Did Kreig get pulled in the game or ejected? There is an unconfirmed rumor floating around that Kreig was ejected during his start against MUS. Does anyone care to confirm, deny, or detail the report? If it happened...was it justified? What did he do? I'd like to hear about the call that went against JPII as well.

shakin...your post couldn't be any more spot on! CBHS and MUS are both great programs, as are the other two schools in the west. But when the east reduced to just Baylor and McCallie forcing the current alignment of the middle/east region, then I agree with you that the 3rd bye should have come with it. As far as the venue is concerned, what happened to MTSU being the host sight? I know the facility and field went through some renevations a couple years ago, but those all appear to be complete. Why not Resse Smith Field? Can anyone provide some insight as to why Wilson Central instead of MTSU?

The only feedback I can give you based on what you wrote is that the said kids parents and coaches are stupid if the scenario you described is accurate and the young man has an opportunity to continue his career past this season. While I wouldn't intentionally want to hurt my kid, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with this apparent abuse if in fact it was the last week or two of my son's career because he was a graduating senior and finished with his competitive baseball career upon completion of the season. This would be strictly for getting in or competing in the playoffs, and what you have proposed doesn't seem to be the case. I would add that I haven't seen this at the high school level over the last 8 years. Most teams are playing three games a week that occure in the 5 day school week leading up to the weekend. The limit on the number of games that teams can play would seem to minimize this type of abuse from occurring unless you are telling me that the same kid is pitching all three district/region games during a week of competition. Again, if this is the case, I have not seen it or heard it happening in high school, at least not in Middle TN from programs that are thriving and competitive.

There is actually only 12 teams in DIIAA baseball...8 in the Middle/East Region and 4 in the West Region. All 12 teams qualify for the post season, although this year, Briarcrest is not eligible for the post season because they are in the final year of a penalty imposed on them by TSSAA for a bench clearing fight that they participated in a couple of seasons ago. Thus, this is what we know today. Once Christian Brothers and MUS finish their regular season head to head competition this week, the winner of the series will emerge as the #1 seed out of the west with the other the #2 seed. Both teams will receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs. This leaves St. Benedict as the #3 seed out of the west. Baylor defeated BGA in their best of three series last weekend at BGA. With the series win came the #1 seed out of the middle/east with BGA finishing as the #2 seed. Both of these schools will also receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The remaining teams in the middle/east finished in the following order: #3 JP II #4 Father Ryan #5 Brentwood Academy #6 Ensworth #7 MBA #8 McCallie JP II gets a first round bye because of the inelegibility of Briarcrest. Father Ryan will host McCallie, Brentwood Academy will host Ensworth, and St. Benedict will host MBA at the end of the week. JP II will then play the #2 seed out of the west, the winner of the Ryan/McCallie series will play the winner of the #1 seed out of the west, BA/Ensworth winner will play at Baylor, and the winner of the St. Benedict/MBA series will play at BGA. The four winning teams from round two will head to the state tournament the week of May 22-25 and particiapte in a double elimination format to determine the state champion. In my opinion, very little seperates the top of the middle/east region from the bottom. In fact, McCallie was able to win the best of three series from Baylor a couple weeks ago. I can't speak of the west but I am sure it is competitive as well. It should be a fun couple weeks of baseball in DIIAA.

It's also bush league when a first base coach throws his arms out and yells safe right as an umpire is about to make a call on a close play at firstbase. You don't see that done in professional baseball either... or do you CCG?

Why are BGA's dugout antics considered bush while the antics of the Baylor coach's wife not? Excessive noise designed to irritate the opponent to the point of distraction is how I would describe both. I am not a fan of the noise that comes out of the BGA dugout, nor am I a fan of the annoying chatter that comes from the mouth of Mrs. Etter. She knows exactly what she is doing and she is relentless with noise that is equally annoying to the opposing team as the BGA banging is. To get on here and post only part of the story to make it look like BGA has a group of parents that pick on little old ladies is totally inaccurate. Etter does cheer for her team, but make no mistake, she also slips in negative things about the opposing hitters and pitchers, and on Saturday was perched 15 feet directly behind home plate calling out the location of the pitch to the Baylor hitters based on where the BGA catcher set up. Smacks of the pot calling the kettle black to me.

You asked what players Farragut pulled in. My reply was Serrano's kid. I didn't criticize his decision to put his kid at Farragut or take a shot at the school. I simply answered your question. If I lived in Knox County and could "choose" where my kid went to school and played baseball, I would probably choose Farragut as well.

What is unfortunate is that you continue to bash the Redovian kid when you really know nothing about him. Next thing you are going to tell us is that he steals kid’s lunch money too. In an attempt to get things back on topic, I believe I am correct in saying that Dathan Prewett (Spring Hill), Garrett Ring (Mt. Pleasant) and Heath Slatton (Columbia) have all signed with MTSU, Kyle Smith (Mt. Juliet) with Vanderbilt, Bryan Smith (Eagleville) with Trevecca and Austin Sistrunk(Franklin) with Lipscomb University. For the record, I have personally seen all of these kids play multiple times over the last 5-10 years and I think they will all be very successful at the D1 level…Redovian included.

It is obvious that your intent IS to bash the kid so why close your post with a weak apology? I have watched the Redovian kid play for years, and while his "aggressive, in your face" style of play can rub some the wrong way, it doesn't negate the fact that he is a very good baseball player. To label him the worst player you have ever seen smacks of your personal dislike for him, not a true assessment of his ability. In a recent article announcing their 2012 early signees, Wake Forest Head Coach had this to say about Redovian... "Jimmy is versatile player who fits well within our system. He is a gamer who makes others around him better. He has tremendous instincts, work ethic and savvy. He is a very good athlete and plays above his skill level because of all the intangibles. He will push for a starting job immediately and is a future team captain at Wake." I wish Redovian, and all the kids mentioned in this post the best in their college careers. It is quite an accomplishment for a young man to earn an opportunity to be a college athlete.

I was taken aback by the post from cbg. While I respect he is entitled to his opinion, my comment was meant as sarcasm. I couldn't agree more with your thoughts doct. BA is lucky to have BA! Sorry to have brought Buddy into this conversation. It was meant to be a compliment to him. I didn't know someone would smack him in this thread as well.
