost them money to coach so in that case your always gonna have a few guys that want to be apart of a program even if it cost them just to get the experience.
  14. Someone close to Finley needs to get him on the horn with Vic Grider ASAP. Vic just announced he is not taking the job in Georgia. If the pounder faithful wants stability with a proven winner and has coached the same type kids that Central has then this would be the perfect fit. This hiring process would end today, if Central could pony up.
  15. Has there been any mention of coach Price leaving the mountain for Heritage in Georgia? Curious if anyone else has heard that mentioned up on the hill?
  16. Lol you guys crack me up say this coach this or that coach that and the best one I've heard yet was Montgomery won with. Barbers players. Are you guys kidding me? This is high school they didn't go out and recruit each coach coached the kids that was willing to stay at center and not go to tyner or ooltewah. Barger is a good coach I do believe and he started to turn the corner when he left. Sam put a good staff together and had the best year Central has had since 2003, and did it with a heavy sophomore class, a couple good Juniors and 4 above average seniors. And had that staff stayed that sophomore class had a chance to play with the big boys last year as seniors cause most of those kids that were sophomores played with a pretty tight game with A Senior heavy Fulton team in the first round of 2010. Now as far as Norwood, great guy and has learned a lot about coaching since his time at Central but if you guys were to ask him he would tell you the one year he did have the title of DC he had a lot of help and didn't really know defense like a coordinator should, but he did love the kids and and probably would have stayed at Central as well as the rest of the staff until John Cleaned house because that group of coaches loved Central and a few of them I know for a fact would love to someday have the opportunity to return to Central in some capacity. And I have stated before and this fact and some of u may confirm this but Finley was warned several times not to hire john! He did it anyway so it don't matter who all is on the commity Finley makes the call, the other people is just there to divert blame when he screws up again and hires someone that is just using Central. as a stepping stone but has the gift of gab. You can win at Central and it's a great place to be I just hope for the kids sake that they really do there homework this go around.
