Please show me who is blaming the BG players!!! I think it is perfectly obvious who is to blame. If you want to think that "our team worked just as hard as Blackman to win that game" go right ahead. I hope that helps you guys sleep better. Of course there is nothing "you" could have done. Just accept and ackowledge the truth. BG is a good football team. Are they better than Blackman, no, but they are good. Don't come back with, well we beat you so we must be better, either. And yes, the refs are yours. They are the Kentucky association's, so YES, they are yours....and it was perfectly obvious that they weren't going to let some out of state team come up there and beat the local powerhouse and stop their winning streak. Spin it any other way you want, but that IS the truth!!!

Who is blaming the football team? You say doing it rather well...you guys got out-gained by 150 or so yards. You had one touchdown drive that was gifted by 60 yards worth of penalties. I would have loved it if the boys would have decided it on the field. However, that was not allowed to happen, and how you can say "just like they did this year" is laughable. We lost to Oakland because they were better than us that night and we put the ball on the ground at least 3 times and still only lost by 6. Stay classy Bowling Green!! Again, nothing personal against the players. Your fans, however, were almost as bad as the refs. How do grown "adults" get their kicks by going behind a visitor's bench, where there are NO bleachers and harrass and curse at teenagers all night?!?!?!?!? Please defend that. The fans in the bleachers weren't much better, cursing at our band and cheerleaders. So I guess all that cussing your coach did to the refs was for them to call a "fair" game? Really???? It was our head coach's fault that our QB got hit TWICE out of bounds, and no late hit is called? It was our head coach's fault that the ref was not in the correct position and our TE has to dodge him and grazes his arm as he is breaking the huddle? It was our head coach's fault that your olineman was holding our DE's foot and when he pulled it back, they called another on us???? By the way, he did have that conversation. So he let your coach "get under his skin"????? That is unbelievable! A coach should NEVER have to "protect his players from the refs". That is absolutely laughable. You said we were "blinded by your pride for your team". If that isn't pot calling kettle black I don't know what is. For one instance, put yourself on the other side. How would you feel if your 38 game win streak would have ended because you guys racked up 120+ yards in largely shady fashion. You guys would flip your lids, and don't even try to say otherwise.

You would think, but it was just the opposite. The refs were "addressed" by the BG coach at halftime ranting and cussing like a crazy person.

I am wondering the same thing. #40 would be the one I could tell. He got the one for taking his foot back and the other for "viciously" and obviously intentionally running over the ref!!!! If TSSAA suspends him, we should storm the gates with torches and pitchforks.

It "appears", they flagged #40 because #70 was holding onto his foot and #40 didn't lean over and say "may i have my foot back please" and just pulled it away. Flag flies....then somebody probably said something in reaction to the flag and out comes #2. Do officials normally carry 2 flags? I want to know what happened to draw the flag on their touchdown, and love the "no call" on the play at 11:15 where they are shoving #2's head in the dirt with a ref standing right there...oh yeah, they were driving to score, I forgot.

Has anybody EVER seen a white hat official sprint over to the sideline on a play like that. "Bumping" the ref?!?!?!? are you kidding me. I'm glad there is video evidence of this mess. That kid is about as good of a kid you will ever see. He doesn't say much to anybody under usual circumstances, much less something disrespectful to an official. Football7272, what say you? This was Blackman driving, up 19-13. Go up 2 scores, game is likely over. Refs couldn't handle that. Please defend that. You point to that last drive and the refs actually not calling anything. Defend that drive. I honestly believe if that 4th down pass would have fallen incomplete, they would have "found" some pass interference somewhere.

You couldn't be farther from the truth. Outside of a couple off-setting penalties that they got by responding to the antics of a couple Independence players, I don't recall 1 unsportsmanlike penalty all year. To compare them to the 80's Miami teams is just ridiculous. Coach Shad preaches discipline in everything....doesn't cuss his kids or his coaches. What has caused the reaction from Blaze fans is the sheer shock when you see 6 or 7 of those penalties in 1 half, coupled with the fact that none were called on BG. It is unbelievable that a team can hit late, repeatedly, constantly shoving players when they are down, openly curse the opposing team, and NOT get 1 friggin penalty called!!! I guess the butt chewing/cussing the BG coach gave the refs at half-time worked. Also, I would love somebody to explain something. Where did all of this disrespect talk come from early in the week. First anybody around here heard about it was in the paper when the kid brought it up. I wonder if this wasn't a motivational ploy used by the coaches to fire his team up. If so, it apparently worked. I remember in high school, our coach came in and said that the other coach had just said something about us (complete b.s.), but we believed it and were ready to chew nails. Should make for a fun return trip to the Boro next year. I hope they win em all until then too. One other thing...he said the "officials" were "disgracefull"...didn't see Idiot in there. It would have been accurate had he said it, but i haven't seen that specific quote.

