Does Catholic have 5 near 300lb offensive linemen and 1 (possibly 2) running backs that are big (over 6ft-200lbs?).....If not, dont expect to see too much "change".

Id much rather see Nix get the spot and we bring in a strong minded Offensive Coord. The one knock about Alcoa football the past few years is how head coaches never seem to unpack their suitcases. Ironside stayed long enough to get where he wanted to go. Meadows moved himself (originally) on to a better job. Reid got his better offer and moved on and now Rankin ("appears") to have his bags packed to take a step back IMO in jobs (football wise) but up (financially wise). I believe Nix is a local guy, he grew up and went to school in the area (Maryville/Maryville College I believe). I feel he could add stability to a program that's only major crack in the armor was just that. Im just not sure how "offensive minded" Nix is which is why I mentioned and O-Coord...I wouldnt mind seeing Coach Henry stay around but Id assume he'd go with Rankin as well.

Nix as "coach in waiting" has been known for a couple of years with most of the "inner circle" in Alcoa.

PATs and FGs have/had been killing us all year long. Honestly, its hard but its no surprise that a kick is what did us in. Also, Am I the only person (along with the people standing around me) that were positive that the kick to send it into OT wasnt good? I was standing at about the 20 at that end and I swear it fell short.

1)Please show me any post where I or anyone else said Alcoa was the best team in the state? 2)Please show me where any of us said Alcoa is/was better then Maryville? 3)Please show me where Alcoa plays/ed TSD or TSB 4)Pleas list me another team in Tennessee in any classification that has won 7 straight State Championships Here's a fact, Alcoa plays the schedule handed to them. It is a FACT that teams have dodged Alcoa to not play them. To you think we just drove to Kentucky for 3 years because of the scenery? Have you ever been to Kentucky before? Nobody is taking away from Maryville's winning streak. Its a great accomplishment but Id be willing to bet if you asked most of the players on the teams that DIDNT win the State title if they would trade a win or two for a couple more rings...Everyone of them would say yes. 9 times out of 10 the best region in 3a football is Alcoas region. You remove Alcoa from 2a/3a during this run and teams like CAK and Loudon would have a few gold balls of their own. Not only that Milan would probably add a few to theirs either and every time they got there, they were shut down by Alcoa, so dont come here spouting crap about Alcoa doesnt play anyone. Alcoa has beaten everyone the needed to to win a State Title! If you want tougher competition for Alcoa then go tell some of your "other" state championship teams that dodged Alcoa to step up to the plate like Maryville and CAK do every year and Greeneville has done this and next year.

Doesnt matter if you use Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, trigonometry, calculus, or statistics.....7 will always be greater then 4! I can promise you that every person thats ever put on a jersey would trade 3 wins for 3 more championships.

Im really curious as to what Maryville has to do to earn respect from some people? Seriously for year all we heard was "Oh thats 4A football, come play with the big boys" So then they moved up to 6A with the "Big Boys" and clearly showed they could compete. Then we got the "Oh you cant play with this Region or that Region" and last time I checked....Maryville has wrecked every "super region" that said couldnt play with them. Im pretty sure they're the best public HS football team in the state. I would probably take them against private schools as well....They might be the best college team in Tennessee as well...Vandy MIGHT give them a game....Heck, I if they play the Titans after the state title game, will that earn them any respect from anyone or do they have to play the Packers first?

Ill take Maryville by 3 TDs. If I get off work in time, I might just go to this game. Probably have to sit on the Riverdale side though.....not because Im rooting against Maryville but because I love how the home side of the stadium roars during big plays. Its intimidating!

(From what Ive been able to find) Only two teams have ever been able to defeat Alcoa twice in the same season, so the task CAK has ahead of them is going to be quite the feat. I just hope its not raining and windy again! LOL Im too old for that kinda weather.

This is something Ive been harping at all year long. Oggs is too much of an athlete to not be on the field but not a QB. Use him in the slot, use him in the backfield and lord why dont we use him at outside linebacker anymore? He caused so much havoc during the first part of the season.

I am curious as to why we didnt see the Maryland I formation at all vs CAK...We ran all over Fulton with it and multiple times we had 3rd and short or 4th and short and would run a play like QB Draw or deep toss sweep and get stuffed. Taking nothing away from CAKs defense but every time Chapman got the ball get got 3-5 yards plus. If Im going to run the football, Im going to run the guy thats going to get me the yards.

Season isnt over by far. I cant speak for the west side of the bracket but I dont see anyone on the east that Alcoa could not beat. That team is going to have to bond/gel together and they've got 4 more days to do it. Its going to have to start at the top with the coaches and go all the way to the bottom to the last freshman to see the field. Right now though everything you did in the regular season is behind you. Everyones record is the same. You're all 0-0. You need to play 3 seasons if you want to win a state title and Alcoa is going into their 3rd season and there isnt anything thats going to hold them back except themselves so they need to work hard and just win!

I saw the forecast says 50% chance of rain. That usually tends to be an disadvantage for a passing team. Has CAK played any games this year in the rain with wet balls?

Tennessee coaches are morons. They recruited Cobb originally as a defensive back. The recruited Carl Stewart as a Linebacker. Seriously doesnt matter who coaches that team they want to change the way they play or position to play. Do we need a reminder of the left handed center that they randomly decided to make into a right handed Center? Yea, that was BRILLIANT!!
