  1. I agree for the most part although I think East will be better than predicted. East now has the point guard from Bradley Central who played her first two years at West. East needed a point guard and now they have one.
  2. And of course "Home court advantage in the state tournament every year is a plus". Just saying.
  3. Haven't heard yet but wouldn't be surprised if they had several. Have seen some high schoolers play at 3 and even 4 high schools in four years. Waiting to see some parents have the ability to transfer their children to schools because they have better science and math programs. Oh well.
  4. I would agree with you on the good young players at Cumberland County. Should get better and better as the season progresses.
  5. Have seen lots of games at 3 camps this summer. Morristown West finished 21-0 with only a couple of fairly close games. They have an unusual team with a group of seniors who never lost in middle school and a group of freshmen who never lost in middle school. The East side of the state in AAA looks like West, Science Hill and Cocke County. The Knoxville area looks like Maryville , Bearden and Farragut. Blackman, Riverdale and Bradley Central in the middle and I have no idea about the Western part of the state.
  6. She is a sophomore, name is Jazmine Williams. She will also play some on the varsity.
  7. They have done real well so far, beating Grainger, Bearden, Maryville, Farragut and eight other teams without a loss. I realize it is summer ball but I have been impressed with their strong defense and unselfish offense. Should face some really good competition next week at Tenn. Tech.
  8. You might want to keep an eye on Morristown West. Lost to Science Hill by one at the beginning of last year and has almost everyone back plus some outstanding newcomers. All things considered, this year's team is probably 20 percent better than last year.
  9. You are probably right. For Cocke to win they would have to play great with Vikings having an off night. For West to win they would have to play almost totally flawless ball with SH playing way below their potential. But watch out for D1 next year. Both teams should be much better next year with almost everyone back and more help on the way. I was there for the 47-46 Sh-West game early this year but know that Sh had a couple of starters out. But it did show West has potential especially for next year with almost everyone coming back.
  10. It may be time to consider adding a AAAA division in basketball. The huge enrollment schools basically have winning seasons in their down years and championships teams in their good years while the smaller enrollment schools lose badly during their down years and with a couple of great players they may have a championship team once in a blue moon.
  11. I agree. I saw them play earlier in the season and a girl named Blake scored 36 points. This could well be the team to beat in State Tourney this year. They are certainly by far better than anything I have seen in East Tenn this year and that includes all the Imac teams , all the Knoxville area teams and all the Upper East Tenn. teams with the possible exception of Science Hill. And their very fast point guard has not even played yet except for a few minutes at the end of the last game.
  12. It was hard to tell just how good Farragut might be with Morristown West hitting (are you ready for this) one out of nineteen 3 pointers!!!! Plus their only big girl had 2 fouls in the first couple of minutes. Never seen anything like it.
  13. I believe channel 2 doesn't start broadcasting until the semi-finals.
  14. ME had a very good year and they have a good coach. But with 4 seniors and 1 junior starting they were one of the most experienced teams in all of East Tenn. They would have had a subpar year if they had won less than 20 games. Sevier and MW both almost beat ME with mainly freshmen and sophmores. And South Greene did beat them. Every game East played against what would be considered top competition, they lost by a ton.... SH, Mt. Juliet and Bradley Central. Tracy for IMAC coach of the year but not regional coach of the year. That goes to SH.
  15. Does not represent a problem. Existing schools would continue to play most of their regular opponets with maybe one or two travel games out of region. But when tournament time comes, teams would only play those in their division..just like in football.
  16. you are kidding right? Allow any decent coach to pick 10 players out of a student body of 2,000 and he/she will beat the coach who picks from a student body of 1,000 the vast majority of the time. By the way, at a super large school, there are scores of students who don't try out because they know who the stars are. There are probably lots and lots of girls at SH who could start for many other teams but are not playing on the school team. Let's see..in football we have what, five or six divisions? In basketball we have three!!
  17. SH having 1300 more students than the average AAA team in East Tenn may call for adding a AAAA division in Tennessee. How would Cloudland have done if they played all schools with at least double their enrollments. SH is a great team and is 50% more likely to have a better team year in and year out than most other teams in their region. Would sure like to see a re-shuffling of divisions based on size of student body.
  18. West had 26 turnovers against the Vikings. East will not have anywhere near that number of turnovers. But surely the Vikings won't have such a poor shooting night again. Could be a close game, but I think East pulls out the W. SH a no brainer...true.
  19. But still may have some who are playing their last game...obviously they have had several who didn't make it to their senior year. Quite a shame that not a single girl who started as a freshman 4 years ago , is still on the team.
  20. Tonight will mark the last game for many young women in the IMAC. They have represented themselves and their schools so very well. They have made life long friends with their teammates and have shown their willingness to work hard and discipline themselves during their high school careers. Statistics show that students involved in positive extra-curricular activities are much more likely to lead successful lives. I want to thank them all for allowing me and my wife to enjoy watching them give their all this season and wish them the very best in their future endeavors. While we also enjoy watching the guys play ball, we especially appreciate the 100% effort given by these young women game in and game out. These young women have shown what real dedication and teamwork are all about. Good luck to you all.
  21. Seymour is a very very young team playing without one of its best players. Never count them out. They have come back from over 20 points down in one game and 15 in another. Can beat almost anyone on a given night. Game will probably be close with SS having a slight edge based on game experience.
