  1. Just for the record, CD's QB did have a physical injury in the Greeneville game. And if he does talk smack, is he the only one? Why all the venom towards a 17 year old kid from a Greene County school?
  2. Thanks for your support, Greeneville fans. Anyway, I sure hope all of the local teams do well in the playoffs this year. Go Black Knights...I am so proud of them again this year! And just for the record, it's Chuckey-Doak!
  3. And, not only is this a huge rivalry, it's Senior Night at the Black Hole, so emotions will be even stronger! For once in this class of CD seniors high school career, maybe they can beat the Rebels in football!!!
  4. I wonder if any other county in the state of Tennessee has had this happen before? I mean, I live in Johnson City and that would be the most amazing thing ever if all three public schools here were ever in the football playoffs! I doubt that ever happens here. It sure makes me proud of being a native Greene Countian! And go Black Knights!!! Good luck to all, as long as they're not playing my Black Knights!
  5. I've wondered for many years (since back when I was in high school) why kids were allowed to choose a school out of their residential zone. I guess it's just choices for various reasons, and it's not always about sports. As for Chuckey-Doak having open enrollment, no one pays tuition to attend there no matter where they live (at least to my knowledge they don't). Just last school year, CD Middle School was closed to out of zone students since they are very close to capacity. There are several schools in Washington County that have the same policies, and all Johnson City public schools are closed to out of zone students. It will be interesting to see when and if this happens to some of the schools that have enjoyed open enrollment for many years...at some point the population will reach a level where "closed enrollment" is inevitable for many schools, but they will be fine when it does.
  6. Since Greeneville is obviously superior to the other BRAC teams in football, if they switch classifications by choice in a year or two, would that apply to all sports? I don't see that either GHS or any of the Greene County school system high schools totally dominate in basketball, softball, baseball, etc., like GHS does in football. Just wondering about this since football, unlike other school sports, is definitely where the superior program exists for GHS. If a classification move "up" by choice would apply to all sports, I can't see why GHS would even consider it. And like another poster said, they've won a state championship already in 4A football, so why mess with a good thing? Now, as for Friday's game, I sure hope it's an injury free game and that penalties are kept to a minimum by both teams.
  7. I finally watched the video that was posted after the GHS vs WGHS game. In the video, the speaker said that if you're a good athlete from Greene County, you may want to come to Greeneville High to play your sport. Kids who don't live inside Johnson City don't have the option of attending the city schools here, so I wonder if that is considered a disadvantage for Science Hill.
  8. I won't get to see this game, but I never take any game for granted with my Black Knights! That usually ends up not turning out the way I expected! I have no clue if Cosby has a good football team or not, so I can only hope that CD pulls out another win this Thursday.
  9. I haven't seen SG play this year, but I did see Crockett play Science Hill this past Friday night. The score was 55-7, and it could have been much worse. SH pulled starters fairly early in the 2nd quarter. I felt really sorry for Crockett, but that's what happens when one team is so much stronger and better than the other. If Crockett's game against South Greene is even close, I'll be surprised. I say SG wins this one, especially since it's their homecoming game.
  10. I agree that the Unicoi game was hard to watch if you were a CDHS fan! Hopefully they've made some adjustments since then, although I haven't seen a game since that one. Since I live in Johnson City and my kids to go JC schools, I guess I'll have to watch Science Hill play Crockett this Friday...but my heart is always pullin' for my Black Knights!
  11. When did Greeneville switch to 3A? Weren't they 4A last year? Just wondering...
  12. Well, as it turns out my fears were right...and the fact that Julius didn't even play any in the second half. He got knocked into the fence hard early in the game on a late hit and wasn't the same after that. He eventually stayed on the sidelines. And CD made too many turnovers and dropped too many passes that should have been caught! Maybe they'll get it together and play better next week. Oh, and the defense forgot to show up tonight, too.
  13. I sure hope so. Last year, UCHS was 1-9, but CDHS didn't blow them out! The only game UCHS won last year was against 0-10 Sullivan East, so I'm just saying that you never know. For some reason, the Blue Devils gave the Black Knights a close game last year when on paper they shouldn't have...but that's football, right?
  14. I sure hope CDHS gets another win this Friday night. Last year, the game against UCHS was nerve racking!
  15. I sure hope that CDHS has a good year in football! Go Black Knights!!!
  16. I haven't been to any tournament games, but from the scores I have to wonder what happened to CDHS girls. Are some of their players injured? Just wondering...
  17. Sorry Hampton fans...this thread isn't even about CDHS or Cloudland so I won't post on this one again about CDHS...good luck to your guys in the tournament(s)....
  18. I don't even live in Greene County, so not much I can do to "build" a program is there?
  19. I wasn't there but I was told what happened. I haven't seen the box scores in the JC Press and besides I don't know what class or even who is on Cloudland's team. To me, a score of 102-45 shows something way off! That's my point...but I also have an issue with CDHS for allowing this to happen. Why pull starters and leave them out like that? Do you think they could have used some more experience before their post season? None of them were starters last year on CDHS, so I would say they're quite inexperienced as well as being humiliated. I still can't see why this was good for either team...sorry, maybe I'm just not getting the point... How would you feel if you had a son on CDHS boys team right now? That's all I'm saying...
  20. I understand getting ready for the post season, but is it really good practice for seniors and juniors to play and humiliate a bunch of freshmen and a handful of sophomores? Sorry, there's just no excuse in my opinion for what Cloudland did...is it really that important to humiliate others??? And if that's the way it goes this time of year, I haven't seen that before in high school basketball. Usually when one team pulls their starters, the other one does also.
  21. Really? I heard that Cloudland didn't pull their starters until way after CDHS pulled theirs with 5:00 to go in the 3rd. Also, I heard Cloudland kept pressing the whole game...just trying to get to 100 points. Is it really worth it to humiliate another team of kids like that? Especially when the other coach pulls their starters early...I mean really, wasn't Cloudland too much for CDHS without doing that?...just sayin'....
  22. The CDHS vs GHS game for tonight has been postponed...not sure when it's rescheduled for.
  23. And how 'bout the Lady Black Knights? I thought for the most part Greeneville and Greene County girls represented quite well. Not too many years ago the only team from home that was still in the tournament at the end was SGHS. I think we've come a long way...
  24. I've been out of town, but I thought I heard that CDHS girls beat SGHS girls a few days ago. This conference might be pretty close this year...
  25. I've been quiet all week until someone slams my alma mater! And I'm pretty sure those CDHS kids have worked hard this year. Obviously their football program isn't at the level of Alcoa or even their neighbor, Greeneville High, but at least they made it to the playoffs! And thankfully they didn't have to play against Alcoa! LOL!!!