Not entirely accurate. You just have to "declare" you are going to pursue the IB program to get in. You are not tested into it until your Soph. year. If you don't make it in the IB program you are still an Oakland student and don't get shipped back to your zoned school. The Smith brothers were Rockvale kids and would have gone to either Riverdale or Blackman (not sure which, but I believe Riverdale). They have another DB that was a Rock Springs middle kid and would have been a Smyrna/Lavergne student.

really??? Can you name ANY band director in the state of TN by name? I can't speak for any other area, but I don't get that vibe from most of the schools in this county and area. Speaking to Blackman's specifically, they are one of the best "football" bands I've ever seen at the high school level....(granted the kareoke show gets old every now and then). Give me that band over a band that is only worried about competitions and appearances (siegel) anyday.

Not attacking you in any way, and I know this has been debated a bunch on coacht, but that is a crappy rule. I would expect that they are going to have to be told to stop, then. It's what they do. I wished the bands would play the entire time. It's called atmosphere. It's not like high schools games/bands are loud enough to affect the players on the field. Fans can be much louder if the stands are full, but they don't make them be quiet during play. It's not a rule in TN, but several teams that have come in to play Rutherford Co teams gripe about it being poor sportsmanship, blah, blah, blah.

Sorry MKD, but flip Ravenwood and Blackman and then switch Siegel and Cookeville. Ravenwood is #1 in their district and will be seeded ahead of the 2nd place Blackman and Cookeville. Siegel, right now, is the highest seeded Wild Card. This would make for an interesting 1st rd matchup between Blackman and Smyrna. I think a bunch of people would want to see another game between those two. Although with 2 weeks to go, a lot can and will change.

It is @Oakland on the Thursday night of Week 8. FBGuru....I love the enthusiasm for the team/players, but it is undeniable who has more college tallent this year, and it's not really close. Oakland has multiple kids that have several offers...Blackman has what, like 2 kids. I love this team, but to say they have more "college" talent than Oakland is just uninformed. I really think Blackman will pull this one out, but it will be a slug-fest and to take words out of Coach McDaniel's mouth, it will be a "fist fight".

This is most of it, I would say. Corn Elder (Ensworth) from either the Oakland or Siegel Zone. Deandre Ferby (Ensworth) from either Smyrna/Lavergne zone. Jalen Ramsey (BA) from the Smyrna zone. Not sure his name but there was a starting RB at MBA recently that came from either Riverdale or Blackman's zone. These are just a handfull of the high profile kids from this area that have been recruited out of here. To say the coaches are a little skittish about willingly letting these schools in, on purpose, is an understatement. Now to the poster that said Siegel, Oakland and Blackman would all beat Ensworth, I say (in my Corso voice) "NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND" If they played 10 times would they win some, sure, but they would also lose their share. This is such a great topic to debate, because NOBODY knows what would happen. My money would be on a Maryville/Ensworth final, because that is what has happened in the past. Those 2 coaches are unbelievable at winning games that count, when they matter most. Now the 2 victories that Ensworth had against Smyrna, would probably have been losses if any other coach was coaching, but he (along with Quarles) have a knack for getting their kids NEVER to quit and pull things out in the end. If opposing fans are always claiming how "lucky" you are, then there is probably a lot more to it than "luck".

Penny and Delk in the backcourt. Shawn Marion at the 3 Popeye Jones at the 4 Wright or Chism at the 5. Vaughn would be on the team, but nowhere near starting on the best ever from TN.

The reality of the situation is that for teams in this region to fill out their schedule, they have to get who they can get. Bradley, East Hamilton, Hendersonville, and Cane Ridge are the ones they had to get. Having to dip into the Chatt area twice (as Blackman had to do the last 2 years) speaks to this. NOBODY is lining up at the door to play this county. It's not like it used to be where you looked for tough non-district matchups to prepare you for the playoffs. I would be willing to bet that most any other team in the county would beg to have a "cupcake" schedule. Although East Hamilton is most definately not a cupcake.

Seems to be pretty tight lipped. I guess that happens when there is no school for word to leak out of. I would assume Dr. Harrell and Dyson are the only ones in the loop, and if they aren't talking, nobody knows anything. That is unless some of the candidates start flapping their gums, of course.

Again, he CANNOT coach if he is coming as an Assistant Principal / AD.

He won't be able to coach them. You cannot be Asst Prin and coach in Ruth Co. I wonder how much input he'll have on the hire.

Something HAS to be done about the playoff format. Teams are having to criss-cross the state just to find games, and/or dodging other teams right in their own backyard. Utterly ridiculous. I just wish TSSAA would come out and say they are just in it for the money. It would make it a little easier to swallow. Them charading under the umbrella of "doing things for the kids" is a complete SHAM!!!!!
